Robin105 Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 On sunday me and my friend are going to wait by the theater to see if Billie comes out afterwards. I would like to see this Q&A but do you have to see the musical first?
lawrahday Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 What exactly did he say about the musical back then? What interview was it? its called Fook WKQX and its from 2004 should be in the radio downloads section. He just says ' theres no broadway thing thats gonna happen. Over my dead body' and thats it so not a lot but he was against it.
farley drexel hatcher Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 He never actually said that ... he said something like, he wouldn't want it to become all "St Jimmy on ice" or something.
lawrahday Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 He never actually said that ... he said something like, he wouldn't want it to become all "St Jimmy on ice" or something. he did i just listened to it now. maybe you're thinking of something different
farley drexel hatcher Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 he did i just listened to it now. maybe you're thinking of something different haha maybe I am. I just remember him saying something about he wouldn't want it to become a parody by going to Broadway and eventually ending up as St Jimmy on ice ... something like that. I think he was just really protective of it and I don't think this would have happened had he been approached by anyone other than Micheal Mayer, personally.
Hermione Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Also, that question about Fuck Time could be considered slightly musical-related. After all, it was written after BJ saw how the cast preps for the curtain opening each night - hands in the middle and yelling "It's fuck time!" I like this logic! Anyone who asked about this would be my hero Have a wonderful time everyone who's going. And remember everything! haha maybe I am. I just remember him saying something about he wouldn't want it to become a parody by going to Broadway and eventually ending up as St Jimmy on ice ... something like that. I think he was just really protective of it and I don't think this would have happened had he been approached by anyone other than Micheal Mayer, personally. I agree. I think he had his heart set on a movie and wasn't even considering alternatives at that point so of course he'd laugh at the suggestion of a Broadway show. Obviously the movie didn't happen for whatever reason and a different offer unexpectedly came along that he really liked and the rest is history. But the over my dead body quote is still funny
sundaymorning6am Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 was anyone taking pictures after the talk-back on wednesday night? i was wondering if anyone got a shot of him signing my guitar. okay, that's it, i'm getting obnoxious now, but i'm really just curious. i didn't have enough hands to also be holding a camera
plaid ducky Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 A poster on Tumblr has the audio from Wednesday's talkback: Link ETA: Video from the 15th; not the full talkback, BTW: Pt. 1: Pt. 2: The clapping might be a little loud at some points, just a FYI.

I would like to see this Q&A but do you have to see the musical first? Yes. I'm going tomorrow, Friday September 17th. Is anyone else going? I'd really like to meet more GDC'rs! Yes.

OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU Yes. Um, try no. You don't have the see the musical to get into the Q&A --- This was already established by other GDCers earlier.
Moffie Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Guys, at least go see the show before you try to sneak into the talkback.
Lauren Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 lol, alex. see ya there! Um, try no. You don't have the see the musical to get into the Q&A --- This was already established by other GDCers earlier. wait really? but you still gotta buy a ticket and everything though, right? 'cause if I'm paying for it, I'm seeing the musical.
Moffie Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Um, try no. You don't have the see the musical to get into the Q&A --- This was already established by other GDCers earlier. Um, try "Hell to the yeah." That's the whole point of the talkback; buy a ticket to the musical (the $27 tickets.) You can't just sneak in.

You can't just sneak in. yeah i think the people who said they just went for the talk back still bought tickets, just didnt see the musical. but unless you really cant make it in time, you might as well see the musical since you paid for it.

I find that odd but I guess that's understandable. You might as well get your money's worth. Especially since they're practically giving away tickets!
mallorymaloney Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Lauren pretty much covered exactly what I was going to say. You didn't have to jump all over me, Moffie, geez.
Moffie Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Lauren pretty much covered exactly what I was going to say. You didn't have to jump all over me, Moffie, geez. I wasn't. Just correcting you because you sounded like people can just walk in. The person you were answering wanted to just go in and didn't mention if they were buying a ticket or not. No need to exaggerate.
FiaKels Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Don't know, I guess so This is what he said On Wednesday "At last nights Q&A, a fan asked Billie Joe if he'd ever consider doing 'album dedicated' concerts. Billie said he thought it would be cool to play 'Kerplunk' front to back. He also said that he was a "cheap date" and that he would play pretty much anything anywhere!" I remember that. It was only when I got home that night when I realized what a mindfuck it really was. To anyone who's going tomorrow and sunday: if you wait, you have a fair chance at meeting Billie if you stick around, but PLEASE remember to give the guy some space. *also going tomorrow night*

It's called "second acting it" here in NYC. Many people in NY actually go into theaters and see the second acts of plays by just walking in. I've never done it, but I know people who have. Consider the time after the show an intermission and walk in. It can be done. I did it on Tuesday. But then again, I bought tickets for the other two nights and Sunday, so I don't feel guilty about it at all, personally. Especially since I've paid to see the show 10 times now...

It's like taking advantage of getting a free scoop of ice cream if you said you already bought a product but you really didn't in a deal where if you actually did, you get free ice cream. That's not right or fair to those who bought that product. See? This person who was saying they just wanted to see Billie didn't say they bought any ticket at all.
jme babs Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 i cant believe out of all the days, seems like everyone is going Sunday...i wonder why??? im going Sunday as well haha.
Joy of suburbia. Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 i cant believe out of all the days, seems like everyone is going Sunday...i wonder why??? im going Sunday as well haha. It's probably because that 92nd Street Y thing is on Sunday as well. I guess it seems like the right thing to do, y'know? And I'm going on Sunday as well.

You may love the guys a lot, but I consider this a way of stealing.

Oy, I never really thought Green Day fans would be so moralistic about this stuff. To each his own.
lexnyc Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 does anyone know what the best way to meet biilly or geta pic or autograph from him after the talk back??
