elephantstone Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I think the DVD was aimed to be a 'bonus' to the CD, so they weren't pulling out all the stops for it. Yeah I think you're right, though to be fair Bullet In A Bible had a few interview bits in and you could argue the same about that. Loving this though, it's awesome.
idc Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I just watched the DVD for the firt time. Overall, i think it beats BIAB for concert footage. It does a great job of capturing the experience in my opinion, and you can really see the enjoyment the band were having on stage during this tour. Some of the performances are outstanding, better than i remember at the time. My Generation is brilliant, and Time Of Your Life is just perfect. It was great seeing Mike's 'psycho' faces during Geek Stink Breath and others. Even saw Jason White getting in to it more than i'm used to. I was really glad to see 'the big 3' (The Jason's and Jeff) getting good air time. And to all the people doubting the contribution of the Japanese fans before this was released, i think this puts that to bed. Pure Awesomeness... As Fuckness. Amen tony posts a review, and it's the usual. I agree in every single point. I think it's not possible to capture the feeling during the actual live show any better. the cameras right in the pit are amazing, especially when you have some arms infront of the lense. you have the feeling you're actuially in there, only the heat is missing. that green day do sound amazing live is something we all know already. talking about the big three, it is amazing how much and often you can see them. thinking about BIAB, you may see jason white in some total-frames. i love how they got a fixed part of the live crew. seeing freeze playing piano so much, or only seeing jeff singing along, i really really like that. don't have to talk about jasons solo during the static age now (saxophone solo >>>>>>>> guitar solo). but tony has said it all. let's hope all the japanese will be able to enjoy this as much as we do right now. pray for japan, and pray for this amazing live we all have.
Holly Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I thought it was bloody amazing. I reaaally love that My Generation is on there I really missed the some of the usuals though, in particular King for a Day. I didn't think I'd be that bothered by them not being there but it seemed strange without them. Having no WMUWSE was bizarre as well.. I was a little disappointed in the crowd, it looked ace when they were all going crazy, but half the time the cameras cut to them and they weren't all singing and just looked a bit, well bored.. Especially in Good Riddance, I mean at that point in the shows I had tears streaming down my face and I was absolutely screaming my heart out, hanging on to every single word, I didn't really get that emotion from the crowd. I would've loved a bit more back stage shenanigans as well.. I'll stop moaning though It is really fantastic, can't wait to watch it again later on
yourmumgoestocollege Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 If i could compare this to bullet in a bible in anyway it would be this includes alot more of the backing and which i like
Sanity Loan Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Hey, anyone who already has the DVD or Blu-Ray, got a question. In the 5.1 Surround mix of the audio, is the audience restricted to the rear channels, or are they mixed into all channels of audio? Asking because some bands will use the front channels for music only and the back channels for audience only, which creates insane quality for the songs, almost like a second studio recording. That is what I'm interested in as well. When I get it tomorrow I'll be sure to let you know. Like you said, that'd be great if the crowd were in the rear channels. Mainly because of Cigarettes and Valentines
Guest Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 That is what I'm interested in as well. When I get it tomorrow I'll be sure to let you know. Desensitized09 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I got mine in the mail today! I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever. I'm so happy with everything, lol. The DVD was amazing and the CD was so emotional to listen to even though my concert wasn't even on the CD, haha. It just brings me back to when I was at the show and I can just feel it... idk it's weird, lol. I'm sure you all understand what I mean. That's why I love live albums so much. It just brings back memories. As for the DVD, it was so awesome to see the band kicking ass in Tokyo! I wish I could have been in that crowd, haha! Anyway, the whole thing was fucking fantastic. I'll be playing this CD/DVD on repeat for the next several weeks, lol
drumstick Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I finally got it today!! actually 2 days earlier, since I was told that it won't be out here before wednesday! I can't stop watching the DVD! It totally brings back memories and it makes me wanna jump all over the room I also think it's so awesome that there are such an amazing oldies on CD as Pasalacqua, JAR, Burnout, Holden Caulfield... absolutely epic!

Sanity Loan Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 does anyone know what time itunes is releasing this for the us? Probably around midnight eastern
November's Storms Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I think I'm immune to the hey-ohs, I'm so used to them I don't even notice . But I never realized he said let's go fucking crazy so much! I think they tracked down every song from the tour where he said it and put them all on the CD. One of the most interesting things in Cometbus #54 is what he says about Billie shouting "get those fucking hands up" My Generation is brilliant It was great seeing Mike's 'psycho' faces during Geek Stink Breath and others. Even saw Jason White getting in to it more than i'm used to. I was really glad to see 'the big 3' (The Jason's and Jeff) getting good air time. Totally agree! My Generation stole the show for me. And yeah it was great to see the big three so often, and even better with the fact that they were introduced as the big three at the beginning! Even though most of Jaff's airtime showed him swaying side to side holding the mike stand I think the DVD was aimed to be a 'bonus' to the CD, so they weren't pulling out all the stops for it. The thing I love about AAF is it is quite obviously a gift from Green Day to the real big fans. Things the like album's name, the tracklist for both the CD and DVD, the big three, and some others that elude me now. It just seemed as if this was made for the dedicated followers rather than the masses. And I love that. I thought it was bloody amazing. I reaaally love that My Generation is on there I really missed the some of the usuals though, in particular King for a Day. I didn't think I'd be that bothered by them not being there but it seemed strange without them. Having no WMUWSE was bizarre as well.. Now ive heard it on the DVD I can heare it on the CD. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one thinking Burnout sounds nothing like Kanye West. The colour scheme is a bit annoying but the sound quality is great, and I love how the drums sound during the solo
Sanity Loan Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 They album is available on the UK iTunes. And the bonus tracks are available for individual purchase. So I'm guessing that the US Store will follow
Velocity Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 I just saw an ad on TBS for AAF. I didn't realize it was on at first, but I don't think they actually said the title of the album
Sanity Loan Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Has anyone noticed the banner ad on Ultimate-Guitar? It's kind of cool
Jacob. Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 I just saw an ad on TBS for AAF. I didn't realize it was on at first, but I don't think they actually said the title of the album Who would've thought Warner knew how to promote a Green Day album.
EvanAsFuck Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Has anyone noticed the banner ad on Ultimate-Guitar? It's kind of cool Noticed that today... It looks so sick!

November's Storms Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 wait wait wait. my generation is on the dvd?? Yep. And for me its the best song on it!
minorty13 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Quick question for those who have already seen it: Compared to BIAB, is there more or less backstage footage? One more day!!!!
Jacob. Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Here's this review I wrote for the album. I wrote it just tonight, and it might have some spelling errors. In September 2004, Green Day released the Grammy-winning, multi-platinum album American Idiot. Following the release, the band started touring the world, with the band later playing at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes. During the 2 night stay at Milton Keynes, the band wasn't aware that the sold-out concerts that they were playing were going to be released on DVD. 4 months later, Bullet in a Bible was born. Now, in March 2011, 2 years after touring in support of their 2009 album 21st Century Breakdown, the band is releasing a new album - appropriately named Awesome as F**k. When you buy Awesome as F**k, you get a CD, and a Bonus DVD included. The CD includes fan favorites like Holiday, 21 Guns, and Wake Me Up When September Ends - as well as hard-core fan favorites such as Who Wrote Holden Caulfield, J.A.R., and Burnout. The CD also includes a not-so-new song titled Cigarettes and Valentines, supposedly being part of the lost album Cigarettes and Valentines. The Bonus DVD comes with songs such as 21st Century Breakdown, Welcome to Paradise, She, and 2 bonus videos of My Generation and Cigarettes and Valentines. Overall, the album appeals to both casual listeners and the hard-core fans - from the band's Independent Label past to the the Mainstream music industry.
