Eighty. Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Ah! Yep, found it. Sorry, I stopped sending out confirmation e-mails after the 1st, but we did get it! aww thank you so much! do I need to do anything? just tell me! When will we have some news about this?
711_Disciple Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 Hey guys! First of all, I want to apologize for waiting so long to make this announcement. Laura and I have been planning this for over 2 months, and I didn't want to spoil anything or get anyone's hopes up. That said, I'm happy to report that the plan went off without a hitch. What plan, you ask? Well, after the January 8th evening performance of "American Idiot" that I was so priveleged to attend, I was, after the encore, lucky enough to hand a member of the cast a 12" by 12", full-color, bound book containing 45 letters from the "Words We Might Have Ate" project. Which cast member? You may have heard of him...Billie Joe Armstrong. While the man is busier than anyone and more than likely hasn't had a chance to read it yet, I'm proud to say that I put the book in his hands myself (he looked at me, smiled, and asked "What's this?" before being distracted by other fans). Laura and I are thrilled that we were able to pull this off, and we hope you're as excited as we are! We're immensely proud of the way the book turned out. And of course it couldn't have been possible without everyone's work and creativity in submitting their pictures, artwork, and letters. That said, we have a question to pose. Laura and I split the cost of the book and shipping to give to Billie, so it was somewhat affordable for us, but at-cost, offering the same edition to you all would run at $55. That said, there are some cost-saving options that Laura and I are exploring (ordering them in bulk, getting a smaller edition) that we'll keep you posted on, of course. We want you all to be able to see it and be as proud of it as we are. Our question is this: how many of you, if any, would want a copy of the book? Without worrying about cost or shipping yet, how many of you are interested in having a physical copy of this book to yourselves? Again, thanks so much for everything you guys put into this. The outcome was better than we could have imagined.
Tre_Gina Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Thanks for the update and congrats for getting it into Billie Joe's hands! I would defo like to have a copy but as you say that is a bit pricey at the mo...

(Because if so, omgmomentofpanic! he's going to read my letter!)

I would have loved to have written a letter. Ah well! Congrats on getting them to him
whatsername343 Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 haha I saw them to I was standing right next to them actually At least when the cover of the book said "You taught us how to live" So are all the letters included or did you pick out random letters? But I think I would be interested in having a copy if all were included
Vespertine Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Whoa just read the e-mail. I sent you guys a letter. All the letters you were sent are in the book?

But I think I would be interested in having a copy if all were included Actually, the cover of our book doesn't say that, hahah. That was probably someone else with a scrapbook kind of project. We didn't pick random letters, but we used the healthy majority. 45 created a good size of a book, and that way all of the letters were somewhat different, y'know?

solongfromthestars Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Fuck, that's so awesome! Although I'm worried that they'll read mine and go "what the FUCK? Next time I see that British girl I'm pretending I don't know who she is!" I'd love to have a copy of the book!
Tre_Gina Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 can we see a few photos of what it looks like? Thanks!
solongfromthestars Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I'm shitting myself (not literally) worrying what they thought if any of them have read my letter
711_Disciple Posted January 16, 2011 Author Posted January 16, 2011 If they read your letter, that's an awesome thing! No one has anything to be ashamed of. I loved each and every one of them
decca Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Ah alright Well it could've been ^^ Since it was really thick and it was the same day y'know I would really like to see what it looked like though Would be interesting to know which letters you picked too The two of us were together and I've got a pink and blonde mohawk, if that helps.
MCC Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 It would be nice to know if our letter was included in the book. Is there any way you could let the people whose letters you used know? I also kind of feel sad for the fans whose letter wasn't included. I don't want this to come off the wrong way but with the price being as expensive as it is/will be, I would only buy one if my letter was in it.
Eighty. Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 OMG THIS IS AWESOME! DO YOU HAVE ANY PIC OF YOU GIVING IT TO BILLIE???? YOU MADE MY DAY! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! Annnd how did you printed the pages?? I mean.. do you have pictures or something about how the book looked before giving it to Bj?

I don't want this to come off the wrong way but with the price being as expensive as it is/will be, I would only buy one if my letter was in it. I understand about the pricing, although honestly the price would be lower if we got more buyers (it's cheaper to get just about anything in bulk). So, technically, if people bought the book whose letters weren't in it, the price would be lower for everyone involved. I understand the draw to one's own letter, though. Also, you guys are totally in the right for asking for some shots of the book. With that in mind, I got some screenshots of the program that I used to design the book. To clarify, I used a site that actually printed it like a book, bound and everything. Taking physical pictures didn't do it justice (flash reflecting off the glossy pages/cover and whatnot), so here are a few screenshots I took. I was pleased to find out that the way they show up online are exactly the way they showed up in the mail...meaning was absolutely amazed at how awesome it looked, if I do say so myself! As the book was given to Billie after the performance of "American Idiot", there is no photographic/video evidence of it. I'm kind of glad for that, because the performance of the cast was absolutely amazing and they deserved the full attention of the crowd, not someone viewing it through a camera lens, y'know?
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Oh shit, I completely forgot about this after I posted I had forgotten about it like back in November or something. Too late now. Awesome you got to give it to Billie. How many letters are in it? edit: never mind, just saw it.
whatsername343 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 The two of us were together and I've got a pink and blonde mohawk, if that helps. haha we kinda stood next to each other I was the girl with the cig....I was there with Tony the other day I think I said hi on Sunday at the entrance before lottery started xD But I guess many people did...the only remarkable thing about me is my septum ring and the fact that I'm from Germany I guess Oh the book looks fucking awesome =O But yeah it would be nice to know if your own letter was included before buying it, I'm with the others there^^ Which programm did you use ?
reckless Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Example of a spread (including submitted art and some clipart): http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/5148/wwmha2.jpgYay, my graffiti is on it thanks for the pictures, it looks great. As I already said to Laura, if you manage to lower the price, I will totally buy it!
solongfromthestars Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Do we get to know whose letters are in there?
