Jacob. Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Well I love him since Svengali and actually didn't care that much about him before haha From what I've seen from HLAHG, he seems like a pretty good director/producer. I haven't seen much from him, but he seems like he's at least decent. I think he was just trying to keep people's interest in it up. Same with saying "it's definitely coming out next year!" and stuff like that. He's trying to get it released and if fans stay interested and support him it helps. I'd prefer less of the fibbing about it definitely coming out, but posting pictures etc and talking about it is a nice way of keeping fans excited about it and wanting to see it. It was exciting seeing it and knowing that the footage at least existed. I suppose those updates had their uses, as it kept me interested at least a little bit. It's just too bad it won't be coming out for at least 4 to 5 years.
a peculiar name Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 According to John, yeah. But if Green Day want it out so much why have I never heard them say one word about this film? I haven't heard them even mention John Roecker for years. If they wanted it out and were being prevented from having it out they would've at the very least dropped a hint about it or mentioned it at some point. If they wanted to they could get it released. I like John and I hope he gets his film out. But it's clear not everything he's said about it is true. All I'm saying is don't get your hopes up over anything until the band confirms it - because if something's happening with it, they will. Well what should they talk about him? They got a busy appointment callendar. I don't know how to explain it but why should Green Day not care? They sat a half year in the studio w John and then be like "Oh yeah, I don't care if this gos public or was just for nuthing" The fans are the reason why the movie is coming, the reason why warner will get money and they will release it From what I've seen from HLAHG, he seems like a pretty good director/producer. You obviously don't know John. He doesn't think like that at all.
Jacob. Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 You obviously don't know John. He doesn't think like that at all. Can't say I know much about him. Then again, he is tied to the band in only a couple ways.
*withoutadoubt* Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I'm sorry, but when was this shown, how did you get to see it? How many people have been able to watch it? Thanks cause i know nothing about it, i'm stupid, so, y'know It was only shown once, and yes, March of 2009 at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. There was an Idiot Club contest for tickets, and that's how some of us were there.

I mean there is Live Freaky, the whole network thing, he made Billie do the song with the Go-Go's , he invented Lushotology (with Brain Stew) and is a good personal friend of the band.
Bundita Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 i wish i could've seen this documentary NOTE: I DID NOT SEE THIS DOCUMENTARY BUT HERE'S SOME STUFF THAT PEOPLE WHO SAW IT TOLD ME ABOUT:   1) Mike shows his sweet, fatherly side when he brings in a key chain his daughter made that says, "I love you, Daddy" and shows it to the group, saying, "The plus side of being a dad - trinkets." He then mentions the fact that kids often bring home art that "sucks," but then you realize that "They’re only fucking four years old." 2)During the recording of whatshername and wake me up when september ends, billie cried while recording it 3) there was footage in the band members houses and in billies personal recording studio, a lot of them being silly and serious 4) mike went swimming and there was slight nudity 5) The movie is broken up into sections, with each one devoting attention to specific parts of the album. Each section follows the band’s creative and production process for a song, often including insight into the writing, the recording of the material, the first rehearsal, and finally, the first performance in front of a crowd at the Henry Fonda Theater on September 16 2004. Each song on the album is played all the way through within its section, with the exception of Holiday. In addition, each section contains several scenes of the band interacting in the studio and talking about everything from plastic surgery to how to drink responsibly. 6)There are clips of Billie Joe practicing and then recording background guitar for a song. This piece is a smaller sound in the final cut that most people wouldn’t even realize is there, but it adds to the depth of the song’s sound 7)Tre is delightful when he dresses in white sheets and imitates an Arab as the character Captain Hey. He says, "I am responsible for putting the ‘Heys’ in all the songs. You know the song 'Hey Ya' by OutKast? ... That was me. Some people think they can do their own ‘Heys’ but the quality is not the same as using a "Hey" expert. 8) The movie ends with the band playing an improvisational tune with Armstrong on drums, Dirnt on bass and Tre singing about drinking
Izzard Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Trust me John has said numerous times that he wants to release it! He really means it and he is not trying to string anyone along. This movie was so important to him and he's tried for years just to get it out there...it really has nothing to do with John and everything to do with Warner at this point...they basically own Green Day soo.,,
Tripe Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Okay, Hollywood premiere in 2009, thanks for nothing guys Sorry! I wasn't on for a couple of days. But I see Cheryl answered your question. Billie Joe Addict, thanks for recapping all the stuff you read about the documentary - I'd forgotten a lot of that! There is also a kind of funny part where BJA farts in the studio - the small area around the soundboard - and it must have been a stinker because much fun is made of that.
