Yes! Today is the day when I'm going to have it. :) Is there any other location where it's released today?

I finally watched it. I loved it, the music and performances and stuff were amazing but I'm sad to have to agree with everyone saying the effects and stuff were lame. I didn't like all the effects that were in the videos they put up on YouTube and was hoping that the DVD wouldn't really be like that, but heeey. A lot of it was so unnecessary. Like the one I remember most was in Burnout (I think) when almost the entire song was covered in this ugly yellowish-green colour. It seemed to stop towards the last few songs which was good.

And I saw someone else mention this and it really bugged me too, when Billie would be like "Tre Cool on drums" or "Mike Dirnt!" or whatever and then they wouldn't show them. =/ I was like what, I love watching Tre do his tiny "solos" in Jesus of Suburbia and stuff.

But yes, my complaints aside it was good and I did enjoy it and I didn't really miss the backstage stuff in between songs either. It was nice to just watch the concert without interruptions. But I also don't think it's as good as BIAB. Some of my favourites were Viva La Gloria, Welcome to Paradise, My Generation and 21 Guns.

OH and okay, am I missing something? The back of the case has Cigarettes and Valentines listed as on the bonus DVD but I watched until the end of the credits and didn't see Cigarettes and Valentines. Is it not actually on the DVD, just the CD? I saw it when it was released with lyrics on YouTube too so I'm kind of confused about that.

ETA: I just watched the YouTube thing again and it's not an actual video it's just pictures, with the lyrics to C&V. But still, my case says it's on the DVD. Must be a mess up.

No, it's there. Go into "Songs" from the main menu, and it's at the end as a bonus video.

^ Thank you! Of course I didn't do that in the first place.

I was confused too, don't worry

Also, dunno if this has been mentioned, but I went to 3 Target's today and was told they didn't have AAF. Is Target not carrying it cause of the title? Or do my local Targets just suck? I had to go to Best Buy and they didn't even have the deluxe version.

Target does stock it, I know someone who works at a Target in CA.

must just be crap stores in your area.

Regardless of who does or does not agree with you, I love reading your posts....you are well spoken and that is rare today. I see your an oldie like me hope you have a career that involves you writting

Thank you! It's nice to hear someone appreciates my take on things. I think it's because a lot of people on here see my age and immediately think "Granddad...What's he know?". I think they fail to realise that I was a fan of Green Day before Dookie was released in England after seeing a band on David Letterman in 1994 play a song called "Basket Case" and absolutely loving it. Been with them ever since, through thick and thin (and fat).

Here's to the oldies! So come on , let's say it...... "kids today eh?".

I first got into them when a mate played me the 39 smooth album, He put it on tape for me and that was it! That had to be 89 or 90? I was 25 then! Granddad doesnt come into it!

I'll always have a soft spot for early Green Day, as a punk since '79 thats the style of the music I love. So when I heard old songs like Burnout put through a voice decoder or autotune, whatever you want to call it, was a bit of a shocker. Green Day dont really need to sound like Cher "Do you believe in Love" (OK slightly over the top example, but If you dont hear that warbling vocal you need to invest in some cotton buds). I find that using aids to enhance your voice plastic/fase , isnt it only a step up from using backing tapes.

Im glad that green day have achived the sucess they have and long may it continue. Perhaps this era of Green Day is not for me!

I absolutely love the CD/DVD. Did anyone else notice that Billie Joe is wearing different pants during parts of the video in Cigarettes and Valentine. In the close up shots he is wearing the red and black striped pants but in the shots that are further away, he is wearing darker color pants...not red and black striped pants.

He's also wearing different ties and shirts, and using different guitars :P They used footage from different performances :)

I haven't got it yet, because obviously Estonia's such an amazing place to live, where everything comes on sale days or even weeks later.. :) Ok, I know this sucks. I'm just so excited about it and I can't wait to have it. I'm sure it's epic after seeing some of those videos on GD's YouTube account. Once I have it, it's going to blow my mind. Yeah.

So my copy finally arrived five minutes ago and I stuck it straight into the lappie. Dunno if it's the CD, or VLC or the CD drive, but I was just getting all teary-eyed at the sound of MY crowd cheering the band onto the stage and there was a sudden jump - the first two lines of the song missing.

So I'm rushing off to the PC now to see if it's the same on there.

Do I love Green Day? Yes. Yes, I do. And this is why I am disappointed by AAF and why I wholeheartedly agree with you.

There's really nothing I can add, you've said it all, just one thing: how is 'Tré getting fatter' on the positive side?

I like how in the DVD Billie goes "Remember this date. January 2010". He doesn't know the date

Been listening to the CD loads, how cool is American Idiot?! It's such a kick-arse version of the song with those growly vocals and "I'm losing my fucking mind!". And as he always does live he makes sure to say "FUCK America" and "FAGGOT America" as loudly and clearly as possible, I always love that. I think my favourite thing is hearing so many old songs though, hearing them done now so long after they were first recorded. I don't have any preference between their older and newer songs when I'm at a show, but hearing up-to-date versions of the older songs on a CD is such a treat

At the end of the 'Paper Lanterns/2000 Light Years Away' iTunes bonus track, Billie says something like "this next song is ____, alright?!" And I can't for the life of me figure out what song he says, cuz u can tell they tried to mute that part, but it bled into the crowd noise. Anyone know what he's saying? Just out of curiosity

according to setlist.fm it should be Hitchin a Ride.

Stray thoughts:

I love watching Mike's facial expressions.

Although I'm kind of sick of the song, 21 Guns may be my favorite performance on the DVD.

I'm writing a review of it for my school's newspaper, so I'm reserving/collecting my thoughts for that.

OK, it plays fine on the PC! *huge sigh of relief*

Unfortunately I only have time to listen to one track, so obviously I chose 21st Century Breakdown - from our concert at Wembley!!!!

I totally welled up as the crowd - MY CROWD! - started cheering, and by the time they started singing I was lost. I was just seeing it all again, tears rolling down my face and a big stupid grin. God, I love this band.

I have to say, listening to the mix on this track should be an education for anyone who ever thought all Mike does is backing vocals. This is a song where Mike carries the melody in the chorus, while Billie takes what I guess is called the alto part or counter-melody. Unfortunately they don't take Billie's mic down a bit for the chorus so it sounds a bit odd there.

I love the way you can really hear how many of us there were there, and how fervently we were all singing! I've read about bands who don't encourage the audience to sing along, and I always thank whatever powers there might be that I fell in love with a band who love it when we sing louder than they do!

Finally (for this track, anyway!), people have reported hearing auto-tune on the last note of this track, where Billie goes up on "co-ONS". I'm not a sound-mixer or anything, but to me it sounds exactly the same as it did in the two concerts I went to. In fact, when he did this at the O2 (23rd October 2009), he got a big cheer for hitting such a high note so perfectly. And now I'm going to rip it all to my mp3 so I can listen while I'm out!
