What are things about Green Day that you don't like?

Good thread! I'm sure there are a few things I could add. Right now I will say that I think it sucked that they completely ignored large parts of the country for both rounds of the 21CB US tour. And I know I shouldn't whine - there are some countries out there that they never go to. And I managed to see them a lot by traveling. But when the AI tour brought them to all four major-ish cities in Ohio, but they didn't come here at all during this tour, it's just weird.

if they would just fucking tour with Alkaline Trio.....

oh yes

MCR was a bad choice

I had to see them with New Found Glory, which is utterly the worst band I have ever had to watch live, I mean, they REALLY fucking sucked. The last tour I had to sit through 45 minutes of Franz Ferdinand. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

hahah oh lord. At the time, I regretted not seeing them with MCR.

Now, I'm extremely glad I didn't. Although I didn't particularly enjoy Against Me!...

Really? Were you (or are you) into Against Me to began with? I have seen AM more times than I can remember, and while their more current shows are NOWHERE near as good as the old, I have always felt they put on a great performance. I never knew how well they would hold up in a stadium setting though. What was it you didn't like?

OH, OH SPEAKING OF NOT COMING TO LARGE AREAS OF THE COUNTRY TO TOUR

FOXBORO HOT TUBS

MHM YEAH YOU COME UP HERE NOW

NOW DAMNIT

There's nothing that comes to mind.

Maybe they should let Tre and Mike say more during interviews though, instead of Billie talking pretty much the whole time. They might be fine with that, I don't know, but most of the time they're just sitting there, hearing what Billie Joe has to say. I'd rather hear all of them giving weird answers, making jokes, and laughing about those than hear just Billie giving the very long but also interesting answers. If the questions are really only for Billie to be answered, let it be a 'Billie Joe interview' and do not let Mike and Tre just sit there

And I don't like how they only play ONE show in the Netherlands when they come here on tour, while they play like 5 shows in the UK and Germany. Setlists could also be more.. I don't know how to say it, y'know, made so that no matter what show you go to, there's always gonna be like 1 or 2 rare songs. Now I feel they played standard setlists at the beginning of the European summer tour for exemple, and suddenly played a lot of rare songs at one of the lasts shows. And now they're mixing the setlists up with the American summer tour. I wish they thought of doing that earlier and did that during the European tour as well!

.. About the music. I just love everything

I quite liked Franz Ferdinand as an opener. :)

haha I saw Franz with Death Cab for Cutie

needless to say Franz was the better of the two

I don't know why I went to that show anyway...

I'd just love to see them take some smaller bands out with them, like it used to be in the old days :(

about them personally, i couldn't think of anything. and as musicians, there's only one song that i just really can't stand from them (but one out of like all their songs isn't too shabby at all.)

I don't particularly like that Billie gets the majority of the attention. Tre' and Mike should get more attention, as it's not all just about Billie. But that's really it for me.

It's just me... I CANNOT stand that sort of music. It irritates the hell out of me.

I saw them with Jimmy Eat World and Kaiser Chiefs

JEW- ok because I actually liked 3 of their songs at the time

Kaiser- LOL, put me to sleep

I saw them with JEW as well. They were okay. Certainly nothing stellar.

Well at the time, I had never even heard Against Me! I guess it was mostly a combination of that and that I just didn't like that style of music overall. I mean, even though I had never heard of them before, if they had the right style of music, I would have at least semi-enjoyed the performance. And from what I can remember, their performance was just kind of shitty overall. I'm not sure if it was just that show, or that's just how the lead singer sings live. I know his voice is quite rough (not bad just...you know) on the records so.

I loved Prima Donna and Joan Jett when I saw them open. I endured paramore with a 12 year old screaming 'I love you josh!' in my ear-not the greatest experience of my life-but they were alright I guess.

ahahahahah I'm so sorry.

I hate 21st Century Breakdown. There's maybe one or two songs on the album that I can tolerate, but I can't stand almost the whole thing. I feel like they just tried way too hard to recreate American Idiot and failed. It's just not as good as any of their other music. Maybe it was the change in producer or something, but the album is just unpleasant to listen to.

This probably makes me a bad fan, but I agree. There are only a few songs I'll listen to either in the car or on my ipod. The rest I ignore completely. How sad a statement for a whole album.

I could see that, if you weren't a fan before. I started listening to them back in the early days, so now more than ever am I thinking "this is the band that I LOVED years before they got signed???" I think their sounds has changed, but it's not a completely bad change. I don't too much care for the new album, but I would still listen to them over 90% of what else I hear on the radio these days.

Best AM! show ever was in a tiny little co-op run book/art store. 500 sweaty (some naked) punks crammed into a building built for 300....... There was no stage, everything was ground level. The band played in the middle, with people all around. Great fucking time that was.

They're a tad hypocritical at times.

I apologize for going way off topic... Don't wanna piss off Maddy :whistle

Not liking one album very much doesn't make you a bad fan! It makes me sad when people think those types of things =/

Oh here's a good one!

I HATE all the bands they bring on tour with them now... HATE.

First three times I saw GD it was with Pansy Division, The High Fives, and The Living End.

I absolutely hate all of the bands that open for Green Day now.

I saw them with The Bravery. I didn't like the Bravery that much at all, I thought they were a bit boring.

I agree with it being all Billie. I feel bad for Mike and Tre in those interviews where they just sit there and do nothing while Billie does all the talking.

I remember one specific interview. Live 8 back in AI era, the interviewer completely ignored Mike and Tre, you could tell they were pissed.

But wasn't there a quote that Mike said back in the Rolling Stone interview from last year, I thought it went something like this, "Billie's the president and we are the cabinent...." I can't remember exactly.

That's nothing compared to that 18 year old guy who was shouting hysterically and was nearly crying when Hayley came on stage. The rest of the show he was humping the girl in front of him to death because he wanted to touch her or whatever. He was the most ridiculous fan I've seen in my life.

Really? I never heard about that quote..

Lol this isn't proper Green day green day but guys, please, if you do a sideproject, you wouldn't mind doing a few more shows?

I mean, how many shows did the Network do? And there's been a few tubbie shows, but not that many.. (Yeah, I am saying this cause I'm jealous of not being able to go to one =P)

Oh, and yeah. Setlists. Why mix it up for some shows and not for others? :sherlock:

I'm being a bit bitchy, but yeah ...

Most of their merch is ugly and it always has been.

Thanks, but somewhere inside I just want to like all of their music. That's why I like them and I want to like it all. I just do.
