Of Rage and Love Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 They should have put the Holden Caufield from PNC last summer, with Davey Havok, it was awesome! But they put one from MSG in 09, if they were gonna put anything from MSG in 09, they should have put Disappearing Boy.
greendepent Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 The set is ok, but it could be better. I don't bother on it, though
TheBasketcase Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 FUCKING CIGS AND VALENTINES FROM PHOENIX BITCHES!
prosthetic01 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 THE ONE THING EVERYONE IS FORGETTING... I noticed some people are disappointed that certain songs did or did not not make the new DVD. I think people are forgetting an important aspect of this past tour/ DVD... They regularly played old songs, most of us only dreamed about seeing live. Night after night Green Day played 30 plus song sets and busted out various songs from their giant catalog of music. I for one was absolutely thrilled to watch videos on youtube of some of these old songs. The biggest knock on bands when they make it big, is they don't change up their setlist. I saw Green Day 3 nights in a row in 2005, and they played the same set list every night. To see them change up their setlist so much during the 2009/10 tour was absolutely thrilling. Everyone on this board should be ecstatic that Green Day is putting out another live cd/dvd, and with a setlist like this, unbelievable! Here's hoping to Green Day continuing to play different oldies each show!
Bastard of 1967 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Everyone on this board should be ecstatic that Green Day is putting out another live cd/dvd, and with a setlist like this, unbelievable! Here's hoping to Green Day continuing to play different oldies each show! Well said. As far as I'm concerned, we already have BIAB for their core setlist and almost all of their Dookie-to-AI hits. AAF adds their best live 21CB performances, Cigs & Vals, and a bucketful of back-catalog rarities. As far as I'm concerned, the rest is fucking gravy. About the only thing I can find to criticize (and even then I have to look hard to do that) is that the core acoustic encore set from this tour (When It's Time, WMUWSE, and Good Riddance) isn't on the DVD. It really was something special to remember, particularly when Billie said (and you saw it in his eyes, he MEANT it) things like "the only way you're getting me out of this band is in a fucking box" and "It is our honor and our fucking privilege to give you the best fucking show you've ever fucking seen." Especially at Wembley when he choked up during When It's Time. Ah, well....at least I've got some great HQ/HD bootlegs downloaded of a few of those that were shot from the pit. I can live with that.
porksoda Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I am only sad about 2 things: No 'Nice Guys Finish Last', and I wish the CD had a couple more tracks, but I really don't mind either of those things. I feel like this is kind of an 'in your face!' album, as in Green Day is proving they haven't forgot about their roots like everyone complains.
Nmd Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 so freaking happy, ecstatic, jumping for joy, smiling like an idiot that a track from Dallas, TX made it also excited to hear C&V, Christie Road, GTP, JAR, & WWHC
pasalaska Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I'm super happy about the CD tracklist. I really don't understand why people are complaining about the CD and DVD not having Basket Case and Minority. Both those songs are on BIAB, and there's also live versions of Basket Case on Bowling Bowling Bowling Parking Parking and the Last Night On Earth EP, and a live version of Minority on Tune In Tokyo. Basically, we could have had yet another live version of those songs, or have (as they have done in the CD) live versions of rarer songs. I much prefer the trade off for the rare songs. As for their absence from the DVD - people who saw the 21CB tour would know that while GD's live show has improved and gotten more spontaneous than during AI (and in BIAB), the performance of Minority and Basket Case remained pretty much the same. Excellent, but the same. Again, I prefer they leave them off the DVD and put in different songs, in this case American Eulogy and GSB/Welcome To Paradise/WICA/She.
AndrewW91 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I was only upset about Minority because of the confetti. It actually doesn't matter. It is on BIAB already, so it's fine. And I have World Stage to watch, with Basket Case.
Tomcat20 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I'm really looking forward to this. Hopefuly we'll get short previews soon.
Punk-tastic32 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Definitely a record label thing. I'm sure the band didn't have to strong of a choice in this matter. That makes sense, I guess I'm just taking my frustration out on them. Now I feel kinda bad. They did it with 21CB so it isn't new. And I'm sure you can buy the tracks separately and not have to buy the whole album. Why do you say 3 digital copies? iTunes has all the bonus tracks.... Amazon will have two of them. That's true, I forgot about how they did that. I hope they are individual, sometimes they are by 'Album only" so I had to download them. I meant 3 copies, somehow I had thought Amazon and iTunes had different ones, and I like having the physical album... thus my mini explosion there.
Ingrid Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 So looking forward to a pro-recording of Viva la Gloria! (see? I'm focusing on the positive now XD)
Radioactive1 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I should be on KYE in Manchester cos I was behind the girl who got pulled up for it eeeeeek! And tbh I think the tracks are great. There's sooo many great Green Day songs live, if they wouldn't have been choosy we would have ended up with 40 songs, which would be fantastic but would be way too long. Sure I would have liked to see things like waiting and minority but then we get viva la gloria and cigarettes and valentines. They can't please everyone, at least we're getting a DVD of some of it and we should all be thankful for that.
idc Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I should be on KYE in Manchester cos I was behind the girl who got pulled up for it eeeeeek! edit: aaaah was it the banana?

Mato Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 They should have put the Holden Caufield from PNC last summer, with Davey Havok, it was awesome! That's what I thought, it was amazing
SuperRebReb Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I'm so glad they're including Burnout on the DVD... I love that song so much!
Isabel Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Nah, that's just when he announced the live album. I think other people said that the Phoenix performance of that song seemed better - I'm sure that's why they played it multiple times, so they could choose the version they liked most. Well that would make more sense - completely forgot they played it at both shows. Excited for a good quality version. (finally!)
