Mar Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I love the lyrics of this song, but there’s something about the sound of it that is agitating to me. Oh man, I understand completely what you mean! I don't dislike the song at all, but I think it has so much less emotional power than any of the other "about a girl" songs the band has.
Marki. Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Haushinka is an amazing song I'm too damn young to be too late, but am I? - This is one of the lines that always really make me think, I love it.
Maura99 Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Not one of my favorites on Nimrod, but it's a good song. It may be peculiar, but I like the name Haushinka. I think it has a good vibe to it
fadi_7 Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 i love it one of my fav in nimrod bur i still don't know what does it mean
Armageddon Flame. Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I fell in love with this song while waiting in Dublin airport for my flight to Manchester in June It was relatively ignored till then, but now I love it
*_Whatsername_* Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I really like this song and definitely agree that it's underrated. I actually think that I prefer the Dookie Demo Haushinka (Versions 1 and 3 anyway) to the Nimrod version. I think a couple of the lyrics are different and it seems to have more emotional power for some reason.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Oh man, I understand completely what you mean! I don't dislike the song at all, but I think it has so much less emotional power than any of the other "about a girl" songs the band has. I think you're right, there... the song doesn't have much power. And while that isn't always necessary for a song, that it has power, it's kind of missing in Haushinka. edit which no one will probably read but anyway: I meant this also as emotional. Musically, the song definitely has power, it's one big build-up.
DecanoLP Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 The first times I listened to Nimrod I couldn't make a difference between Jinx and Haushinka. I thought Jinx was a long song Good song though, I like it And I know there is live recording of it, they played it sometime in 92/93, probably the Dookie demo version. Don't know which show that was though...
Maddy. Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I really dislike this song. It just doesn't work for me.
Bastard of 1967 Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 This week’s Song of the Week is Haushinka. Please use this thread to discuss your thoughts and feelings about the song. One word: BASS. Ok, another word: Percussion. The rhythm section is the first thing that hits me about the song whenever the iPod hoarks it up. The lyrics are the next. Lyrically, Haushinka is a bittersweet memory but different than "Whatsername" in focus, point, and tone. It is the "what could have been" but never was, and a plea -- a prayer -- that if after all this time she still doesn't find out who she is or what she wants, "I'll be here in battle scars waiting for you." LOVE this song.
Smoothed Out Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 It's not one of my favourites, but I do love the lyrics
Rachel Nimrod Armstrong Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Haushinka is AWESOME!!!! love this song i played it on guitar last night lol!
JadedHaushinka Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 It was my favorite song for a long time. I enjoy listening to it and I love it. An epic song for sure.
Trina Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I love this song. Not a ultimate favorite but amazing anyways. I remember though, I was obsessed with it when I was 11/12. I would play it on repeat for hours on end! Now it makes me quite nostalgic. I have always had this thought that Haushinka is such a movie song, if that makes sense?! Just the way it bursts in and the sound of it would be so fitting for a movie. xD Anyways, it's gorgeous and yeah, lovely bass line. Favorite lyric; 'I'm too damn young to be too late, but am I? ' This is one of my favorite songs! But I really don't know what it is about...did he ACTUALLY met someone called Haushinka? Yes.
Agija Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I remember the times when I was kind of addicted to this song. I've loved the song since the first time I heard it about 5 years ago. The lyrics are just awesome. I absolutely love this part.. 'Will she ever find her way, I'm too damn young to be late, but am I Yet again I'm kicking myself, and I'll be here in battle scars waiting for you Waiting for youuu now..' The sound, the lyrics Same here.
ANJI Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 One of my all time favourite songs! Love the lyrics and the song...and my dad has quite a similar name to Haushinka
st.idiot Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 my fav parts are the intro and then the waiting for you waiting for you know and the little breakdown bit
Katarina. Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 HAUSHINKA! I love this song and it's lyrics so much, it's one of my all time favorite Green Day songs.
st.idiot Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 i like all of the demo versions of haushinka but i love hearing the raw and powerful sound it has. they all have the emotion behind the words which green day can do quite well
LilithofSuburbia Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Not my favorite, but still pretty good.
maz17 Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I like the lyrics to the song but theres something about it that makes it kinda hard to listen to and I have tried but its one of the few songs I cant really get into
Marlee Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 this is one of my favorites off of Nimrod, and i really like how it connects to jinx. the first few times i listened to Nimrod i didn't realise the song changed, so i thought it was like a 6 minute long song
J'net Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 One of my all time favourite songs! Love the lyrics and the song...and my dad has quite a similar name to Haushinka Okay, now you must tell me your dad's name. I simply MUST know!
CoreyGregory Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I have to admit, I do think this song is pretty neat. Nimrod hits me so hard every time I listen.
OverjoyedAndroid Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Funny, I didn't listen to this song for a VERY long time, but I knew I didn't like it much, so when I saw it was Song of the Week I was like Oh, God(LOL). I still felt the urge to click on it for some reason, and I'm glad I did, because I then listened to it with Jinx, and those two are probably my favorites off of Nimrod now. Thanks guys! I really dislike this song. It just doesn't work for me. Well I dislike you, then LOL. I'm just kidding. It didn't work for me at first, but now I love it. If you haven't yet, listen to it with Jinx. It makes it 1000000000000000 times better.
