basKT_case90 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Did anyone get it in Oz today? JB HiFi online says 18th but not sure if that's preorder? Yep! got mine today from Sanity. JBHIFI have it as well, though oddly, it was the only bluray that didnt have any plastic wrap. all other bluray's did.

Can't wait to watch the DVD later. On another note, I think it's kinda funny how an album called "Awesome as Fuck" can be G-rated.

Fjelljo Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I watched the video of Boulevard of Broken Dreams, and the sad irony of Billie Joe screaming "We're alive" to the Tokyo audience made me think that if there's a slightly bit of punk and heart left in their rich and capitalist bodies they should donate most of their Awsome as fuck-money to help Japan in their days of crisis. Anja Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I bought the CD yesterday already Yup, I drove to the preview last night and when I went to a local record store, they already had it on their shelf O.o No idea why but I was beyond happy The preview was AWESOME!!!! The cinema was pretty empty though but whatever. We were actually "warned" about the quality, the woman at the counter said it would be shaky and whatnot. Then we took a Green Day quiz with 5 questions. Funny thing was, one of the questions was actually wrong. You had 3 answers but all three were wrong so I told the woman about it but she didnt really care. Then, before the concert started, she came to us and announced the winners. It was like 10 winners but she only had 2 cds. So she said "I'm gonna ask you a question now and the person that answers the quickest will win." So she asked "When and how did GD start?" I waited for like 5 seconds but nobody said anything so I went ahead and answered. That's how I won my second copy of Awesome as fuck The one she gave me was actually a promo copy but it looks just the same as the "normal" one. Anyway, the DVD is awesome!!! I also got a free poster after the preview Oh, and I have a few flyers from the album/preview shows if anyone wants one. Not sure if its worth the shipping though Btw: The German version has one bonus video track which is Cigarettes and Valentines. Since I have two copies now, I'd be happy if someone wants to buy it off me. Only thing I dislike is that it's way too short. It's 1h and 25 min only And also, the backstage stuff...well, isnt really backstage stuff. It's mostly just fans that are being shown and also, there are no breaks between the songs. So, e.g. when the intro of the next songs starts, they are showing fans outside the venue. Not what I expected but okay, better than nothing.

My first impressions after listening and watching: I love the pictures in the little booklet, especially Mike in Irvine and Tre in Chula Vista ( this guy can fly, man). CD: Compared to BIAB I like this setlist more, the perfect mixture of new songs and old songs. The guitar-solo during American Idiot is absolutely sick ( in a positv way) The sound quality is pretty good for a live album. DVD: First of all, in the current situation, I hope all the kids down there in Japan are healthy and all right and are able to watch this thing. To the show: Like every Green Day show brilliant and powerful even without KFAD and Minority. I love how Jeff Matika is dancing at the beginning of American Eulogy and how Billie plays “HEY-HO” on guitar. Another highlight Mike`s bass solo during My Generation.

smetz Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I've been listening to the audio stream and when it got to 21 guns I was excited because I was at that show in Mountain View, but totally disappointed that they cut out Billie's speech that should be somewhere in the middle of the song of him saying how he was happy to be home and stuff. I had assumed the reason they chose that version of the live song was because of that speech and the emotion he put into it. The rest of it is great, but I just don't understand why they would cut something like that out.

Its the worst thing ever did Probably I noticed cause I use to hear more live versions than studio tracks Just listen J.A.R on Michigan...
