Rock'n'RollGirlfriend Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 This made me so sad that they're not coming back to Florida this leg of the tour. =[ The Tampa show last year was the most amazing night of my life. <3 I'm going through withdrawls all over again now...
askier4ever Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 awesome review. reading this it helped me remember some of the things that went on that night since i have a shit memory. it was great to say hi to you and Alex (you probably don't remember me...i was in the other line where J'Net originally was and I didn't say much.) i loved this show so much, and i'm gonna keep this review cause you did such an awesome job on it oh, and i completley agree with all those people getting on stage while green day is playing. especially while they were playing old songs. i couldnt pay attention to paper lanterns because i was getting trampled by people who were trying to get on stage.
antiradio Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 nice review. toronto was good too and sounded similar (obviously you guys lucked out with a few unreleased tracks) but can everyone do me one favour. please stop using the word "epic" lol
Green Day Cellist Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 wow, reading that review made me relive that night again, thank you very much It was so nice meeting you and everyone else, I'm so glad that I got the chance to meet you guys. I really hope we can see eachother again at another concert some day!
Wolf Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Great review, I agree with every word, it was one of the best shows I've ever been to, amazing beyond words. I think the only thing that would have improved it would have been if I hadn't gone alone. I'll have to link up with some GDA peeps next time.
clairemarie Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 That's a uber fantastic review Matt. Seriously, I got emotional just reading it. Now I'm even more stoked for Saturday's show at shoreline. Thanks for taking the time to write it and let everyone read it. It's very much appreciated.
Fuzz Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Great review, I agree with every word, it was one of the best shows I've ever been to, amazing beyond words. I think the only thing that would have improved it would have been if I hadn't gone alone. I'll have to link up with some GDA peeps next time. Hell yeah! Shows are so much more fun when you get to experience them with people just a crazy about Green Day.
Pedestrian9394 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I love this review! Kudos to you for remembering so much of it. After the show in Georgia, I was so tired that I had forgotten some of the details. Thanks for putting this show into words. I really wish I could've gone.
AnotherGreenDayMom Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Hey Matt! Great review! You nailed it. Did you notice that at the beginning of Wake Me up When September Ends Billie said "28 years" instead of "7 years"? Made me cry. I almost walked over and said hi to you at the show Saturday. My husband and I were one row behind you and five or six seats to your right. I saw you guys with your GDA shirts and almost said hello a couple of times, but my husband doesn't know just how deep the Green Day crazy goes, and I figured he'd be all shy and embarrassed if I started talking to a couple of strangers like I knew them. So glad you enjoyed the show, and I hope you liked Colorado. I think it's awesome that a bunch of GDCers got together, and I can't begin to tell you how jealous I am of the Aussies who've been following the band all summer. Darn kids and mortgage are cramping my style. I loved that Billie said the band was relocating to CO, but I saw yesterday that he said the same thing when they were in Michigan a few days ago. I know, though, that he didn't say that about New Jersey. A friend who was at the NJ show also came here for our show, and she said Billie said nothing about NJ being better than California.
foxboro1234 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Wow this article gave me the chills. It was also the best night of my life.

St. Jocelyn Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Awesome review Matt. Im insanely jealous that you got to hear Cigarettes and Valentines! Sounds like an awesome time I totally know the feeling you got during Wake Me Up When September Ends!
Desensitized09 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I absolutely loved your review I wish I could have gone to that show! It sounds like the most epic one on the tour yet! Thank you so much for sharing this with those of us who weren't able to go. As I read it, I felt as though I was there myself. It's awesome that you had such a mind-blowing experience. I only hope that the next GD show I go to, I'll have the same experience
zombiesdance Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I was at this show too, and I felt exactly the same way. It was incredible. When Billie said they were gonna play Cigarettes and Valentines, my friend and I looked at each other in shock too. And we absolutely freaked out when they played One Of My Lies and Who Wrote Holden Caulfield. I saw them in Denver last summer too, but this time was even more amazing. I can't wait to hear the live album and I can't wait until they go on tour again when he said that, thats when i really started to lose it and couldnt hold it in. when he said that, thats when i really started to lose it and couldnt hold it in. that made me cry too!
Izzard Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Great review, although you made it sound like their were a lot of tweens their that didn't know songs ie: paper lanterns, 2000 light years away, and JOS . . . those first two seem to be very popular old Green Day songs and I always thought of JOS as a very well liked/ well known song...I guess it just sucks knowing there were people there that didn't know the words... and even though I haven't liked Green Day their entire career when they ask if there are any old school Green Day fans I still scream YES becasue I am indeed a fan of old school Green Day music I hope thats allll good.
JadedHaushinka Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 That was a very good review. I teared up a little at some parts. Very nicely written! Thanks for your time for writing this. It really seems that the concert was epic.
Maura99 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Aw, great review! I'm really happy for you that you had such an awesome time.
PasalacquaBomb Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Awesome review, Matt! I'm glad you, Alex and all the other people had a great time! And it's also nice that you take the time to write us such a great and long review after the show. Thank you!
Billie Kristy Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Super well-written review dude! I I loved it, great job (:
vessy Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Amazing review, thanks for sharing it with us! And its the same with me and wmuwse, so reading this brought back memories of my concert which is allways nice.
idc Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Billie ended the show by finishing “Wake Me Up...” At that moment, I stood there with my hands on my head in total shock at what I had just witnessed for the last three hours. I can’t begin to describe my feelings at that moment. I was the happiest person on Earth. I look back on everything now while typing this on Monday afternoon and I can honestly say that it was the greatest day of my life. Not just because of the show, or because of Cigs and Vals, but because of all the fabulous people I got to meet throughout the day. you're talking out of my mind man, this cannot be more true. right now, i don't know whether i should be extremely happy, that i got the chance to have this moment mutiple times, or i should start crying because i don't know when it'll happen again, and when i'll get to see most of these people again. i think i am just happy, that i'll get to see at least some of you in october. but all of you would make it so much better. another moment which describes why i love this community so much. PLUS, I am so sorry Andres wasn't able to attend your meetup and this show it's just not fair.
21 guns Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Great review sounds like you had a blast. The only thing I would say is, and it's not just you that does this, it is a bit unfair to generalise that 'tweens' don't know the older material. Infact i would say that at wembley, the most enthusiastic people in the audience were aged 15-20 and there were a ton of older people around me who didn't know half the songs. I think age is irrelevant. I am 16 and have only been a fan since 2008, but I would easily have been able to sing along to all those songs such as paper lanterns and 2000 light years away. True, I know several preppy, pretencious douchebags (who are guys by the way, not billie tards) at my school who hav been to green day concerts and said that it was "siiikkk man, especially when thy played the older stuff, yeah like American idiot, duude!", but this is the minority. Most of those who go to green day concerts are genuine fans. So please consider this next time you see a couple of teens at a green day concert and think they're 'bandwagon fans' who in my opinion, don't even exist.
maria11 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Great review Matt! Glad you had an awesome time! The only thing that bothered me was that you kept mentioning that the "tweens" didn't know any of the old songs and shouldn't have gone onstage. I am 14 years old and have only been the MASSIVE Green Day fan that I am for about 3 years. But the albums that actually reeeally got me into the band are 1039 and Kerplunk! I own every song Green Day's recorded. So there are "teens" and "new fans" that know the old stuff. All fans are equal.
mcbelles24 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 This review made me feel like i was front row at the show! thanks for posting! have confiendence in your writing its perfectly fine!
