So, that's the way I'm supposed to change my mind? The title says: "... AI cast getting annoying". If there's absolutely nothing that annoys you from this, then you should post somewhere else and stop attacking people who doesn't like any of this.

Actually, I don't care what you think. And I don't know what the fuck was I thinking when I wrote my first post. Maybe I'm too wrong, but I'm tired of what can or can't say, otherwise you all get mad. All that's left to say is, I'll stop posting hate for AI.c. & Fuck you all, leave others speak their minds, too!

We're letting you speak your mind, but because we don't agree, we reply to it. It's the starter for a discussion. 2/3 of your opinion was completely irrational. Take your hate for the people in American Idiot, it's irrational because you don't know these people personally. The reason you stated for hating them was

I think that the 'cast' wants to become famous through Green Day, and I HATE THAT. I accept that the musical can be great (i never saw it, so i can't say much about it) but I'm seriously sick of this fucking people. They have talent, OK, THEN THEY SHOULD STAY PLAYING THE MUSICAL IN THE FUCKING THEATRE AND STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM GREEN DAY!

The cast is already famous, and Green Day lets them perform with them (so to speak) because they're proud of their succesful album making it so big and it's just a huge deal for them. They're loving it. It's ridiculous to assume that they're tagging along to get famous.

If you can't handle people not agreeing with you, I suggest you don't post. There's always going to be people with a different opinion. Learn to cope.

Oh God, I'm totally agree with you! And is exactly what I thought when I knew this. C'mon, everytime they're going to appear somewhere, it has to be with those assholes!: tv shows, awards, now the cast is going to make a 'meet&greet', God dammit!! Enough is enough!!! I never liked the idea AND the people inside of the musical anyway, I feel that the "masterpiece" AMERICAN IDIOT has been destroyed and worn-out. Green Day don't need these people to make a great performance... but I just don't know what the hell goes through their minds anymore... and it's killing me!

we see things exactly the same way.

You're posting on a forum. Discussing different opinions kind of comes with the territory. You were making some pretty wild accusations in your post, which is what everyone is responding so negatively to.

Also, the title actually says "Are Green Day and the AI cast getting annoying." The lack of a question mark doesn't stop it from being an open question to everyone on both sides (or on the middle of) the fence.

I don't have a problem with the musical being promoted or their performing with the cast - but it's a shame that's taken such huge precedence over promoting the new album, which let's face it has been promoted poorly and could've made so much more of an impact.

I think that's why people get so annoyed about the musical, really. If they'd released a kick ass song with an amazing video and promoted it properly so that everyone was talking about Green Day and 21st CB, I bet a lot less people would be bothered about them doing the odd musical related thing. I mean, when the album came out they said they couldn't wait to release East Jesus Nowhere and make a splash with it, so what happened? Did they chicken out because it might overshadow the musical? I can understand the annoyance even if some people are expressing it in a ridiculously over-the-top way.

wow! some strong reactions to this! its almost like people cant share the band or something. or just cant accept that the guys are going to be involved, as a band, with some things you wont like. personally I havent taken a huge amount of notice of the whole musical thing. maybe if I`d been able to go and see it live rather than seeing bits on youtube I might be more interested. I havent even bothered buying the sound track to this.

maybe I`m just losing interest in all the side shows that go on with the band and just sticking to enjoying the music. but honestly... I couldnt give a stuff about all this and just dont get why people would have a problem with them doing this. theres more to green day than just the albums and shows. this is a new dimension. if you dont like that part...just ignore it. wont make any difference if you do throw a huge hissy fit over it at the end of the day any way so why waste the energy?

As has been previously mentioned, several of the cast members were famous before the American Idiot musical. Also, Green Day ask them along, they are not forcing Green Day to let them join them. The "meet and greet" has nothing to do with Green Day, and people actually want to talk to the actors, so I don't see why you have a problem with that.

I really like the musical and everything, I loved the album, the few videos I've watched from it and it would be a dream to me if I ever get to see it. John Gallagher Jr. it's an amazing singer, and so it's the girl who plays Whatsername (whose name I haven't memorized yet). The cast is really talented to my point of view and the whole story it's a masterpiece. I don't have any problem with that, and I know Green Day has enough arguments to be proud of it and everything, but I have to admit I'd prefer they didn't mix with that. I mean, the 21 Guns performance at the Grammy's was great, I enjoyed it. The cast playing at Good Morning America, awesome too. But if they kept doing it, I think the whole musical thing can get annoying to people.

I think there's a time and a place for promoting the musical.

But generally I don't mind. The band are so excited about it and you can't blame them for wanting to make it a success by promoting it as much as possible.

And besides there are plenty of tour shows at the moment that are promoting the album not to mention giving us something Green-Day-performance related to talk about

I dont get all this hate! I mean, if you haven't seen the musical, I don't even think you have a reason not to like it. And if you have and you didn't it's ok, but don't be rude about it!

and if it bothers you so much that they'll be performing with the cast, don't watch it

Before the release of 21STCB it got promoted alot and a little after the release it felt most if not all the efforts went into promoting the musical. I can understand the need to promote the musical but it really is unfortunate that it had to happen from so early on into the release of the album and is still going strong to this day. It doesn't feel right to me. Like someone mentioned before, it does feel like if Green Day has a chance to promote, best get the musical in there and that is a lil off putting for me. Maybe because of this musical there is not a live DVD or missing out on tv appearances like Storytellers or Comp'd from the AI era, it's these things that I miss. If Green Day performs in an awards show later this year would it be surprising if the cast joins in again. It's too much. I just want Green Day now.

Honestly, to the haters in this thread, do you really call yourselves Green Day fans? Let me put it this way, if Green Day were to be able to read this thread and see all of the hate that you're posting, do you really think they'd like to see people hating on something that they've worked so hard on? I think not.

I'm not just referring to the people who have their opinions which are just like "I dislike it, blah blah" I'm referring to those of you who have been extremely rude & uncalled for within this thread. Seriously dudes, not cool =/

Alot of people here haven't SEEN the musical at all and yet they're judging it so harshly... I find that wrong. If you have seen it and are able to actually pass judgement on it, then thats one thing but not seeing it and going "lyke omg they're so annoying they're on tv with them all the time I can't see billie joe's face" grow up.

It makes sense that a ROCK OPERA gets turned into a MUSICAL. Its not a random, out of nowhere, just to sell out and make some money kind of thing, so if you have an issue with Green Day having fun making something unique such as a musical, which isn't something that you see every day in the music industry with rock bands, then you have no reason to call yourselves fans. Seriously, get over yourselves and support the band you signed up onto a forum for, damnit.

^ We're allowed to state our personal opinions, right? :P

I dislike it yes and I wouldnt put it up as one of their best achivements

and wouldnt the band be happy that we've got our own opinions and not kissing ass all the time?

Makes sense. I'm glad you're not being too harsh on it though lol I just didn't like some of the particular comments that made people look like they knew everything, you know? I get that some people don't like musicals and they may feel that the AI thing didn't do anything for GD but I like supporting my favourite bands no matter what. Obviously they think its a great idea & are having lots of fun with it .

Hell, if they all wanted to join the circus I'd support them if that was what they really wanted to do XD

...(Now theres a thought.. Tre in a thong juggling fire while Mike & Billie tame lions!)

maybe some people dont like how some fans always kiss ass, by supporting EVERYTHING the band do

not saying you do

but it irritates me when people always say, oh wow this is awesome, oh and this is amazing too, oh this is really really good, like omg i love billie blah blah blah

There will always be fans like that.

Well, to be honest what I meant by that was that I'll SUPPORT it, not necessarily like it.

I don't love every song, in fact there are some that I don't like, in which I WILL state "I'm not a fan of that song, for this reason", not "omg i love this" even if I don't. It's more along the lines of the fact that I know they've tried really hard on the song so if I don't like it I'm not going to hate on it. Theres a difference between supporting a band and kissing ass, does that make sense? Lol.

Wow, some of the hate in this thread is kinda ridiculous.

I understand if people dislike the musical, whether they have seen it or not. I admit when I heard the cast version of 21 Guns for the first time, I wasn't too fond of it and basically ignored the musical until the cast recording was released. But some of the claims that the cast are using the band to get "famous" is just stupid. It's not like the cast can invite themselves to a Green Day performance. The band obviously asked them to join them. They're proud of the cast and what they've been able to create together, and if they want to promote it, well that's their choice. As for promoting 21st Century Breakdown, isn't that what the tour is for?

As others have said, some of the cast were famous, if you will, before American Idiot. The role of Jesus Of Suburbia in the musical was practically written for John Gallagher Jr. Hence the reason why the character's name is Johnny to begin with. Michael Mayer presented the idea of the musical when he invited the band to see Spring Awakening when Gallagher was in it.

I mean, everyone has the right to like or dislike the musical as they would like or dislike any other Green Day album. Saying the cast recording "ruined" American Idiot is silly. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. :)
