And they don't play instruments as well, they just act as if they do while a pre-recorded (by other people, obviously) tape plays everything including the 'spontaneous' or 'requested' songs! We're completely onto them!

They are soooo busted.

well i donno with their fancy technology and stuff maybe he just lip syncs and then say hey-oohs and stuff

*facepalm*

no wonder they can play for 3 hours everyone other day or so and still have near perfect vocals without losing their voice like how anti-flag did.

Please tell me you're joking.

Oh god, imagine the horror!

I doubt they'd use it even a little bit given their attitude to such things from comments they've made in the past, and that you're no longer stuck to having to record in a single vocal take without having the ability to choose the best takes.

Oh well, I wouldn't be on here either, so I wouldn't mind. :D

Mmm, it really wouldn't surprise me if they very occasionally used it. For the falsetto in 21 Guns, or something. Maybe just to make it sound more perfect and polished, because Billie is definitely capable of doing it. I'm not saying they definitely used it, but I could see it happening. But what you said is also right. I guess we'll never know.

There was once an article about their music, and there was a small interview with... I forgot exactly who but it was some guy closely related to the recording process, and he said that 'nearly all Billie's vocals are basically live tracks'. Which you can take two ways. "nearly", so not everything, or that he said it to show they don't use stuff to edit the vocals.

sorry, I'm awfully repeating myself now.

Exactly, if they sucked, there wouldn't be a GDC :o

And no GDA :o

I'd feel something was missing.

They don't. We've all heard Billie mess that falsetto up a few times. So we know for sure already.

I see what you mean, but still doubt it.

When I think of someone being described as using autotune, I imagine Kanye West trying to sing

Hmm, that doesn't seem to be working.

Yeah, autotune is used so blatantly in hip-hop and stuff.

But it can actually be used subtly to fix non-perfect vocals.

lol this thread. what is it.

if green day sucked, we'd all be stuck in denial. just like bieber's fans.

They don't what? Don't use it?

edit: I indeed meant on the album.

Pretty sure Sanne meant the falsetto in the studio recording of 21 Guns, not live.

At least Green Day have gone through puberty

Well I don't know if whoever said that meant live or album, but I remember reading something (I think on here, so it was really just someone's thoughts/opinion but still) about how on the album, the falsetto is probably just layered a bunch of times. Billie can sing that note, but not very strongly. So they layer it (or whatever, idk the technical terms) to make it sounds stronger.

pssh. except billie joe still looks like a thirteen year old. with wrinkles.

Dude, there's a difference between layering a studio track and autotuning the fuck out of something.

i think this topic is a bit hypothetical, i don't really get it. are we assuming that green day starts doing bad shit like lip synching and auto tuning and using *gasp* synthesizers? that would kind of suck, but i feel like i would still like them because i have and unconditional love for green day.

Although you wouldn't say so when looking at the height of certain members :whistle

how could you not detect that? i mean, i thought it was fucking obvious

Umm well obviously they use technology to make all studio recordings better. That's why live performances rarely sound as good as the studio version. Just because they use that technology doesn't mean Billie's a bad singer or he lip syncs live. He can sing very well live, but for the album version they just want a bit more polish.
