Sarabeth Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 For me it's like the GDC podcast said... 'They hate my obsession..' I get mocked. But it's gotten to the point that I don't care. I had to go to the internet to find people who appreciate Green Day on the same leverl that I do. This is how I am. My friends hate Green Day. They usualy let me know that they dont care when I talk about Green Day. Only my Best Friend listens when I talk about Green Day. She thinks its cute how obsessed I am, but she said that somethimes she worries about me. And she said with sarcasm : "Youre not obsessed, youre just a highly dedicated fan" lol I got my sisters into Green Day though. In the beginning they were just as big Green Day fans as I was, But one moved on to Justin Bieber , and one moved on to My Chemical Romance. My mom was into Green Day while we were waiting for the concert to come up, but now she doesnt really care
Burnout98 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Unortunately, i am the only Green Day freak amongst my friends...they dont like them too much.
beejeezee Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Amongst my friends I still talk to yes. Both my friends (from what I know) are obsessed with some Chris Tomlin dude, at least one of them is. I like being the Green Day freak though, amongst my family, friends, and random people on PCG. Sadly my colse friend dissaproves, she only likes christian singers and thinks Billie is wasting his talent. My parents like GD but want me to stop acting so obseesed. Not happening. I know one of my friends likes GD, or at least BeeJ when you try to kiss a pic of him on the computer you have to like him right? I have GDC for other people as obsessed with Green Day as I am
solongfromthestars Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I know one or two people who like a few of the singles, but they think I'm a freak. The people who don't like them are even worse. My best friend pretends to understand it but it's obvious she's thinking "you freak"
lawrahday Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 My friends either hate them or only like a couple of songs so yeah I dont have any green day loving friends which sucks! They let me talk about them though so I love them for that
ChristiansInferno92 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 This made me laugh, it's true my friends think im obsessed (which i am) luckily im not the only one in the group..
xbox360ROCKS Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Am I Green Day fan? Yes. Is my Friends are? Barely. From my place, like in School for example, Im the only one that likes Green Day. 95% of my friends listens to Rap, Hip hop, or any words with the D word (not dang, but the disgusting word, d**k), or only listens to songs about a Girl. Almost all my friends thinks Green Day sucks, since they think American Idiot or 21st Century Breakdown, or even Dookie, was offending to them. Almost all my friends, not all (50/50), got offended so much on American Idiot that it was ridiculous. I mean, cmon! I though Girls like Green Day! Yet, they like listening to Rap, or whatever, with the D word, or any cuss word with the F BOMB. Oh, and lots of Girls loves this Justin Bieber person. Heck, they even got Bracelets, Armbands, Shirts, Pants. I mean, it's ridiculous IMO. All I said is this, "WOW! Saying the person that listens to the D word in these Rap songs, or singing about Girls, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, or listening to a Talentless singer that will fade away in a few years (Justin Bieber), hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm." So yeah, Im pretty much the only Green Day fan at School, even though I bet there is a few, just can't find them though. I kinda felt good that Im the only guy (yes, Im a guy) in school that likes Green Day. It just feels................GREAT.
Webb_2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 I am definitely the Green Day freak among my friends. A few of them like a few songs because I'm always listening or talking about them. I took a friend to the Chicago show on 7/13/09 and he is now a pretty big fan. Recently I've been known as the Green Day freak of my entire school. That's one title I don't mind having lol Time(s) of my life: 7/13/09. Chicago, Ill American Idiot Musical- 7/13/10
Shnitzel Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Sort of. It's just me and Gloria123 who like green day in my grade and were not really friends with anybody else in our grade because we hate most of them.... So we are the green day freaks (or just freaks) among the kids in our grade.
Boston Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 My best friend Evan's friend Julie is an enormous Green Day freak, but I only see her for Green Day events (concerts and the musical). None of my friends other than Evan even listen to Green Day, much less obsess over them like I do.
Spider Tre Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 nah, most of my friends like Green Day but not nearly as much as i do then i have a couple where Green Day is one of their favorite bands but they don't talk about them much
Kayfabe Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 At my school during lunch, the Green Day fans pretty much have their own table We talk alot about tacos, Staic Noise, random band quotes, tacos, and the concert most of us went to a few months ago. wow I envy
Burnout98 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 I know one or two people who like a few of the singles, but they think I'm a freak. The people who don't like them are even worse. My best friend pretends to understand it but it's obvious she's thinking "you freak" Same with me, he just goes with the flow, but you know hes thinking something completely different inside!
Catsername Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Pretty much yeah, my sister loves them too though so we're a pair of freaks . Ha that's how my sister and I are. None of my friends are Green Day freaks lol...This is part of a conversation I had with a friend over the phone... Me: Yeah I actually don't have time to chat right now, I'm going to a Green Day concert. Friend: Oh what? Me: A Green Day concert. Friend: What's that? Me: You know, the band, Green Day. Friend: *pauses* Ohhh Wake Me Up..? Me: Yeah! hahaha *feels awkward* Friend: Oh okay, see you at school! Me: Okay. Talking online like on GDC, it's like a different level of understanding. We can talk about AAF, what's going to be on it, concerts, side bands, AI on Broadway, etc...and we understand each other. But with my friends when I'm talking all excitedly about going to some Green Day related event, they're happy for me, but it's like a "Oh that sounds cool! So anyways.... I wanted to show you something...(and change the subject)" type of response. It doesn't get any deeper than that lol I guess that's why I joined GDC.
Little Girl Little One Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Yeah, pretty much, but most of my friends are cool with it/think it's cute. I have a few friends who like them well enough or think they're awesome and will come to concerts with me, but don't really follow every single thing they do like me, haha. My mom really likes them too (she and I are going to the Musical in just over a week!), although it's rather hilarious watching her trying to sing along with her horrible sense of rhythm. OH. Yesterday at school, I left my iPod in the locker room after gym. Later, my friend comes up to me with it (thank god, I'd cry if I lost it) and tells me that she knew it was mine because of the 200+ Green Day songs on it.
taybay Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 All my friends like Green Day (either they do on their own or I convinced them hehe) but me and my best friend have been obsessed with them since we were 11. It's a very special bond Talking online like on GDC, it's like a different level of understanding. Stuff we can't normally talk about with our friends who aren't as Green Day obsessed as we are we can talk about on here and it feels good to get it out haha. It's like a special connection!
solongfromthestars Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Same with me, he just goes with the flow, but you know hes thinking something completely different inside! Haha I hate that I wish she'd just tell me she's thinking wtf instead of pretending she gets it because it's so obvious she doesn't, lol. Talking online like on GDC, it's like a different level of understanding. We can talk about AAF, what's going to be on it, concerts, side bands, AI on Broadway, etc...and we understand each other. I can be going on really emotionally about how much it means to me that I get to see St Billie this time and my best friend will be like "oh. What are you having for dinner?" It's like when I got to the US to see Green Day I was going on about how much it meant to me to see them again and how amazing they were. But she just said "oh" and asked me if I got a tan and if the sea was warm. I was like "dude, I went to Phoenix and San Francisco. I didn't jump into the bay and I hardly got a tan."
Bubbles. Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I used to be, but that's because those assholes weren't even real friends. I am friends with people who don't like Green Day (or just don't listen to them), and I don't care when people try to criticize them because it's just their opinion and it won't change the fact that I love them, but when people try to criticize me for listening to them, that's what pisses me off. Most of my friends like/love Green Day... That's including people I know in person and over the internet.
ANJI Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I am the only Green Day freak among my friends. They dont really like this type of music...usually RnB I find it hard to even say more than a few sentences to them about GD. I'm glad there is GDC! Luckily some of my family like Green Day and i've taken them to their concerts
minority_defeats_majority Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Actually no, I only have 1 friend who has even heard of Green Day. Although he was the one who told me about this site.
Burnout98 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Actually no, I only have 1 friend who has even heard of Green Day. Although he was the one who told me about this site. Aw, Patrick, no need to thank me.
madddie Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 My friends take the piss out of me all the time, and it was even worse at school
Zero. Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 I was the only Green Day freak, then I got my best friend hooked... but she will never be a Green Day freak like me.
ScatteredPictures Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 None of my friends is a Green Day fan. But I had to present my favourite song at school and I picked Minority. They all said they liked it
