Awkward eye contact with the band

I was in the barricade on Mike's side on the far end of the stage when this girl started flirting with Mike. He didn't really acknowledge anyone else---she ended up getting a guitar pic and set list  I guess the crazier you act the more attention your likely to get. Added with tears and hands outreached to the stage---maybe even a kiss...

its not Green Day related but I met James Hart outside of a show and he was selling Burn Halo cds.

He ask me if I wanted one and I didnt say anything I just kept staring at him then my friend came in and said "no we spent all our money"

then I never saw him again. :pinch: and I actually wanted a cd and had money lol

Edit: since the topic description was "Awkward eye contact with the band" I feel like I should have not put my story in this thread......

this thread brings me back to seeing GD live. I love it

I'm currently re-living the moment when Tre handed me his drumsticks in Quebec City. Seriously magical moment. I'll never forget the intensity in his eyes

A personal favourite moment of mine was when the three of us were together on the barrier at the end of Montreal, Sarah and I crying our eyes out, and Billie gave you the pics, and we were all watching like :woot: and then he was like 'lol' and started to peel off his band aid and we were like  and he threw it at us and we were like  and he was like rofl.

That night, when I was standing behind you guys (and before I fell all over Sarah with hugs) I was crying and I SWEAR on my life, one of the few moments I was looking at Tre he was watching me, and mouthed 'are you okay?' and I nodded my head and he went :D and then turned away.

When I saw GD in '05, we had seats at the end of Mike's side of the stage, second level, second row. There were only two people in the row in front of us, so we moved up. A few times during the show, Billie and Mike would come over to our side of the stage and look up. One of the ladies next to me asked if I thought they were looking at us. So I said "let's find out". The next time Mike wandered over, I waved and he waved back. :woot: From then on, we did something each time they came over -- smile, wave, make funny faces, blow kisses, make the I love you hand sign. Even my grandma got in on it (she blew Mike a kiss). I would have loved to know what he thought about that.

It really made our slightly crappy seats so much better.

lol no! I swear it was at the end of the show because I was right behind you guys (trying to get as far away from...that man...as possible) and I was definitely still crying. I was still off to the side a bit from you guys at that point because I remember seeing him toss his hat to Sarah and I had my own personal freak out.

What did that girl say?!

Um, it wasn't awkward but at Wembley Mike acknowledged me. I can't remember what song it was during (I think it was King for a Day, he was dressed up) I was just so shocked he smiled at me it was quite possibly the best moment of my life (so far) haha. He sort of smiled and gave me sort of thumbs up (I think, I was honestly that shocked). I'm sure Billie noticed me too, but if he did, he was definitely giving Kryssi's glasses that I wearing a 'wtf?!' look.

I've never actually seen Green Day in person.....

You're 12, you've got plenty of time yet :)

Lol, says me who's only two years older than you. xD

^^ The first time I ever saw Billie Joe in person I was like

0______________________________________________________________________________________________________________0

I couldn't even make my body have any other reaction. I couldn't even scream. Everyone else around me was going insane, but there I was on the barrier in front of him, completely frozen. But after about 20 seconds of that face as he ran up the catwalk to us, and then back to the stage, I got my voice and I WAILED that whole concert :D

My brother says Mike "winked" at him at our first Green Day show in 2009. I still argue that it didn't look like it was at him at all, 'cause I saw it. But whatever. We were in the first row, and even though the boy's glances only wandered swiftly across the people at the front, it felt pretty cool.

I had eye contact with Billie in Munich, for just the shortest second, but it still made me feel extremely awkward. Haha, it was really nice though. :D

I've never had eye contact with any of the guys in the band, but I'm sure if I had it'd be akward, because to me all direct eye contact with strangers is terribly akward  and even though they're not that "strangers", they are people you've seen a few times in your life! Despite that, it'd still be awesome haha. You're all so lucky!

I do not understand how people are getting so worked up over a wink or a smile or even eye contact... It is awesome that they have worked it out to where they can look at the audience while playing and do all that stuff.. but... is it really something to get "giddy" over? I suppose I might never comprehend this. I might see getting a bit of a shock when it first happens... but does it deserve to be talked about after... really?

Well I'd have to say.....yes! It is and it does. The fact that so many people are excited to talk about it in this thread pretty much answers your question. That moment is such a nice little thrill and it makes you feel all the more connected with the band as you watch them. It's just a tiny thing of course but sometimes tiny things can mean a lot, it's a happy moment during a great show and it's fun to talk about it afterwards and enjoy remembering it.

I made eye contact with Billie during the finale in American Idiot. He was looking over in our direction (probably because Adrienne was sitting 2 rows in front of us) and my mom, sister, and I flashed the 'I love you' hand sign. I'm convinced he looked at us

i think of course its worth talking about and remembering. if it was something that made you that happy, its a memory worth holding onto and sharing.

smiles and winks and that are not something i get as excited over, but to be honest i wish i did. i remember the first time i got sprayed in the face by billie with the water gun, and at that point in time it was honestly the best moment of my life.

i think thats one of the great things about green day though, the way they can make these tiny moments of intimacy with the audience at these massive arena and stadium shows. and you can see it in their smiles and interactions with fans, that they know how much every acknowledgement they give means.
