Whatsername_21 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 people keep saying that green day will get so much shit. do you think they'd care? i mean how do you think they get past the whole gilman thing? if green day has tought any of it's fans 1 thing it's do what you want and have fun. if they don't wanna do any of these then they won't but if they do it's just more fun for us fans and for them i agree, they do what they want, not what they're told.

With the Gilman thing, it was kind of low-key. The Superbowl is one of the biggest events of the year. I don't know, personally I'd love it, but if I know most radio/TV/internet personnel and football fans, there's gonna be alot of "oh what queers/a terrible choice for halftime/they're old and done with/their music sucks." going on.
st.idiot Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 i don't i mean i think there would be some people like all no but i think most people would enjoy it
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Watch out, non-American coming in. What's so special about that? What even IS the Superbowl? Is it a place (stadium/arena), or the name for some sports championship something? I keep reading stuff like that they'll get shit for it and something about dancing? I'm really curious what it is now xD
blitzkriegdeb Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 It's kind of a tricky thing to tell. On one hand, if they played the right songs, it could be really good. I just think the idea of seeing Green Day at halftime doesn't sit well with alot of people. Then again, the last few halftime shows (sans The Who) were absolutely dreadful, so who knows. Watch out, non-American coming in. What's so special about that? What even IS the Superbowl? Is it a place (stadium/arena), or the name for some sports championship something? I keep reading stuff like that they'll get shit for it and something about dancing? I'm really curious what it is now xD It's basically the championship game for football, it's usually a huuuuuuge event.

I'm really curious what it is now xD it's a huge football(not soccer) event where the 2 top teams play each other. there's always a famous singer or band playing during the halftime show. i know thats a shitty explanation but it's the best i could do

I've found that with things like this, I could either look it up on Wikipedia, have to read a long ass text and still not really get it, or ask it here and get a short, clear explanation. So then I go for the latter.

Bastard of 1967 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 There's only so much they can take, though. Yes, and when you cross the line, Billie writes songs like 86, Reject, Platypus, Take Back, and Minority. As I'm thinking more about this, maybe they *should* play the 'bowl. That would attract the vitriol, the vitriol will piss 'em off, and then we'll get some new songs that sound more like their early 90's punk style. Which will attract vitriol from the fans who joined them during the more recent AI, 21CB, and AIOB cycles, which will piss 'em off again, and so on!
gdpony Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 it would certainly be a nice change, super bowl performances are pretty boring, except for The Who last time
Pedestrian9394 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 After seeing The Who's performance last time (which wasn't that great), I think that Green Day would be a great choice for it. the Who's performance was pretty effing awesome, considering they're pushing 70. But yeah, I would love to see Green Day play the Superbowl. They deserve it. =D
BJWolf Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 They shouldn't. Don't get me wrong it would be great for us and the band if they played the superbowl, but they would just bring that damned cast along and fucking ruin it.

Katarina. Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Why not? They should do whatever they like and want to do
Holly Ann Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 YESSS SDFLASKFL;FKSDL;FK Even thougb I couldn't be there but yano
st.idiot Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 YESSS SDFLASKFL;FKSDL;FK Even thougb I couldn't be there but yano hahahaha oh i know all right lol
Kayfabe Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Not American but the superbowl sounds large, therefore yes. They shouldn't. Don't get me wrong it would be great for us and the band if they played the superbowl, but they would just bring that damned cast along and fucking ruin it. calmcalm. I'm sure they wouldn't go that far..
st.idiot Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 if they were to bring the cast along i think it'd be for the last song or the opening song
1039slappygirl Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Without the musical. Nothing against them, but I'd rather watch the band play alone.
Angela. Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I think it would be interesting. But I say if they ever do it, it's gotta be a year the Steelers are in the Superbowl. Favorite band and favorite NFL team together? Fuck. Yes.
