Anja Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Awesomeness. They were all so cute. I thought Mike and Tré looked amazing! Billie did too but I was never a big fan of the hairstyle he had when this was filmed I just finished watching the rest and loved it. I wish it was longer though. "Time flies when you're having fun yeah".
Ila Reto Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 damn its only up to part 4 on youtube. watching only half of a music special is like green day equivalent of blue balls.
Angela. Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 That was awesome. It made me realize again just how much I love these guys and how proud I am of them. And thank you very much, Matt!
Margo 39 smooth Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 So awesome watching that. I really loved the beginning about the early days cause its been a while since i paid attention to that era and i really love it. My dad watched part of it with me and really liked the Woodstock bit and the part when Billie talks about his phone calls with Adrienne about her human sexuality class. lol i dunno why but he found that really funny
mandajane Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 in the beginning they say "from a basement club in Berkeley to...." gilman isnt in a basement....
luvgirlcl Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I loved it so much, specially the new footage. It reminded me why I'm so proud of being a fan, I love their honesty and commitment of being true to who they are, and that the music is their center and everything else comes around it. Gah, I'm *this* close to go into fangirl mode And Rob Cavallo! Nice to see him (can't help but wonder if with his job as chairman of WBR cuts down on the possibility of him producing the next album)
Clayish Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Dang, they only added about 20 minutes of new footage.
jensername Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Just watched it last night. I'm so happy they did a remastered version. Green Day really needed that. So much has happened since American Idiot, so it's nice to see the updated Behind the music. Anyway, it was an amazing episode of course. It kind of sucks that some people don't have VH1 Classic, but I'm sure it will be posted somewhere online soon. So I hope everyone gets to check it out. It's pretty freaking awesome.
LetItBeHappy Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 damn you megaupload for not working I guess I'll end up downloading from another computer, but I'll have too wait to do that ):
St. Vicky Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 It was amazing!!! It made me realize, how awesome they're and how much i love them
Jessayy Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I really enjoyed that Thanks to whoever recorded it
The Snark Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I was kinda disappointed that the past nine years only got a 20 minute treatment and there were some things that they could have mentioned (Adeline Records, Rock Band, the Tubbies...). BUT I think I was smiling during the entire show. It was a great reminder about how fucking proud I am of them and how much I love them. My parents also liked it. My dad was all "I didn't think they were that deep" and he loved what Billie said about not worrying about the people who have more than you, because others have it much worse. Now, that is a quote I'd like on a bumper sticker.
Schlappy Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 so no one at reprise wanted to work with Green Day on 21st century breakdown? did i hear that right? thats so weird... considering green day makes them so much money. maybe thats why it didnt get promoted well. very interesting
Marki. Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Loved it :') Made me realize how proud I am to be a fan again
AnnA™ Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Just finished watching it. Loved it! Cheered me up a bit, and made me extra proud of being a fan.
cityof_lust17 Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Gah so tempted to watch but its coming on again tonight and I think its always better to watch on tv. But ill download it now anyways for later.
farley drexel hatcher Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Yeah, it made me wonder what Billie meant by "we couldn't get anyone at the label to listen to our new music" ... and about losing Rob, too. Things didn't quite add up. But still, it was nice to see them, I just think it'd make more sense to do a whole new one of the last ten years than just stick twenty minutes of new footage onto the original.
Katarina. Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I wish they paid more attention to 21st Century Breakdown. It was like *shows album cover* "and the year after that, in 2009, Green Day released 21st Century Breakdown, which debuted at number one in 14 countries" *moves on to American Idiot musical* I know there's not too much to talk about, but they could've at least told more about the record, the release, the story, and the live tour, like them playing at Wembley! Oh well. I still really enjoyed watching it. I'm loving this band more and more, which I didn't think was possible. (Edit: and there are a lot of things they didn't mention either. Like more information about Mike and Tre, the Network, the Saints are coming cover, the Working Class Hero cover, and the Foxboro Hot Tubs of course.)
IscoredWaddlesgoals Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Has the original been badly edited to fit the extra stuff on the end ? I just don't understand why the first third or so is pretty much all about Billie Joe and why there's a bigger section on how he met his wife than the section about them meeting Tre. I don't really care about the phone conversations they had, especially at the expense of information/stories about Mike & Tre. I'm not complaining about the numerous gratuitous early shots of topless Mike though :eyebrow:
Tubbie Head Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Too bad they didn't mention the Tubbies.
TheSaltOfTheEarth Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I love things like these, they remind me of why I love this band so much. I wish they put a little more time into the actual 'remastered' part of it...it seemed very rushed, especially seeing how these past 10 or so years were the biggest in Green Day's career. I think they spent too much time on the early, early stuff as well as Billie's personal life. That being said, it was pretty good, considering how much content they had to fit into only about 45 minutes. I also love how it actually told some stuff that we DIDN'T know already. Mike, Tre and especially Billie looked AMAZING. I don't think they've ever looked better. I fucking LOVE Billie's hair adlfjjdalhdskfl /random fangirl moment
lawrahday Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 it was really good but i think the original was edited too cause there was some different stuff in and mike and tre's childhood was totally cut out. i got the vibe theres tension between rob and the band :/ they all looked great and had freakishly deep sounding voices and lol at the brandon flowers comment
Vespertine Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Wow I didn't watch this. Gonna watch it now. Ugh, it's taking forever to buffer. Are there any download links? EDIT: Never mind, just found one.
Ellenkc Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I guess neither Rob or any other producer on the label felt they were up to recording the follow-up to AI? On one hand it's a bit weird that this hasn't really been mentioned before, but then again I wouldn't have expected the band to talk about that kind of issue publicly, I don't think they ever really speak about issues with the label.
Clockwise Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 "But Brandon Flowers did care." Funniest line ever. Watched it, thought it was awesome, wish they covered Foxboro at least. I think what Billie meant about losing Rob was that he stopped working for Warner for a period of time, and now he's the boss, so he's back. I say they work with him again, he's produced like the majority of my favorite albums.
