Radioactive1 Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 ^ ^ haha I was at the front of that. The more times you go in the pit though, the easier I find it to stand and keep my balance. Ahh I love it, its all part of the experience At LCCC, where I was though it was horrible. Soo many people got pulled out at that point and then a lot of people started falling over and Billie still kept shouting "jump, jump, jump" so everyone did whilst people were struggling to get up. I remember shouting upto the stage "are you fucking kidding me, Billie?" lol Oooh and I always feel very hxc when guys start asking to get pulled out and I think giiirl power haha.
E!!i Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 The good things: your nearer to them, you could get on stage and it makes more fun cause you can do pogo The bad things: it's exhausting cause you are thirsty, your legs and back hurt and sometimes you feel sick but the good things make up for the bad
LinziLetterbomb Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 It's quite scary really, coz you see people around you being pulled out because they've passed out or whatever. I was standing at the LCCC in june and at one point i blacked out coz i got kicked in the head when someone was being carried over me. I don't remember the first two songs very well but i was ok! The one good thing about standing is that you can get closer to the stage, and it's the most amazing thing to have them standing right in front of you playing their hearts out!
Holly Ann Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Oh my god, how come?! I'm not too sure, actually. Haha. We was sitting next to a couple, and they moved after talking to a security dude. My mum followed them down to the front. xD This was after Prima Donna, when the pink bunny was on. We were so lucky, we were dancing and crying xD
sara_gd Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I've only been in the pit so I can't really tell 2 different stories, but I think standing is definetely the best. It's true that if you're not in the first rows you get really thirsty, and exhausted at some points. In Madrid I was quite far back and it was like that, I couldn't breath some times, but I think it was better than being in the grades. If you don't mind people all around you and pushing, and getting really sweaty, it's ok xD You're nearer to them, so I think it's worth it
kristinsinferno Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 even with all the puching and shoving, there are moments where everyone is just levitating and we all feel like we are all... i don't know how to describe it, but it's a beautiful thing. for the parts that aren't so nice, i recommend bringing a big guy (or even a big girl) who can deflect moshers from you. i know he will be the boyfriend stereo type, though =]. also one last thought, your feet will stop hurting as soon as they play song of the century... trust me. (it WILL come back after that very last chord of good riddance, though!)
Kaddi. Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Well, first of all... standing is definetely better than sitting. I sat once at a Green Day show and it was okay, but nothing like standing. About standing... I never had a problem in the pit. It always depends on where you're standing though. I was in the first row twice. In Mainz, it was totally awesome although people were pushing a bit, but not too bad. The atmosphere was just awesome. In Dortmund, I was standing in front of Mike and I dunno... I couldn't see Billie and Tre at all and the atmosphere was a bit lame. The other times I was in the middle of the pit... somewhere between the third and the sixth row usually. You can't see everything, but the atmosphere it totally awesome... I was so exhausted after those shows, because I was jumping up and down all the time. It's really a lot of fun, but also quite heavy sometimes. And you gotta be careful to not get into the moshpit if you don't want to.
musse Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 even with all the puching and shoving, there are moments where everyone is just levitating and we all feel like we are all... i don't know how to describe it, but it's a beautiful thing. for the parts that aren't so nice, i recommend bringing a big guy (or even a big girl) who can deflect moshers from you. i know he will be the boyfriend stereo type, though =]. also one last thought, your feet will stop hurting as soon as they play song of the century... trust me. (it WILL come back after that very last chord of good riddance, though!) I passionately hate those Boyfriends ;D I'm a tiny little girl and they still think they need to kick my ass to protect their precious gf. So beware of boyfriends... Yeah, it can get a bit uncomfortable in the pit but there's nothing better than that, after all. Jumping up and down and singing along, and the sweaty and people around you pushing and hitting you... I love it, I really do. That's how a gig's supposed to be. And yeah, Song Of The Century will take all the pain away ^_____^ ...But after Good Riddance it comes back a million times worse. It's all worth it, though.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I can see what everyone means by the 'Class Of 13' bit in 21CB video ^^on that video on the right hand side you see everybody trying to push forward and then going backwards then forwards again Haha, yeah It's also like that at St Jimmy after the "coming at you on the count of 1, 2, 1234" bit It's a tiny bit scary because you have zero control over where you're going, it's just one big mass of people and you're in it, unable to do anything, you're just being ... idk the word, but you just go wherever the mass goes because you have no other option, it's a completely solid, moving mass of people. But I don't mind
For Lack of a Better Word Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 At my first gig, I was fifth or sixth row, so quite in the middle of all the festivities you might say At the first notes of SOTC, it just feels like you're in an ocean of people. And all you can really do is go with the flow and try to keep your head above water. So the whole experience of being a small part of this was kind of scary, but so amazing at the same time! And then the mere realization that Billie, Mike and Tré actually do exist in real life is just... whoa!! And you get to be at goddamn spitting distance! But that feeling wasn't quite there for me when I was in the seats. I kind of felt cut off from the band and the rest of the crowd, I don't know. But maybe that was partly because it was in a big stadium and the people around me just weren't that enthusiastic. Well, not on the same level of extreme extaticness (is that even a word?) as I was anyway And then there's the barrier. Totally the best place if you really want to feel a connection with the band I think. Gahh, when Mike winked at us... But being all squished together, there's less room to jump around and stuff. And you sometimes shouldn't be afraid of a little pushing and shoving yourself, to keep your precious spot. And it's always nice when the people that have been queueing with you, back you up when it comes to dealing with the occasional obnoxious bastard So, if I have to choose, I'd go for the pit. Most definitely.
JadedHaushinka Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 As for me, my legs started aching so badly because of 9-hour standing + walking back to the hotel for over an hour without no sitting. But yeah.. everyone were pushing so hard and I lost my good spot to a pretty good spot. My sister got a better spot, though. But other than that, it was pretty okay. It was hard to record lol. My camera was shaking all the time due to jumping and pushing people.
keefe Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Good Things - nice and close with the band and fans Bad Things - tall people.
Rachel Nimrod Armstrong Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I got standing for manchester and wembley a couple of months ago two of the BEST night of my life lol! anywas i got standing for them and the good thing about standing is that i was in the front which frikin amazing!! but there was also a bad thing i got pushed and shoved around and someone threw beer on me and my friend so yeah it's AMAZING to be standing but you do get your bad things about it too lol!
Pedestrian9394 Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 First of all, let me just say that I love the pit. =D Good things: You can get very close to the stage (and possibly get up on stage with the band if you're lucky), hear the music louder and more clearly as well as see the band better if you can get a good spot, and just generally enjoy the atmosphere of the mosh pit. Hahaha. It's great to have lots of fans around you who are going crazy. It's almost surreal. Bad things: There are always assholes who want to push and cause trouble. Obviously, you should EXPECT to get pushed, but people can get a little bit nasty, and you might have to deal with that. Also, especially for summer shows, it's much, much hotter in the pit because of how many people are tightly packed together. You have to prepare for that and drink lots of water and the wear appropriate clothing. You also have to fight for your spot in the pit and fight to keep it, which is a little bit hard to do sometimes. A lot of people like to have reserve seats because they can be 100% sure of their spot. All in all, the pit is worth your money. You just have to be up for it.
cherrybomb! Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Good things: the whole experiance Bad things: nothing, ( not even stepping in a beer cup of piss )
in_your_face Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 if you wanna enjoy your precious time with the band, you should buy tickets for lawn. 'cause it's much more closer, and we get a nice view of the whole scene. you could look at the big screens to see the band up close.
Just Kate Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 omg it has to be amazing... someday i'll tell you what it's like but not yet
.:Whatsername:. Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 I haven't had any really bad experiences with being on the floor. (I've only been on the floor three times, once at an MCR show a long time ago and twice at Green Day). It is a little rough, but not a lot, I guess it depends where you are though. On Wednesday when I saw Green Day, I was really close to the front, but as the night went on I got pushed farther to the back. It's also REALLY hot. It could be the dead of winter and I still think you'd sweat. At both Green Day concerts I've been to, I was dripping sweat within the first few songs (and I hardly ever do enough physical activity to make me sweat like that. ) Your hair gets soaked, your clothes get soaked. If they play a really long set your legs and back and neck will start to hurt a lot by the end and you'll be sore for a few days after. (I still am right now.) On Wednesday, I hadn't had anything to drink and only had a sandwhich that day, so I blame that, but I was not feeling too great by the end of the show and ended up having to sit on the ground for a few minutes. But at the first Green Day concert I went to I didn't have that problem. So I don't know. I think the pain and everything you go through on the floor is definitely worth being that close to the guys. So close you could almost reach up and touch them. Not to mention being crowded in among all those other fans, it's a pretty awesome feeling.
whatsername..x Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 My favourite shows were definately when I've done standing!! I've only done seated once, for Wembley, just cos I knew how huge it was and was kinda worried about being in the middle of litterally, thousands of people. Even though I managed to get front row on the closest block to the stage, it was no way as fun as the mosh pits down the front!! Brave standing, in my opinion, it's well worth getting pushed around abit
Adeline.Hearts.You Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Thats a pretty hard question to answer. But i went to my first Concert ever, wembley, june 19th Green day. And that day was the best day of my life. As soon as the bunny comes on the hype gets almost unreal. Everyone pushes towards the front, of the pit. And then come the chants, and your so excitied, its like nothing else in the world matter, becasue all you can think of is right here and right now. And then come on Green Day, and you just start to freak out and go insane, these are the guys who have proably had the buggest effect in you life, you've only ever seen im in the media, but they are just their right infront of you. I was right at the front of the pit by the cat walk ... and eveyone around you was freaking out, and you all feed of each others energy. It like no other thing if experienced in my life. I took the time to look back at the 80 + thousand people, and i jsut couldnt take it all in. I forgot how much pain i was in but it was so hot, and just wild. I had blood running down my legs. And i got punched in the head many times. But as soon as the pit starts to move or just you just go with it. Then comes along 21stcbd ... and everthing is intensifed. and by the time of the encore, thats when the emotions really hit you. And you can come to terms with "the mosment" and the memorries that you have made, and you can see it billie to . .in his face. Its just beautiful, and when ever i look back, i just loose myself!

JoeMcHugh Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Standing around whilst sober is not good at all, having a few drinks before the gig is always good, and then during the show some massive sweaty guys drag you into the mosh pit and try and put you into hospital. Also the heat dehydrates you so much. Apart from that its amazing, I would never choose to buy seat tickets down at a Green Day gig.
Marsupial Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 I've done both. My first GD concert I was standing. Its a great atmosphere in the pit and to be able to mosh and jump around to your fave songs. However I'm 5 foot 2 and I couldn't really see the band But seating is the same. You get a great atmosphere, you feel included and I like it better when I can see the show. Gah, I feel your pain! Being vertically challenged at almost any show normally sucks. The only Green Day show I went to, I was in seats, but really, I couldn't see a damn thing. I was standing behind fairly tall, older men The music was still good, nonetheless.
