Cym Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Hey, this might be kind of off-topic, but I was thinking that maybe since the video version of AAF was filmed in Japan, maybe they could consider donating a portion of the proceeds from AAF to help out those in Japan with the disaster? If someone already suggested this, let me know, it was just a thought.
tommycharles Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I wondered if it might not have been a bad choice to put C&V next to Burnout, and the cut between the two clips in this makes it all the more obvious how similar the two songs are... I enjoy them both immensely but a slightly rearranged tracklist might have helped C&V stand out a bit. In other news, wow, the middle section of this CD is the most unexpected thing GD have put out in several years. Very cool indeed.

If someone already suggested this, let me know, it was just a thought. I think someone did bring this up not too long ago but yeah I agree with you, I think it would be a great thing to do. I have a good feeling that they're going to donate to help out the people of Japan not only because AAF was filmed there, but also because they're pretty compassionate guys in general.
porksoda Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I don't want to sound like a dick or anything, but I just watched the Holiday video from AAF and I kind of question them using footage from Japan for the live DVD. I mean, both American Idiot and 21CB were written (mostly) about living in America, yet both of Green Day's live DVD's were filmed in other countries. It's not that I really care that much, as I'm stoked for the DVDs and I love Green Day as much as anyone else here, but you think that they'd have gotten a better response from an American audience for songs like 'American Idiot' and 'East Jesus Nowhere'.

These songs are not just American, there are plenty of individuals who interpret the lyrics for their own situation, and by all accounts, the crowds at these shows in Japan were great. I've been to shows in the US where the crowds were pretty crap, so I don't really think nationality really matters too much in terms of understanding or appreciating the lyrics
KardiniaPark Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Hi Guys. I've just done a review for Awesome as Fuck on www.sludgefactory.com.au . It should be up on the site about this time tomorrow if you would like to give it a read or even easier if you join the facebook page ( http://www.facebook.com/#!/sludgefactory.com.au ) You can read the review straight from there as soon as it goes up! Cheers - Shane
Mar Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 My life would be made so much better if the whole thing leaks. I'm gonna buy it, of course, but I need to review it for our newspaper, and that would give me more than one day to do so (like I'll have if I can't get it until March 22)! Either way, I'm excited. Mainly because I'll get to debate my fellow editors on how to write "fuck."
Nmd Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 ONE MORE WEEK I haven't watched any videos yet, can't wait to see it all together Although, I'm surprised that I'm more excited about the album than the video this time around
GuitarPunk94 Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I...have...to..resist...from...alll..those...videos...and...30sec samples..argh!!!!

Punk-tastic32 Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I went to the music store intending to by a Rise Against album, but AAF was on pre-sale there! I bought it and I can actually pick it up on the 20th! But the best part? There's a movie screening on the 21st!!!!! I'm so excited!!!! Apparently When you pre-order you're put in a drawing for shirts and other merch. I AM OFFICIALLY EXCITED BEYOND REPAIR! Though I don't have anyone to go to the movie screening with...
Karen. Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I'm not sure if this has been mentioned as I haven't been able to read the whole thread but want to ask anyway. (Apologies if it has been covered) Irish iTunes finally put AAF up for pre-sale but Paper Lanterns/2000 Light Years Away isn't listed. Does anyone know if this song is still being released or is US only? I really don't want to miss out on these 2 songs - love them both. It says the track list can change, but I'm not too hopeful given that it comes out this week. Has anyone else had this issue with iTunes in other countries? Thanks.
The Platypus! Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I've seen the Welcome To Paradise and Boulevard Of Broken Dreams videos on youtube now I'm just so excited for the actual DVD hurry up!!

I wouldn't completely consider EJN to be an American based song, I can think of many countries (the UK for example) where religion creates a split in society and means that we have to question it.
Katarina. Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 http://greendayauthority.com/audio/AwesomeAsFuck-Samples.mp3 30 second samples for you guys Must. Resist. Listening. To. Those. 30. Second.
