♥PunkKitty♥ Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Pretty much everything about them is just awesome to me. Even the stuff about them I didn't like all that much at first (like a lot of their older stuff) I ended up loving.
lizziebix Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 What I've always liked about their music vs. really hard core punk, is that you can actually hear the words instead of just being screamed at. It always sounds like music with great lyrics and great, well, music. That's what endears me to them most of all.
blitzkriegdeb Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Well, I started listening to them at a really shitty time in my life, and at first I thought they were just catchy songs. When I started reading into the lyrics I was like "Damn, this dude's saying exactly what I feel/wanted to hear". They just kind of stuck with me from that point on. I suppose it was one of those "right place, right time" things.
Hermione Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Maddy, we don't "blindly believe Green Day is absolutely perfect". We say good things about them and we're enthusiastic about them because we think they're good. There's no ulterior motive, it's as simple as that. Enjoying something is a great thing, it's something worth celebrating and it's interesting to talk about. That's what music is for, enjoying. You listen to it and you get enjoyment out of the bits you like. You talk to other people who enjoy it too, and it's lots of fun. It's exciting to be a fan of something and celebrate that with other fans. That isn't "refusing the suggestion that Green Day has faults" - it's just being positive and celebrating all the many good things about band, instead of putting a dampner on things by being negative and trying to find fault at every opportunity.
Nmd Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I know what you mean. I know they have faults and aren't perfect. The only thing I would argue tooth and nail over would be somebody refuting the fact that they hands down, put on an amazing show live!!!!!!! If anyone disagrees with that, I have to prove them wrong. Other than that, everyone's entitled to their own opinions. The reason I love them so much, is because I love most of all of their music, and their shows are unbelievable. Also, I get a kick out of watching their interviews and stuff cause they usually give me a laugh, and they seem to care about their fans to an extent. Edit: just realized the merger lol I love the music because of the lyrics. I am able to relate to so many songs in such a strong, personal way. BOBD made me really get into the band and when I heard that song, it showed me that I wasn't alone in the way I was feeling. I like Billie's voice because it sounds different. When he's singing, you freaking know it even if you're not a big fan of the band. Something I don't like about the band: they're all too short
1039slappygirl Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 I'll add you as a friend just because I found some awesome threads creted by you today And well, since I listen to Green Day that I think they have amazing lyrics. Individuality, the world crisis, and not only the recent lyrics, but the oldest too. The teenage love, the teenage frustration and frightment of growing up, the apathy, the rage, everything Billie Joe sings makes sense to me. Also, I love their melodies, like East Jesus Nowhere's guitar solo, Holiday's drums and Longview's bass. If I'm sad, excited, angry, happy, in love, scared, nostalgic, apathic or I just want to kill somebody, there's always a Green Day song there for me
