Hermione Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I'm not thrilled with the choice of show either and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Nothing against Tokyo, there's just loads of other shows I would've preferred. Doesn't mean it's the end of the world though.
TheSaltOfTheEarth Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 i know some people are giving out that the DVD will be only Tokyo etc etc etc...but Im just glad theres gonna be a live DVD and its Green Day so yay we all have song preferences but the best way to avoid disappointment is to have no expectations and then be surprised Exactly. I honestly don't care about the venue or the crowd or whatever, so long as Green Day is playing an awesome show, which they never fail to do, so what's the difference between, say, a European show and and the Tokyo one? The NA tour had more live rarities, but you can get those on the CD (hopefully). It's not like the Tokyo show had a BIAB setlist either - it had Burnout and Redundant and Viva La Gloria! and others like that. It's not like I wouldn't have rather had, say, Denver or something more noteworthy. But Tokyo's probably an amazing show nonetheless and there's really no point in bitching about it. Bottom line? Green Day concert = awesome no matter where it's played. The DVD is just a sort of bonus anyways (or that's what it seems like), so we should be glad they're even giving us one in the first place.
greendaytone Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 One thing about the Tokyo shows is the guys had a lot of fun on stage (like they always do), but there was lots of fooling around, which i think will go perfectly with the Awesome As Fuck vibe to this release.

Yeah, I want to see a lot of the messing around this time. It was such a big part of the shows, seeing the band having fun and laughing together.

Bastard of 1967 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 i know it won't change anything i just like complaining I'm used to it, that's why I haven't negrepped you. Yet.

luvgirlcl Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I'm thinking about pre-ordering it from Amazon in the coming weeks. Do any of you guys know if they charge the money to the credit card right away when you put your order or do they do it before they ship it?
Velocity Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 ^ From what I've read in this thread, Amazon doesn't charge your card until it's shipped.
luvgirlcl Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 ^Thank you! I think I'll put my order when the official announcement comes from GD.com or the tracklist is released (which will probably be at the same time as the official announcement).
Maddy. Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I'm used to it, that's why I haven't negrepped you. Yet. i am quaking in my boots slippers, michael
Maura99 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I like that it's an indoor concert. It will have a totally different vibe than BIAB.
AndrewW91 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I like that it's an indoor concert. It will have a totally different vibe than BIAB. Yes, I agree. I was really hoping for a long time that if there was a DVD it would be an indoor one for some reason.
Schlappy Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I like that it's an indoor concert. It will have a totally different vibe than BIAB. i agree, it will probably feel more confined and intimate. they might have felt more comfortable to play with the set list and structure of their show, and also to do more silly and idiotic things (which we all know and love). BIAB always seemed really structured and carefully planned, maybe this DVD will be more comfortable. i wonder how big the stadium in Tokyo was

I loved his videos during the AI era, but I can't say I was thrilled with how the Milton Keyes concert was edited in BIAB.

The editing wasn't a problem for me, but I did take issue with the fact that he put in a good 5 minute segment about himself

greendaytone Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 i wonder how big the stadium in Tokyo was About 18,000 i believe. On the subject of editing, although all the angles on BIAB were great, i also found it a little annoying to have it constantly changing every second. Will be good to see a more focused view this time i think.
Maddy. Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 sam bayer is fucking great you guys it wasn't like he didn't deserve recognition for all his work for biab
Hermione Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 But Wake Me Up When September Ends and Jesus Of Suburbia........... And including a segment about himself in BIAB . I'll be glad of a different director On the subject of editing, although all the angles on BIAB were great, i also found it a little annoying to have it constantly changing every second. Will be good to see a more focused view this time i think. Yeah it's still great to watch but there's annoying things about it. I'm excited to see what this one's like in comparison. Also I've just realized if they show you in the crowd you'll be in both! They've gotta dew it!
Fiona? Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 thanks for the link. but i am kinda mad that the video is ONLY in tokyo. A compilation would've been cooler. And plus, on the Last Night On Earth - EP, did anyone else notice the FEEDBACK? how are they gonna edit that out? thats alright though because it is gonna ROCK anyway! i mean, they played songs like Viva la Gloria, Redundant, When i come around, etc, how can that not be awesome?? anyway, i am really excited for the audio, because that is gonna be from a bunch of different shows. i hope they put in the old songs. Can't hardly wait for March 15!
LMC Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 And plus, on the Last Night On Earth - EP, did anyone else notice the FEEDBACK? how are they gonna edit that out? The LNOE EP was recorded and released in 2009, and the shows that will be on the DVD was from january this year. They're not the same recording.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I do think it's a pity that at the time of the Tokyo concerts, Billie hadn't incorporated (much of) the American Idiot musical themes into the songs, if you know what I mean. Things like how in Holiday he goes higher in the 'ent' in "a plastic bag on a monume-ent".
November's Storms Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Sam Bayer was great, and his work on the AI videos was for the most part very very good. But he is extremely egotistical! And a bit of a change will be nice
Maddy. Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 lol seriously american idiot, holiday, biab and bobd's awesomeness totally make up for the wreckage that was wmuwse and he also directed welcome to the black parade and famous last words for mcr and they were totally great too so i think he deserves the cred he got
