captain peroxide Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 You're not the only one. I really hope the DVD isn't overly edited. BiaB did it pretty tastefully, but if every fourth shot is in slow-mo, or has some kind of effect, I'm gonna be annoyed. It's not a 2 hour music video, it's a live dvd.
Sanity Loan Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 21 Guns vid was great! the only thing that bothered me tho (other than the heads and such being cut off) was that 95% of the vid was in blue overlay... although this was probably the right move since there isnt a lot of color on stage but it does make me worry that all the videos will be severely edited like this... still a great video overall but i dont really want a repeat of BIAB where every other shot is edited in some way or another... i feel like im the only person like this..... let the hate begin! Yes, the blue-ness of it concerns me. I don't like it for some reason and I do not know that reason. I agree that it DOES need something since the stage can be a bit colorless on this song. But in the show, aren't the lights blue anyway? I think I'm remembering right from when I saw them. I do however like the red tone to the Cigs and Vals video... it looks great. Maybe because my favorite color red

I haven't watched the 21 Guns video but I agree haha! I want it as un-messed around with as possible. I just wanna watch the band perform. Like, for me the only thing that makes a professionally shot DVD better than a youtube video is being able to watch the band really clearly. So if they constantly change the shot and add a load of effects so you can barely focus on a bandmember for more than a second at a time it just defeats the object of making a concert DVD as far as I'm concerned. So I hope it isn't like that!

To be honest in my opinion BIAB is a little over-edited at some points. But that 21 Guns Video looked worse at soe points, with the blue-ish color and all. I just hope it looks better on a TV screen.
Nickofsuburbia Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 But in the show, aren't the lights blue anyway? I do however like the red tone to the Cigs and Vals video... it looks great. Maybe because my favorite color red yea the lights are blue but theyre kinda dim until the chorus/bridge part and the editing in Cig and Vals was more tolerable i guess because I saw that as more of a music video rather a concert DVD thing same with WTP too - it was very distorted but at least it wasnt totally blue and grey I haven't watched the 21 Guns video but I agree haha! I want it as un-messed around with as possible. I just wanna watch the band perform. same but i think it does need very little amount (like a black and white or a semi distorted here and there) just so its different from the general YouTube vids

I think I'm remembering right from when I saw them. the lights during 21 guns and BOBD are deffo blue, but i have the feeling too, that it's a little very strong in these vids. :/ we'll see ...
Tubbie Head Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Ok, I'm not watching any new videos, and not going to reaad anything on this thread... Only saw C&V since I didn't even know it was going to be on the DVD at that time... It will be much better to watch the whole thing and be excited for every single song to come on! So excited!
veroPasalacqua Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 ^ FTW STERN?!?!?! SERIOUSLY STERN !?!?!?!? I DIDNT EXPECT THAT AT ALL my thoughts here.. I was like: ohmygod ''Stern'' IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE ?
Alan86 Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I'm not bothered about the blue tint, it's the cameras cutting peoples heads out that's annoying
Metanoia Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 my thoughts here.. I was like: ohmygod ''Stern'' IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE ? Apparently it is.
Bastard of 1967 Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Here's BOBD in 1920x1080 HD with resynced audio. The Youtube rip I pulled earlier was really hosed up in a few spots. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=59RXLVD1
Bastard of 1967 Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 ...and for what it's worth, here's 21 Guns from Stern.de. I fixed the aspect ratio, but the quality is still pretty poor (especially the chopped-off edits)...as the saying goes, you can't equalize what ain't there to begin with. It's the best we can do 'til a better-quality clip gets posted to MySpace or YouTube. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FZ579UBA
Burnout98 Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I'm not going to watch anymore of these new release vids. It spoils it for the album.
November's Storms Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 whoa... I'm a dude, and that 21 Guns video legitimately made me cry. First time that's ever happened to me with a Green Day song. Beautiful. Having a dick doesn't mean we can't cry I do however like the red tone to the Cigs and Vals video... it looks great. Maybe because my favorite color red "Red alert is the colour of your paper valentines", no surprises why they used red I suppose. And yeah it looks awesome.

I agree, but I keep my hopes up that the rest of the DVD isn't edited that way since the WTP and BOBD videos contain the "actual" color most of the time. A bit black/white here and there is okay, but it shouldn't be too much. 21 Guns has too much effects in it
captain peroxide Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Having a dick doesn't mean we can't cry Yes it does, goddamnit. Never surrender!

Tubbie Head Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Does AAF get very much advertised in your Countries? Here in Portugal I haven't seen A THING! Grrr
Marie_GD Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Absolutley nothing in Brazil. MTV Brasil's website posted about it, but that's only because I'm responsible for Green Day news there
Laura! Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I've heard it being talked about on the radio but other than that I've seen nothing about it.
stuart_and_the_ave Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Which reminds me, what day is it actually out in the UK? Is it the 22nd? I asked in HMV today and they said 21st March and it will be £9.99 When I asked him he said oh it's called 'awesome as something isn't it' and laughed a bit, then said he would be in trouble if he swore Does anyone know if it's going to be shown in UK cinemas?

I'm guessing it will, but nothing has been announced yet. I heard it's being shown in Ireland somewhere as well.

Great, thanks! I'm planning on getting it from HMV, you've saved me the job of asking about it in there but I think I might anyway to see if they say anything interesting now
