What are things about Green Day that you don't like?

That's nothing compared to that 18 year old guy who was shouting hysterically and was nearly crying when Hayley came on stage. The rest of the show he was humping the girl in front of him to death because he wanted to touch her or whatever. He was the most ridiculous fan I've seen in my life.

Wtf she's not that hot..

But wasn't there a quote that Mike said back in the Rolling Stone interview from last year, I thought it went something like this, "Billie's the president and we are the cabinent...." I can't remember exactly.

Oh no, it was 'We are a democracy with an elected leader'. As much as I'd like Tre and Mike to talk more I'm pretty sure they've worked it out between them that Billie would answer most of the questions.

Thanks, but somewhere inside I just want to like all of their music. That's why I like them and I want to like it all. I just do.

Yeah, I can understand that. It just makes me kind of sad sometimes when people think they're a bad fan for not liking one or a few things the band does. But it's not your fault if you don't like an album. Although I can understand why you want to like all of it.

ahahahaha. Sad thing is, that would probably be me.

Well, not really. Humping's a bit much

Most of their merch is ugly and it always has been.

Green Day's merch is awesome compared to like every other band out there.

You wanna look at shitty merch, look at Paramore's

TAKE IT BACK!

Oh, thanks!

They probably think that since he wrote the songs that he'd know what to say better than they would.

I would love to hear them talk more anyways.

Someone mentioned the choice of support acts, personally out of all of them I liked Joan Jett and Frank Turner.

But Paramore... even though I've never liked them, I actually had high expections of them and thought I'd enjoy their set, I mean with them being such a mainstream band, and with all their success and stuff I thought they'd be good live, but I'm suprised I didn't fall asleep, their performance was so boring and over-rehearsed...

But yeah, anyway... I wish the range of merch was better, I mean don't get me wrong there is some cool stuff but like

1) There's barely any pre 21st Century Breakdown merch nevermind American Idiot

2) I've looked on all the official merch sites and there's barely anything that you wouldn't get at the gigs, I just think there should be a wider range, and definitely more merch from previous albums.

Lastly, I think it'd be cool if they played more 'secret' (smaller) shows, like throughout the UK... Both Green Day and FBHT shows.

... And out of all that I haven't actually came up with anything that I don't like about them , oh well.

Just that I think they should do more with Foxboro Hottubs. It's kind of unfair that only certain people in a select few places can see a Hottubs show.

Well, I've seen pics of myself the moment Green Day comes on stage and... I get more than just a little bit excited. That guy was too much though, he kept dissing Green Day through Paramores performance, too...

I like the older merch, like from the Dookie era or even Kerplunk, and some of the American Idiot merch was good, but the 21st Century Breakdown merch is ugly as hell.

I've also realized that I skip most of the 21st Century Breakdown songs on my iPod. To me it seems like the album (while it's good and all) was overproduced and it seems like they tried to shove every instrument they could into the songs. They need Cavallo back imo.

And I too, am on Team Bassline. Mike can have some pretty sick basslines going if he gets the chance to.

I really think with the Billie talking more in interviews thing........that's how it should be. If they're asking questions about the songs, then well, Billie wrote them! So he's going to answer questions about them. Mike and Tre get more recognition and time to speak in interviews than the bassists and drummers in any other band I can think of. Who would even recognise the drummer of Oasis or the bassist of Coldplay?

I think Green Day have it good in terms of them all having a voice in interviews. But of course the lead singer and songwriter is going to have more to contribute. I think they all seem perfectly comfortable with that.

Okay well that's just uncool. I hate when Paramore fans do shit like that. Just gives the sane ones a bad image =/

Need I bring up the Fuse Best Of '09 poll? Although there were some Green Day fans who were dicks too.

I think it's pretty much the same for Green Day though. Everybody knows Billie Joe, Tre.. well maybe 'cause he's "That guy who does crazy shit all the time." but most of the time I need to call them "the bassist" or "the drummer".

Don't worry, I've got nothing against sane Paramore fans. I actually enjoyed a few of their songs. :D

lol oh god. No thank you. I think we can all agree that pretty much everyone was being a dick during that. And I should mention that I voted literally thousands of times for Green Day. Honestly I'm so pissed that Green Day lost, due to the fact that like ALL of our votes were going to the first round. What a load of crap. And then Paramore didn't even make it past the next round, so what a waste. There's one weekend of my life that I'll never get back.

Yay! :)

I loved Prima Donna and Joan Jett when I saw them open. I endured paramore with a 12 year old screaming 'I love you josh!' in my ear-not the greatest experience of my life-but they were alright I guess.

I wish Joan Jett was opening for Virginia :( We got AFI.. I don't even know if I know any of their songs.

Okay, this is my last post in here because this thread is addictive

Oh here's a good one!

I HATE all the bands they bring on tour with them now... HATE.

First three times I saw GD it was with Pansy Division, The High Fives, and The Living End.

I absolutely hate all of the bands that open for Green Day now.

Yeah, I really didnt like Paramore. In all fairness, I didnt listen to Billy Talent  But a lot of people are taken in by Frank Turner, so i guess that's something!

And I don't like how they only play ONE show in the Netherlands when they come here on tour, while they play like 5 shows in the UK and Germany. Setlists could also be more.. I don't know how to say it, y'know, made so that no matter what show you go to, there's always gonna be like 1 or 2 rare songs. Now I feel they played standard setlists at the beginning of the European summer tour for exemple, and suddenly played a lot of rare songs at one of the lasts shows. And now they're mixing the setlists up with the American summer tour. I wish they thought of doing that earlier and did that during the European tour as well!

Yeah. At some of their bigger shows in Europe i.e. PARIS where a lot of fans travelled a pretty big distance just to see them live (ME), they played a pretty standard festival setlist. Yet, a week later in Mainz, they had this amazing rare setlist. It's not fair, really. I know I shouldnt complain... because Paris was good. But it really pissed me off

yeah, you have a point there. At least they actually get on camera, most bands split over interviews from what I can see.

Have you listened to some of the basslines on 21CB? When I first heard it I was like "where is Mike?!" then all of a sudden this massive bass solo came through and my brain exploded into a puddle of happy.

Seriously, don't know how you can skip those songs...

I love Joooooaaaaan. She's so good. I miss her.

But AFI are incredible too, I am so jealous of all you people in the states. Enjoy the show they put on because they are so good live!

I'm probably biased cause I was at both shows so I can't really talk, but I just think we should leave their setlists alone. They can really play whatever they want, and whether we think its fair or not, some people never got to see them at all on the tour. I mentioned that Paris was a pretty average setlist somewhere and people were all "OMG NO IT WASN'T! IT WAS AMAZING!"

I think its a matter of opinion, and definitely perspective. If we look back to past tours, they weren't playing like When Its Time or Nice Guys Finish Last or Waiting or...I've forgotten what they played in Paris, but in comparison to what they played in Australia or somewhere last year, it was an amazing set.

Mainz and Prague were just off their nut. But they can't play shows that are that varied EVERY night.

I feel like I just came in here and defended them on everything haha

I hate Tre's hair.

^my negative contribution to the conversation.

when they kiss each other

Hey now!

Let's not diss one of the loveliest sights in the world...

This is what I hate. Not Green Day themselves but Green Day fans who make threads like this. Makes people like me (people who love them no matter what they do) feel depressed when people put down the band in any way.

music: the fact that they another conceptual album after AI, it's a great album, but they should've done something different.

image: the eyeliner, well.. they look good on it, but I dont think they need it, and also their clothes seem to have gotten serious, before, they used to wear the same clothes when they were off or on stage.

small things that dont really matter

I get what you mean, but what people are getting at is realistically, these people aren't perfect. They're not putting the band down (and if they do, they can GTFO) but are just pointing out some things they don't like about these people/flaws that they have, that we love them in spite of. Its unfair to imply that we don't all love them no matter what. Clearly we do if we're posting on GDC.

Is there something wrong with one man kissing another?

Any band is gonna have some flaws in someones eyes, depending on the person...even if you like a band it doesnt mean you have to praise or be satisfied with their every desicion/action, etc.

The only thing I dont like is how they swear (using fuck or shit) in most of their singles. Sounds cheesy, but it causes problems, like if I'm in the car with my parents and Green Day is on the radio, and Billie Joe sings "I'm so fuckin happy I could cry" i have to say something loud to block it out or something. Its fine in some cases depending on the song but some songs, preferably singles, dont need swears. Ssee BOBD/Geek Stink Breath/Stuck With Me/Nice Guys Finish Last. Some songs like Minority are ok because it gets the message across, but other times it isn't necessary. And no, the songs aren't censored on the stations I listen to. So there ARE exceptions to my point.

That's part of why they do it, to confront people who are uncomfortable with it. Good on them :)

I agree that it can put a downer on things. And it can also put people off being enthusiastic about their love for the band and make them self-concious about it, which is why I don't really like these threads either. But as long as it's being done in a light hearted way I can put up with it.
