Haha. Yeah I think it must be about her or he wouldn't have used the name. When I first listened I just thought it was a standard love song, but looking at the lyrics it would fit - although obviously it isn't written from Billie's own perspective . It wouldn't be the first time, he's said Why Do You Want Him and In The End are about his mum and neither of those are from a son's perspective either. I suppose it's like writing about her as a character.

I like the idea that it's about his mum. It's really a sweet tribute to her

i can't wait till this comes out and it'll probablly (most likely) be sometime after the south america tours and that's when i'm thinking if were gonna know fo sho when or if there's gonna be a live dvd or not. i just can't wait and about olivia being about his mom i think that's a really sweet song for his momma unlike billie joes mom by tre lol. but if it isn't about his mom then i still think it's a very sweet song

Ok...finally got a chance to work on both tracks last night. I tacked the full solo guitar intro for "Olivia" onto Felipe's already-excellent mix. I also equalized the living crap out of C&V and added some compression to it smooth out the peaks'n'valleys in the track's volume levels...brightens it up a bit and it sounds OK on the iPod now. Both are available for download in a single zip file here:

Edit: Let me know what y'all think. I listened to both of the tracks on my iPod on the way in to work today. Olivia sounds OK but I'm still not really happy with how C&V came out -- the compression filter and some of the EQ may be making it sound muddy through earbuds. If there's enough demand I'll rework it this evening and post an update.

EDIT: The link is now working! And I dig the theory of Olivia being for Billie's mom. I read once that Billie bought her a new car and all after Dookie... maybe he wrote this song under that perspective: Being a son that's taking care of his mother
