See, I'd wondered the same thing. He definitely wasn't using Auto-tune when he did that live, so why are so many people now assuming that the octave jump on AAF was done with Auto-tune? I think it's much more likely that that's just how he performed the song--maybe, maybe he re-did that vocal in the studio to ensure it was perfect, but I'm not hearing any obvious vocal modification.

That's my bad, I think. I didn't remember him doing that live at the show I was at, and it sounded kinda auto-tuney, so I just said that's the only place where it might've been used. Cause I can't really hear it anywhere else on the CD. But if he actually hit that note, I wouldn't be surprised or anything. Just thought it was the only place where I could actually hear possible evidence of tampering.

Sadly to say I am a little disappointed ....

cos it does not show the essence of GD concert ---> the connection between GD and the crowd.

I think it is because the album is consisted with broken bits of clips

BUT still I enjoy the live album :)

new choice of the songs :) and the album title XDD

When i bought it last night, when I paid for it , the cashier said at least three times "Awesome as Fuck"

I think it is funny that it seems he found the title rare and innovative ( you have to know I live in Hong Kong)

and I think by saying the title , he feels playful to do so :P

I guess that's what Green Day ( and this album too ) always means to show the essence of life is to " have fun! "

two more things I like,

I like at the back of the booklet, the use the photo where fans are holding "awesome as Fuck" paper with Billie Joe singing on stage :)

I like during JOS in the DVD , Billie Joe changed the lyrics "There is nothing wrong with me" to "There is something wrong with me" !

For those who has not watched it, enjoy it !

for those who watched it , but feel not satisfied with it ,

come on , find some spot you like, i am sure there are some , and then enjoy it :)

HaveFun !!!!

It's not just you though. A lot of people are pointing to that line at the whole of WWHC as evidence of Auto-tune usage on the CD, and I just don't hear it. Vocal tracks can have minor corrections done (including some pitch correction) without Auto-tune, sometimes even by having the artist come in and re-sing a few lines here and there.

Heh, well seeing as I didn't hear any autotune anywhere else, I thought maybe they had a magical version that sounds all natural and stuff. I'm a noob.

Yeah, it seems much more likely that he just overdubbed some lines in post, which is something every band does. Again, at least they're not re-recording entire songs in the studio.

Thank you! It's nice to hear someone appreciates my take on things. I think it's because a lot of people on here see my age and immediately think "Granddad...What's he know?". I think they fail to realise that I was a fan of Green Day before Dookie was released in England after seeing a band on David Letterman in 1994 play a song called "Basket Case" and absolutely loving it. Been with them ever since, through thick and thin (and fat).

Here's to the oldies! So come on , let's say it...... "kids today eh?".

HA fat, funny! Well Grandad, Grama here was lucky enough to live in the East Bay in the summers during 1990-1994! I got to see the very young and Tiny BJA b-4 dookie came out. My friend dragged me out one night to see this great indie band he thought I would like...and I fell in love

Yep...here's to us oldies!!!

Although I would still rather hang out with the "kids" from GDC than most of the losers my own age that think I'm a freek because I love GD so much =/

If you lived closer that would be a different story :)

I finally watched the DVD last night.

My favorite is definitely My Generation. I think that performance is one that I could watch over and over again.

The deluxe edition is #10 on the itunes top albums list. :)

Well, if someone happened to have ripped the audio from the dvd/blu-ray...

He's also wearing different ties and shirts, and using different guitars :P They used footage from different performances :)

He also changes hair colour a couple of times, and teleports himself around the stage. Also he can sing while he's jumping a couple of feet away from the microphone.

Just finished watching the Blu-ray :D

Whatever people might hear...

I'm pretty sure there's no auto-tuning on this CD. Do you all think Billie isn't able to hit those kinda notes? I mean, come on, it's Green Day. It just doesn't seem right to accuse them of having used auto-tune. It's not a very Green Day-ish thing to do, that's why I think all the songs on AAF are exactly the way they were recorded at the live shows.

Now call me naïve. I don't care. :P

It may have been Gene Simmons himself who once said that the only thing live on a KISS live album is the crowd noise.

I will forever be appreciative that Green Day is not one of those bands that feels the need to re-record everything and play crowd noise over it. It's also pretty damn sweet that they told us where every track on AAF came from--Queen's "Live Killers" is one of the best live albums out there, and to this day there's a lot of mystery over which tracks (or parts of tracks--some songs are from as many as five venues) came from where.

That wouldn't surprise me.

But yeah, Green Day seems to have a lot of integrity as far as that stuff goes, or at least as far as they can. Obviously some decisions aren't up to them, although I guess we never know for sure. Maybe they were totally against re-doing stuff in the studio but were convinced by their producer, or maybe they thought it'd be good to make it sound as great as possible. We may never know

Just finished listening the album and watching the DVD! First I watched the DVD, it was fucking awesome! Really, ah so great. For me the highlights were Static Age, Viva La Gloria and My Generation! Static Age was so much fun (Billie with that pink mask) and Jason's sax-solo was insane like always, it was so great to see on DVD. It have been always one of my favorite tracks from the 21st CBD. Viva la Gloria was so beautiful, and when the crowd sang "GLOOO-RIII-AAA!" it gave me goosebumps. VLG was way better on the DVD than on the album, maybe because I heard crowd singing so much better on DVD version. But it was great on the album too! My Generation was really fun! Pretty rare stuff right there, great to have it on DVD :) JoS was great as always and I was surprised that I laughed at the end of Good Riddance, because it's pretty wistful song. Great version! Oh, and I loved the ending of American Eulogy, when Billie sang "Nobody Likes You"! :) And after watching the DVD, I was so happy that they decided to film it in Tokyo, the crowd was so awesome and full of energy, maybe one of the best crowds what I've ever seen.

About the album, it was really, really great! It was so great to hear Pasalacqua, Holden Caufield and J.A.R. on the album. :) American Idiot was really cool and WMUWSE was so beautiful.

And I didn't hear any auto-tune, for me it sounded like the way Green Day sounds on every gig, better than any other band. I'm not intrested about this auto-tune stuff what's going on.

But after all, this is really great album! It's so great to be a Green Day fan, especially when get treats like this. :)

Oh yeah also, very pleased to see a photo of the Awesome As Fuck signs in the booklet

I'm pretty sure he really said the date live, they just cut the number out for the DVD because it's a compilation of two shows. ;)

Ha! I think you're right. Well really they should've cut the whole line out instead of making Billie look silly :D
