My Generation after When I Come Around. American Eulogy after 21 Guns. The Static Age after Letterbomb.

That's all I can think of.

My only complaint is the lack of KFAD, because I want that fucking epic Hey Jude from Wembley.

I'm really disappointed they didn't take either that or the also epic When I come Around

so go do what you like,

and I have sex with Mike!

Fair enough. That's why I gave you the benefit of the doubt the first time. Yeah, but there are plenty of trolls and twats around here despite.

i think now i exactly know about what actually some persons are complaining (like "robotic voice")...i can hear a difference between billie's voice at AAF (cd and dvd) and the studio records (cant explain what difference because you just need to hear o.O dunno how to explain :D )

but billie's voice at AAF is nearly exactly the same like his voice at the concerts ive visited..so no fuckin auto-tuning, Green Day dont need this

maybe you should try to entertain masses with a 3 hour concert (all around the world) ... without loosing your "original voice" a bit

Wow, I love how fiercely protective some people are of this band. You'd have thought people had accused BJ of snorting crack off a midgets butt cheek.

Dude, Green Day DO need this because they are a money making behemoth of a machine and their record company is going to make sure everything they release is absolutely perfect. Altering a gig in post production doesn't make them bad people. It's just the way of the world, sorry.

Are you sure the retirement home has a dvd player?

Wahay!! Great response sir! Kudos to the quick thinking my age-ravaged brain no longer affords me.

Just finished my first watch through...

I'm utterly speechless... So much energy!

I could write a 5 page review on how amazing AAF is, but I'll just sum it up by saying: Wow. :)

The second half of 21stCB is so powerful and crazy, Holiday actually blew my mind (more than usual), something about Static Age just sent constant shivers down my spine (and that lead in from Holiday :runaround: ), Viva La Gloria is so incredibly beautiful, Burnout was awesome (but I didn't like the black and white boringness of the video part), Geek Stink Breath may be one of my favorites on the DVD, Welcome to Paradise was mind-blowing as usual, When I Come Around? probably the best performance I've seen of that song (I loved the beginning part of Billie with the crowd), My Generation was so exciting (I can tell they had fun with that one!), She made me wanna dance the fuck around, 21 Guns has the most amazing piano breakdown ever, American Eulogy was definitely a great choice for the DVD, Jesus of Suburbia was almost as good as the BIAB version (but some of the newish parts are better), and Good Riddance brought me very close to complete tears (I love the little "off" note Billie does at the end there)...

In terms of the auto-tune, I kinda hear what you guys are talking about, but I don't really think it's auto-tune, at least not all of it. There may be a little of it in there, but even so, I don't think it really takes away from the songs at all!

Can't wait to have it on Blu-Ray!!!

Thanks for putting into words what I couldn't. That's exactly the point I was trying to make. Yes there is autotune in there and post-production giggery-pokery but does it take away from the performance? Absolutely not.

Well in 5 minutes AAF will be aired in my bedroom. It's gonna be legendary!!!! :bunny:

They actually cut part of the instrumental bit out of AE, and it's one of the more awkward cuts on the DVD. Probably didn't want that guitar "hey-oh" bit stretching on for three to five minutes, as it sometimes did live! Still a great performance of the song--I'd never seen them end AE with "Nobody Likes You" before, and don't know how many times they actually did that.

Yeah I thought they cut some out cause it suddenly goes from the middle of the verse to a random part of the instrumental bit. But my favourite Mike bit's still there so I don't mind :D. Probably my favourite song on the DVD.

All of this! Except I didn't really miss King For A Day, I found myself missing Minority more. Would have liked the Brain Stew/Jaded combo too perhaps.

American Eulogy made up for the lack of Minority for me. I really just wanted one or more of my approved list of silly songs on there , I knew they weren't gonna be but I still miss them. And King For A Day is just such an integral part of the show I can't help but miss it.

I must say though even without the silly songs, they really did capture that cheerful feeling you get at a Green Day show. There's loads of little looks and random funny actions and interactions from and between the various bandmembers that made me laugh. I think it conveys the happiness and excitement of both the band and crowd (and how involved with the show the crowd is) better than I've seen before. Lacking slightly in silliness but they got the energy and happiness perfectly so I can live with it.

i know that in a way its just earning money(especially for warner) but green day as a band dont need this...sorry if you dont get the point of this

but this "auto-tuned" thing can be understanded differently..someone hears more than another one

It kinda sounds like Billie's using a different microphone or DI or an effect or something of that nature on most of the older songs on the DVD. That's probably what people are confusing for auto-tune...

he does have different microphones that he uses for different songs.

and I'm pretty sure that he changes mics between the old and new songs.

good point :)

Mmm yeah that's the good stuff :eyebrows:

I get a kick out of knowing one of the voices in the crowd on 21st CB is mine haha. And when I'm listening to it I'm picturing the insanity of that pit it in my mind.......it's brilliant.

how can you actually hear the difference between "the original billie voice" and the "auto-tuned" one??

well, ill put it simply... go to your itunes and listen to Who Wrote Holden Caulfield off Kerplunk.

go to

and listen to the first bit with just BJ palm muting at the beginning (from 55 secs)

go to itunes and listen to the Awesome As Fuck version of it.

I'll be honest, BJ goes out of tune a bit before his massive 'LETS GO!' in the raw footage. But still, it's his raw vocals that we want, not autotuned ones.

I honestly don't hear any difference at all there...
