yes... good idea

unfortunately they didn't mentioned anything about Paris on twitter

But they weren't regularly tweeting until they got back to the US. That doesn't mean they didn't appreciate it. I'm sure they did.

I wish there was a reverse picture of the one in your sig. One showing Billie's face seeing all the thank you signs. That would be awesome to see!

yeah, i was on the front row and I could see how touched was Billie, he was trying to hold his tears (forgive me if my english is wrong)

Aw, really? I was wondering what his exact reaction/expression was. Thanks for sharing! :D

Sure! I was in the barrier on the front of the catwalk, the encore was when it's time where some people showed their signs (but he was singing with closed eyes lol) then wake me up where he always gets touched and then everything turned blue in good riddance and the signs started to appear, there were thousands of them, was so amazing. At the end of the song he said: wake me up when september ends and he held his guitar in the air and he stood up looking at us and turning around, he pointed at us and smiled, he still stayed on the catwalk looking at us while Mike and Tré were in a side of the stage, Tré threw some drumsticks and Mike putted his hand in his heart and he pointed at us as Billie did, then they disappeared.

It would be awesome for someone to organize at one of the next shows maybe half the signs say MERCI and half say THANK YOU.

This is what myself and a few other Montreal based GDCers will be doing for our show. It works perfectly because our audience is English/French bilingual, and it'll be a great way to give Paris that nod of appreciation too. We're hoping to have a few thousand signs made too :)

Thats a great idea :)

I was at the Virginia show, but didn't think to bring one.

I'll bring one next time. They totally deserve a huge 'Thank You'

Posted

I'm definitely going to make one next time.

I only saw like 2 people holding signs so I'm surprised he noticed them.

Am I the only one who thinks we shouldn't do this? I mean yes, they deserve the biggest fucking THANK YOU ever. But if this became a routine they see at the end of every show, would they not get bored of it? They did it in France and the states, I think it should be left at that, while it still has some effect on the guys.

I think it's a beautiful idea, and I really wish someone had thought of it before Wembley. At both of the GD shows I've been to, I really wanted to find a way to show the guys how much I appreciate how hard they work and what wonderful shows they give us.

If I'm ever lucky enough to see them again, I'm definitely doing this! I just hope people don't start doing it at other bands' shows, because this is something that's born out of how close to the fans Green Day are and I'd love it to stay special to them, because they are so special to me.

Cool I'm going to do that for the AZ show. I was going to make a sign anyways but it's cool to have everyone do it!!!

Here is a close one (more or less) but it has bad quality

Did y'all see the tweet about montreal's thank you signs? Yayayay! Phoenix folks "gracias" signs?

Given all thse shit that's going down with profiling and treating immigrants like hunted dogs it would be awesome for someone to create a sign for phoenix that shows thanks to greenday as well as a statement for respect for all. Anyone game to make something up?

I was front row at Paris and I cried at the signs. I was speaking to the French girl in the line who made them in very broken French and told her how amazing an idea it was but I didn't think it would be on the scale it was. It was stunning still one of the best things about the tour even after the disaster that was our Paris trip

i wanna see pics of the other concerts with thankyou signs!

Thank you for posting. It's nice to see his reaction.

you're welcome !I can't wait to see them in Spain.

there are not many spanish people here in GDC so I personally will give out the "Gracias" signs to EVERYONE

Unfortunately there are people who throw away the signs

This is a lovely idea, I wish I had thought of making one for the shows I've been to.

I've found this video of Wake Me Up and Good Riddance of the Montreal show. You can see some of the signs (but there wasn't as much as in Paris).
