captain peroxide Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 God, you all sound so pretentious whining about every feature of the DVD/CD. Just fucking enjoy it. ...Relax. It's a new release. Some people are going to want to talk about every single detail in depth, and there's nothing wrong with that.
EvanAsFuck Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Havin' a bunch of trouble finding it in Blu-Ray around here...
DorsetGirl Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 God, you all sound so pretentious whining about every feature of the DVD/CD. Just fucking enjoy it. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, and this is surely one of the better places to express that opinion - in a thread dedicated to the new album. I haven't seen any whining, just people saying what they like and what they're not so keen on. You don't have to be giving people orders about what they're allowed to say. I haven't got my copy yet so I can't comment on the editing, auto-tune etc, but it sounds to me as if people are hearing the same things in different ways. Personally I don't have a problem with that.
mankat13 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Havin' a bunch of trouble finding it in Blu-Ray around here... Where have you tried im about to go to best buy. if they dont have it im gonna go to target. i would just call but how awkward would that call be. "Hi i was wondering if you have Awesome As Fuck on blu ray." lol
raven052 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Love it! And this is coming from someone who generally doesn't much like live albums, usually makes me pine for actually living the live experience, and though that's still the case here, there has been quite a few bits that've genuinely made me smile. Even though I've heard it a few times already, can't get enough of 'Cigarettes and Valentines', and really enjoying a lot of the older songs too. Haven't watched the DVD yet, very much looking forward to doing so, since I tend to like live DVD's more than the audio. Just gotta get my laptop to agree with the DVD first... (silly thing will probably get confused as to what it is and what it's meant to be doing with it...) There you go, there's my opinion, not very professional, but honest all the same.
longlostson Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Where have you tried im about to go to best buy. if they dont have it im gonna go to target. i would just call but how awkward would that call be. "Hi i was wondering if you have Awesome As Fuck on blu ray." lol ive tried both places and its a no from both for the blu-ray. i went to my record store (that i figured would have it for some crazy price) and they didnt have it. so i got the reg version. i think the blu-ray has just gotta be on amazon

mankat13 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 ive tried both places and its a no from both for the blu-ray. i went to my record store (that i figured would have it for some crazy price) and they didnt have it. so i got the reg version. i think the blu-ray has just gotta be on amazon Oh this sucks. I figured since bestbuy.com had two versions on the site one for 12.99 and one for 19.99 they would have it in stores. Here i come reg version. :/
bollard_11 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 People always need to criticise. First there was moans that there would be no album, then when it was announced people complained about where it was filmed, now when its released people over analyse and criticise every minute detail of the album. Personally I believe its a standard live album. You can hear how well songs translate live and in my opinion the best songs on it are Pasalaqua, Who Wrote Holden Caulfield and Cigarettes and Valentines. These are songs that have not had versions released since the early 90s so I enjoy listening to a more mature and better sounding band (production wise) play these songs or in the case of C&V its a new song we finally have a physical copy of. The DVD itself, sure the camera is shaky in places and some effects are over-used. But again it shows how well this band plays it songs. Again pretty standard live album with no special features . What more could you ask for? The standards Green Day fans expect after the amazing Bullet in a Bible are too high I believe. There iss no way Green Day could replicate a live album that good without copying what they had previously done and Awesome as Fuck completely captures the energy and enthusiasm of a live Green Day show over the last tour

Here i come reg version. :/ yea it blows. it might be different in your region but for me in NC thats how it is. and does anybody know if u buy the blu ray off of amazon can you put it on your ipod? i looked online for the link, or just anymore info on it but cant find anything other than what Matt posted on GDA.
Mari91 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 not sure if this has been mentioned but iTunes is offering a free download of "When I Come Around" off of AAF
Kaddi. Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Why the autotuning though? its so false! I don't hear any autotuning. Not in this song and not in any other one on the CD.
IscoredWaddlesgoals Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Well too much editing does usually really annoy me but it didn't in this, there's funny colours used and stuff but I genuinely don't think it interferes with watching the band. Even though I'm not an effects fan I still really really enjoyed it, it captures the feeling of a Green Day show. Maybe look up a few songs from it on youtube and see what you think? I've seen a couple and it doesn't look too bad, it's just whether I'd want to put up with it all the way through. I'll maybe have a look at in on Amazon and see how much it is (I'm trying to save up for an important handbag).
pasalaska Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 I don't hear any autotuning. Not in this song and not in any other one on the CD. you're not alone, don't worry. Even if it is there (I don't wanna say people are wrong/right), I can't hear anything, so I'll just live in happy ignorance land. People hearing auto-tune are on crack. or maybe it's us that are('nt) hearing things
Jaymee!! Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 I successfully avoided listening/watching everything that was leaked before I got the CD, up until this morning when I put Paper Lanterns/2000 LYA on my playlist at work. It came on, and I just about broke down in front of everyone. I bought it right after work, and I'm listening to it for the first time. KYE just started and I'm bawling my eyes out. It's so amazing. AND I CAN HEAR ME SCREAMING
November's Storms Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey. OK, kiddos, this review may sound a bit negative so don't get your panties in a bunch and let me finish Alas, this was not to be and, incredibly, the editing in AAF is even MORE frenetic that BIAB. It looks like Michael Bay directed it. I was waiting for that fruity burnt tobacco filter he uses on everything to crop up. Quite frankly, after 10 minutes, I was waiting for Optimus Prime to show up. Too many camera angles, the video has been transferred into so many different colours and textures that it takes you out of the moment. Case and point: 21 Guns. That blue filter that's used for 75% of the song looks like shit but as soon as the solo starts and the pyro fires up, we're back to full hi-def and it looks phenomenal. So why bother making Billie look like a member of The Blue Man Group for the vast majority of it? Also, as we all know, the DVD is a few nights cut together. The problem being, there's some horrible edits in it. They even make the cardinal sin of using audio from one night over the video of the other night so it isn't quite synced with Billie's mouth. NO, NO, NO. Don't do that. Pick the best version of the song from both nights and use it, don't use footage from both nights in the same song. Don't download it from somewhere, that's illegal and makes you worse than Hitler. It is better than Bullet In A BIble? No, it's not. Don't knock the guy for an opinion. He likes, maybe even loves Green Day too, but this release could have been SOOOOO much better. I won't knock you for having an opinion but I will disagree with several of your points. Maybe it was just your intro that pissed me off, I'm sure you're not but it sounded pretentious and patronizing. BIAB is cut and changed way more than AAF is, thats one of the things I liked about AAF. I found much more consistency and that it was easier to watch overall. Like Michael Bay directed, really? Aside from some slow mo's and colour changes there was nothing to suggest something on his scale. 21 Guns was very blue alright, but I guess it created a mood. It certainly made me appreciate the full colour use at the end all the more. If the whole thing was unfiltered, the fact that it was would have gone largely unappreciated. The cardinal sin? I would rather see the best footage and hear the pest performance and "suffer" through a few slight moments of inconsistency. And I dunno if it was sarcasm or not but I really don't see that much of a problem with downloading. Amazing to see them do My Generation, love the way Good Riddance finishes, love the saxophone bit in Static Age, and oh my god American Eulogy , just so much great stuff. And it brought back great memories. Oh and also, the intro at the beginning as so brilliant my sister and I had to rewind it and watch it 4 times before we could watch the rest All of this! Except I didn't really miss King For A Day, I found myself missing Minority more. Would have liked the Brain Stew/Jaded combo too perhaps. Whaaaaat?! You should bother! Even if it's just to watch the intro because that is not to be missed Yeah exactly. We may pick faults and flaws, but overall it is still an incredible album, well worth both hearing and watching! Is it really annoying with all the editing though ? I don't want to buy something I'll only watch once because it looks like the cameraman filmed it after too many fizzy sweets. No, there is editing but it is still very much watchable! Why the autotuning though? its so false! I didn't notice the autotuneing in this song at all, so if it's there its very slight. Hardly qualifies as "so false" Where have you tried im about to go to best buy. if they dont have it im gonna go to target. i would just call but how awkward would that call be. "Hi i was wondering if you have Awesome As Fuck on blu ray." lol What's there to be ashamed about? You'll be asking someone over the age of 18, and its just an album title, you didn't decide it. You've never said "fuck" before? If it is such a problem you can hide behind the safety barrier of calling it "Green Day's new live album"
Slappy. Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 I just got it finally, and it is just as amazing as I thought it would be People are always gonna complain about something, but in my opinion everything is perfect. It's great to have songs like Burnout and J.AR as apposed to just stuff from the American Idiot/ 21CB eras. And as for the 'autotune' my hearing must be terrible because I honestly didn't hear it at all...like I said people are always gonna complain about something, but it is amazing and I'm more than happy with it. Definitely worth the wait, I'm off to listen to it again
Jaymee!! Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 My only complaint is the lack of KFAD, because I want that fucking epic Hey Jude from Wembley.
Punx89 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 I got it YAY.I will listen to the CD first and then I ll watch the DVD.Im so excited guys..!!!!!

bollard_11 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 OMG WHERE WHERE WHERE give me seconds into the song! I wanna hear! Just listen for the only Canadian accent in the crowd "AAAYYYEEEEEE OOOHHHH"
pasalaska Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Just listen for the only Canadian accent in the crowd "AAAYYYEEEEEE OOOHHHH" don't you mean "AAAYYYEEEEEE OOOOHHHH eh?" ?
