Guest Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 American Idiot made me a fan, but I became a fan in 2007, not in the AI era or the 21st CB era. And the second album of theirs I bought was International Superhits, so before I became as big of a fan I am now, I knew about songs from previous eras, although I'm only 14, so...
-Billiejoezee- Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I became a fan of green day Late warning era. So I adore warning because that was my first gd album. But my fave album is insomniac.
Katarina. Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Green Day is Green Day. And I love it all. And it's fine if you like their older stuff better than their recent albums, but that's your opinion. Also, there's no way I could have been a fan "From the Dookie era", simply cause I was only 1 year old! Same goes for the other eras, I was simply too young, and nobody I knew at that time played punk/rock music. It's cause of MTV and the internet I actually discovered Green Day, which was in early 2004 I think.. I don't even know exactly when, it doesn't matter. My first thought: OMG his voice, the lyrics, the music, the energy, why did I only discover them now? I love every single song, and my "favorite" albums are the ones I feel like listening to at a certain point. Everyone has a different music taste, even if you're talking about one specific band, Green Day for example. Nimrod, I think, will be my favorite Green Day album most of the time, but like I said, everything they do is amazing. They started when they were really young, and the music is just growing with them. They keep experimenting, but they still are Green Day. And I love that.
Kayfabe Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Green Day is like candy. There are many shapes, sizes, tastes and varieties, but at the end of the day it's all so fucking good.
TakumaDemonReborn Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 i think nimrod was green day's best album because it was a very complete album...every aspect of punk was involved on the album..."Ska punk, hardcore punk, pop punk, punk rock...and every kind of punk was involved in the album...which includes an acoustic power balled...time of your life...so i think nimrod was the best of them all
StevieT Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Threads like this Anoy me just because we were born after dookie doesn't mean we don't respect it I'm 15 and my favourite album is smoothed. It's not about when u were introduced its just about being a part of green day. I can't stand people that think there more of greenday fan just because they new them pre AI !!!
†...HAUSHINKA...† Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 the band's music appeals across generations to people with musical tastes either overlapping with or entirely outside of the band's core punk rock roots....this I think is where the connection begins that leads so many different people from so many different places in life to find something personal they can relate to in Green Day's music. *thumbsup*
Li Sa Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 i became a fan after hearing american idiot. but ive grown up with them. id been hearing them for years on the radio and just never knew who they were. i dont think its fair to say most of the younger people dont remember/appreciate their older stuff. i was 4 years old when dookie was released. but i freaking love it now. i dont think age really has anything to do with it. exactly same here but I was 1
21st century idiot Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Got in to AI first, loved the whole CD then had to slowly get into their old stuff because there was no new stuff out yet, sdo it worked out for me because i like all the ra's of green day, from 39/smooth all the way to whatever this next live album will be and beyond.
Guest Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Green Day is like candy. There are many shapes, sizes, tastes and varieties, but at the end of the day it's all so fucking good. But I don't like candy
Axel Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 I became a fan when they released Kerplunk in 92, And it was so fucking awesome to find a underground band that wasn`t mainstream, Although the new stuff is kind of shitty.
Kayfabe Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 But I don't like candy you have no idea how close i came to neg repping you
Satan Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 i appreciate all green day, old and new. I became a fan when i heard American idiot, but i heard it wayyyy after the american idiot era, even after the 21st CB era ... but ill make sure to be a part of the "rio" era ^-^
oda Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 i'm sorry, but i'm really sick of hearing about this. Sure, everybody is entiteled to their own opinion. And i don't think liking this or that makes anybody any bigger fans then others. (not that op claimed that at all, i'm just saying in general)
dudley dawson Posted October 24, 2010 Author Posted October 24, 2010 Can we all agree Green Day is the best band ever? lol
justcause Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Can we all agree Green Day is the best band ever? lol Yeah, we surely can - so many times when I'm listening to Green Day and I just blurt out, 'this is the best fucking band in the world!!', so many times when I hear Jesus of Suburbia, and I think, 'ok, people can stop writing songs now, because this is the best song EVER!!'. Nonetheless, when I read your first post, it made me think of this video, and how it must have felt to see this fucking raw force, coming out of nowhere -
Guest Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 you have no idea how close i came to neg repping you How dare you!
LibertyBelle. Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 When I was younger, I loved the pop-punk style of American Idiot, it was released when I was about 10 - being so young it was more accessible obviously. As I grew up and overplayed American Idiot, I began to get into their older stuff because I could relate to it more, then 21st Century Breakdown came out and blew me away again and bought me back to their latest stuff. My favourite song will always be Jesus of Suburbia though, I think everyone in some way could relate to that song.
Zalex Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Who cares WHEN we became fans? I can't help when my mother popped me out of the womb or the fact that I didnt have an older sibling to play Green Day for me when I was an age I didn't even know how babies were made. Gtfover it. Youre a shitty fan if you're gonna say youre better because you listened to them longer.
Zia Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Green Day is Green Day. It's all good :eyebrow: That's it.
Foxboro Holiday Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 whyy? cause they like, grew up and realized they're rock stars? Useless thread is useless.
fadi_7 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 it doesn't matter if it good the only matter is to rock your socks off and stop making topics like this cause we have plenty of them
clairex Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 yeah, I don't really care when people became fans or what album they brought first. I think it is great that Green Day are still going and gaining new fans with each album. It benefits the fans as we get more Green Day in the end.
