-Billiejoezee- Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Maybe Billie needed help writing the lyrics... maybe he couldn't describe his love very well.
Clean Cut Asshole Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Hey, sorry for the year bump. But I was just thinking about this. I think Rippinz is Pete Rypins from Crimpshrine and Tilt. Mike said in an interview from about '94 that they were good friends and that Pete had helped out with GD in the past. I can't really think of who else it would be. I didn't know Dave "E.C." Henwood was in Green Day! I only knew him from The Wynona Riders (for those of you who don't know, another Gilman punk band).
solongfromthestars Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 That's interesting actually, something I never knew about one of my favourite songs. I guess they just helped with the music or they could have contributed a little bit to the lyrics as well, once it was finished or something.
San Miguel Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 weird coincidence - i was listening to Kerplunk and reading through the booklet about an hour ago... spooky
Alan86 Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 DJ Rossstar asked Mike about this in an interview over a year ago and got an answer so no need for the speculation. He asks about 28seconds into this video
Todd Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Hey, also on the back of the inside booklet on kerplunk, where a bunch of names are listed, it says "Brainstew". Does anybody know what that is??
Hermione Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Hey, also on the back of the inside booklet on kerplunk, where a bunch of names are listed, it says "Brainstew". Does anybody know what that is?? That's James Washburn, an old friend of the band/member of the local punk scene who was nicknamed Brainstew. Green Day later named the song Brain Stew after him (I guess just because he was a friend and part of the scene they came from and it's a cool name for a song).

When I saw that, it shocked me.
Hermione Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Ok. Thanks. When I saw that, it shocked me. You're welcome, if you haven't heard that bit of info before it is quite surprising to see a random future song title in the album notes like that.
Todd Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I saw that interview before. What did mike say in Private Ale? ???? Crystal crackin? Im surprised Mike remembered what Private Ale was.
