What are things about Green Day that you don't like?

I honestly feel like Tre's an asshole a lot of times. I always got the impression he was kind of rude to fans, and I feel like this in a lot of interviews/public appearances the band does.

I'm still disappointed with Billie for the DUI.

I agree... Everyone's always like TRE'S SO FUNNY OMG!!! and while he can be, at times it seems quite dickish and immature. It just bothers me. And yeah obviously DUIs are never cool.

also, I am not a fan of all the floor humping and peewee-nis grabbing that Billie does on stage

and sometimes I also get kinda irked after he brings up a child for EJN and then when he sends them away saying "get the fuck off my stage!" or something like that

I know he swears at concerts, and that children do attend, but still....

I really think the humping is old, and I'm SO glad he stopped masturbating to Hitchin' a Ride.

Again, this deals with immaturity, and I don't like it.

watch me get crucified:

i hate the twitter updates. okay, not the updates themselves. i just hate how it because the new coolest thing to say. "it's ho as hell." i did not laugh when i read this. not the first time, not the four hundredth time. i will never think that's funny. and the whole "it's fuck time" thing--fuck it. it is a grammatically whack sentence that annoys me so so so much.

Again, immaturity/stupidity. I will admit that at first I thought "its as ho as hell" was pretty funny, but it got old. Fast. As for It's Fuck Time, meh. I have never been too huge into FBHT. I've heard the song once or twice, found it slightly amusing at the time, but now it's just annoying how everyone references it about every two seconds. We get it "LOL SEX" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Sew funni.

/bitch post that will also get me crucified

wait, whut. Billie's weight has been fluctuating since late insomniac/early nimrod. don't worry, he'll put it all back on

 I was talking about Tre...

That's true. That's kind of why I've stopped following the tour forum so extensively, because I get sad when I see them perform songs at another show/a longer setlist than when I saw them. It's a catch-22...you either have people pissed because they only play certain songs once in a blue moon rather than regularly, and then you get the complaints that the setlist is too basic. I understand both complaints, by the way.

I think people can get somewhat Star Trek Convention-ish about, like, trophy songs - on the other hand, I fucking love it that people care so much about songs. I think you can get into a fan thing of getting hung up on set-lists, and forget how amazing the 'regular' songs are - jeez, when I heard 'She' at the Bowery Ballroom, it just went straight to the place of the first time that I heard it.

There's nothing about Green Day that really gets me mad. I know they're not perfect, I know they're not gods, but I love their music and I'm always going to be grateful for that

I'm almost feeling judged by them for having one. Like, did I miss something, why is it any worse than Twitter?

I agree that Tre is a real dick sometimes. Sure, he can be funny, but a lot of the shit that he says and does makes me think "wait...what made you think that was okay?"

I remember reading an article that was written in either the Dookie or Nimrod era, where Tre put two Japanese fighting fish in a bowl with each other, and I think one ended up killing the other? He might have revived it, but either way, I was just absolutely disgusted.

The only member I can still say that I really like as a person is Mike.

I'm probably biased cause I was at both shows so I can't really talk, but I just think we should leave their setlists alone. They can really play whatever they want, and whether we think its fair or not, some people never got to see them at all on the tour. I mentioned that Paris was a pretty average setlist somewhere and people were all "OMG NO IT WASN'T! IT WAS AMAZING!"

I think its a matter of opinion, and definitely perspective. If we look back to past tours, they weren't playing like When Its Time or Nice Guys Finish Last or Waiting or...I've forgotten what they played in Paris, but in comparison to what they played in Australia or somewhere last year, it was an amazing set.

Mainz and Prague were just off their nut. But they can't play shows that are that varied EVERY night.

I know what you're getting at, dont get me wrong  Everytime I see a Paris video I still completely spazz out, and it was an amazing show and I wouldnt have missed it for anything :P It's just that I've seen them 3 times now and only heard three new songs. I just find it sort of annoying.

I don't like BJ always being the one who talks in interviews and stuff, and Mike and Tre just sitting there and looking pretty. Or they don't even get invited to the interview because everyone seems to be interested in Billie alone. That's annoying because yes, BJ writes the lyrics and yes, he's the frontman, but no, he's not the only band member that matters.

But that's it, really. They're not perfect but their music is pretty close to perfect, and that's the main thing after all.

There is nothing I can say I dislike about them, but I totally think 21CB was a flop, like seriously, I bet people in Australia don't even know that EJN was release, or 21CB (the song) as a matter of fact. And I don't like that Mike and Tre get almost know attention, like, I can go up to someone and say Mike Dirnt is one AWESOME bassist, and they could go, "who the fuck is Mike Dirnt?"

One thing, that I personally hate, is that they only say one night in most cities when they come to Aus' for their tour... it really bugs me

The only thing I don't like in Green Day is that they have never come to Greece :( :( :(

Posted

I was waiting for someone to mention this. The greater portion of Green Day fans (or as you so neatly put it "teenie fans") don't have much to do with Green Day themselves, except for the fact that Green Day had become a "cool" band to like in the American Idiot days.

Exactly, I don't have anything else to whine about in this matter xD

Mike sung out of key during American Eulogy at my first Green Day gig.

well it does bug me sometimes that they try to please everyone nowadays. I remember reading some letter to a mother that complained about the music where billie said to fuck off and that he writes music for nobody but himself. That attitude seems more green day to me than the more mainstream green day of now a days

well,he's actually rite music for WARNER BROS and stuff ;)

Yes, their grammar makes me cringe often.

There's probably more, but those are the two most common things I dislike.

what about peeing on his suitcase and closet? :D

oooh. oooh.

this is more to do with the fans: but everyone who says billie or tre are the sexiest things ever? i go "lol whut." sure, they're cute. but at the end of the day, i can't say that either of them are zomghawt. billie reminds me of a bobblehead who is in serious need of some braces, and tre--well someone had an avatar that was a chicken with tre's face on it. which is pretty much what i think of tre xD

i feel like such a dick

Today I was thinking about it, and I haven't listened to 21st Century Breakdown all the way through since the month it came out. I'm not a huge fan it of anymore.

I hope they go back to their rooooooots

Thing is, if they "went back to their roots", people would be like "OMG POSERS TRYNA BE PUNK!!1", and if they do a concept album others would be like "OMG IT'S SO SHIT, THEY NEED TO GO BACK TO THEIR ROOTS!"

One thing, that I personally hate, is that they only say one night in most cities when they come to Aus' for their tour... it really bugs me

They only played one night in Glasgow (and in the whole of Scotland)... Australia got five shows, so yeah.

But anyway... I think they tried to play two nights in Glasgow but it was too close to their Irish shows, but I do wish they'd play Glasgow twice or another city in Scotland (Edinburgh or Aberdeen... Or both :woot:)

They play songs I would kill to hear live at shows I DID NOT attend :P

Nah, but that's just my bad luck really

Hahahaha....this made me LOL although I don't agree 100%. Those guys aren't pretty in the traditional sense, but you know how it is when the not-cutest-guy-you-know is still the one everyone wants to be with because he is funny and charismatic and slightly dangerous? That's the attraction for a lot of people, I think. Well, that and that rock star thing.

It often crosses my mind that this is one of those internet things - like, pre-internet, if you went to see a band, your only perspective would be the show they played that nite - your show. You wouldn't have any consciousness of the one they played in the previous city, or the next city - your whole focus would be on the experience you had, no comparisons. Believe it or not, there are still people who have that same vibe, because they're not checking out every single show online. Sometimes I see stuff in the tour threads here where people are ecstatic after their show, only to feel somehow cheated if there's a 'superior' setlist at the next show - I think it's a little bit sad.

Brilliant. I often avoid reading the concert threads for this very reason.

the fact that they dont like Facebook ... :ermm:

Yeah, this bothers me too. It can be a great tool for keeping in touch with people. Not all of us are sitting hunched over our computers all day, pale from lack of sunlight and following every move of our virtual friends on line. I've found it to be great for getting back in touch with old friends from high school and college and old coworkers. Also an excellent way to keep up with my GD friends - I could never talk to them all on the phone on a daily basis.

Certainly there are bad things about it - stalkers, bullying, people pretending to be someone else...god knows there are enough fake profiles out there for all three of them. And maybe all that shit is enough for Billie Joe to stay far far away. I guess I would. But I don't think I would judge anyone who found it useful and enjoyable.

I don't like that they get overplayed on the radios and on TV when their singles come out and I don't like that Mike and Tré don't get to talk that much as Billie in the interviews. Other than that, I like everything about Green Day. :)

I couldn't agree with you more.

People ask me about setlists from the AI era and I honestly have no clue. and I know at my show I had no clue if the set was the same as any others either because I was spending so much time on the internet reading about the shows.

I still don't really do that to be honest - I know the set off by heart now because I've seen them so many times on this tour, but last year I didn't really pay that much attention.

It is really sad when people discredited the shows that meant so much to them, until they see that somewhere else heard a rarer song or whatever. I love the innocence of young kids at shows that don't really know what to expect and don't realize that they're getting the "standard". They just get so into it and they love every moment and yeah, stupid internet :P

Not to mention all the 13 year old girls screaming "oh meh gaw, billy jo is so hawt i luv him so much! i don't care bout the other onez!!"

The thing that cracks my wife and me up is that Billie's got one tween and one teen of his own. I'm sure Jakob & Joey are used to it by now, but could you imagine at Bowery Electric a few months ago, Joey's band is *opening* for FBHT and then later, Dad's hanging from the ceiling pipes, chugging the PBR, hips gyrating, screaming "oh baby baby it's f**k time!!" with all the 20somethings in the audience feeling him up while his son is right there in the room with him? What does Joey do if someone asks what he thinks -- just shrug and say "yup, that's my pa...."??

You know who got fucked from this tour? The Italians! They didn't even get their show because Mother Nature is a heinous bitch and that comment doesn't really apply to the band.

I've said what I've disliked about the guys already so.... Nobody's perfect.

@Bastard: Joey left before all that happened. Thank God he was only able to find out through Youtube.

im not a fan of the broadway adaption or the cast album

also when playing live they tend to focus more on the fans in the pit at the very front, unless that was jsut at wembly, if it is every gig then sorry but some of us have jobs that we have to hold and cant stay outside the venue for 3 days straight
