Ugh.

Seriously, Glenn is the epitome of the dangers of "one nation controlled by the media."

Upboat for antoine dodson.

And I think you're all getting too upset over this. I doubt Glenn Beck himself actually picked the song and even if he did he probably did it to piss people off. He's absolutely bat-shit fucking insane, not completely oblivious to his choices.

gotta love the irony of this though.

I wouldn't mind the guys yelling at him like Muse did (I mean, Glenn directly discussed Muse so it was a little more involved, but still)

It's almost comical that he would use a GD song to try to promote himself..... "Bat-shit fucking insane..." I'll have to use that myself...

Who fucking cares?!

And no, he's not an idiot.

Ugh.

I wonder if Beck realizes that HE'S the kind of person that American Idiot is directed at?

If it weren't for his thousands (millions?!) of followers I would actually think that he's kind of hilarious. But the influence he has on people is actually really scary.

Why? He isn't telling them to kill Obama or another people. So, what do you think he's influence is going to do?

Oh, man. When John sees Doris' post above, well ... Shit. Is. Gonna. Go. Down.

To be perfectly honest I have no exact political stance, as I believe politics overall are complete and utter bullshit, no matter which wing you're dealing with. And for the record, I for once am actually not looking forward to the 'discussion' that's sure to follow after Doris' post, and y'know why ...?

Because both sides sound equally pompous and ridiculous when exchanging 'opinions' about their political stance. I realise that politics are ~~~~~~*important~~*~, but the arguments that follow about douchecanoes like Glenn Beck are nothing but a big ol' eyeball rolling fest.

Why is this? Well, because what both sides don't seem to realise is that Glenn Beck, and others like him, are so painfully, obviously manufactured to be ~**~~edgy~~**~ and ~~*out there~~**~ and ~~*~~controversial~~**~~~ that they're not even woth discussing.

I'm not saying the dude isn't naturally a total asshole --- He is --- And I'm not saying he isn't insane --- 'Cause he most obviously is --- But the fact of the matter is that he's nothing but another fucking animated character on the cartoon show that is The Mass Media. He's a puppet, a marionette, a face to a fear or an ideal, an actor of sorts ... And of course most people don't realise that, because I'd bet anyone that he doesn't realise it, either.

Seriously. He's not even worth thinking about for any longer than a millisecond --- Save for this post of mine calling his fauxness out. I don't understand why or how anyone in their right mind would think he's even notable one way or another. Because he's not.

I have no idea who this guy is, but judging by the previous posts... I cant wait to see Billie's reaction.

LOL the irony of this man using American Idiot! He looks stupid for using a song that describes himself, and looks doubly stupid for clearly not having any clue what the song is about. All he's done by using it is demonstrate the fact that he's an idiot so I'm not upset, I'm amused

Guys, he's prolly not a Green Day fan, and obviously wouldn't use it to describe himself. I doubt he is interpreting it with it's real intended meaning. He's prolly just using it because it is popular, catchy, and says "American idiot" a lot.

If he's misunderstanding the meaning and insulting himself, than that's his problem, and all us Green Day fans can sit back and laugh at him.

I don't even know who Glenn Back is, but I've read the other posts... he's not really loved around there, is he?

Well, I can't comment on this. Honestly I don't him (or his show?), so I can't really judge him for anything.

Well, I would have to say I disagree. He IS notable, because of his influnce. He has a quite large amount of followers who accept anything he says as truth, and that's scary. Sure, he's most likely manufactured, but because he is the one saying and doing these things, he's the one that's gonna get debated, not his manufacturers.

Oh, and I love how you made a point of saying all of these posts are pointless, except yours.

OMG... I possibly heard the most offensive thing on the radio this morning. The local AM radio station I listen to traffic reports on was playing a promo for Glenn Beck's talk show. He was saying something about American idiots as a category of people and was playing Green Day's American Idiot in the background!!!!!!!! He is quite possibly the reigning King of Idiots.... and how dare he use GD music in his promos! I was truly sick to my stomach. I really, really, really wonder if GD knows this is going on? This is a reprehensible act!!!!!!!!!!! How can we let GD know about this?

Just checking, was it definitely his show using the song, rather than the radio startion using it in the promo?

If so, this is totally disturbing and needs to be exposed in a segment on The Daily Show!

tbh I'm not looking forward to the discussion either. So, maybe I shouldn't have said anything, but when people talk shit about something I believe in then I'm going to say something. And no he isn't stupid. So maybe using AI wasn't the best choice, but he probably had no say in what song to use.

I love how I now have a -1 reputation.

oh my god this guy is a MORMON

The irony of this story is amazing, now I'm just waiting to hear The Static Age on commercials. The guy is a class A nutjob. He would be like one of those annoying but lovable insane hobos that predict the apocalypse if people didn't actually swallow the crap he comes up with.

Just checking, was it definitely his show using the song, rather than the radio startion using it in the promo?

That is honestly one of the only American talk shows I can watch without pulling the plug on my tv. I fucking love Jon Stewart, he is full of win.

While I don't agree with your opinion of him, I do agree with that line. The song obviously wasn't his choice.

Are you the first one?

I don't know much about Glenn Beck(but I can tell he's not the brightest tool in the box...) but who ever manages his PR just epically failed.=/

I hope Green Day find out and make a statement about this, I't be pretty damn hypocritical if they didn't do anything about it.

To each their own I guess.

We should mark it on those GDC calenders

So I have absolutely no idea who this Glenn Beck guy is :whistle

But if you guys say he's a douche bag then I trust your judgement, how dare he use American Idiot
