What are things about Green Day that you don't like?

This! I love Mike's voice and the fact that he and Billie would sing songs together for the first two albums. Now Billie's doing all the singing and Mike the oooh's and ahhh's in the background. =/

And the bass-in-the-backgound thing also annoys me. The bass sound at some of the concerts was SO amazing! When you listen to the album it's barely there and if you can hear it clearly it's stuff like Last of the American Girls which is really simple. Come on Mike, we know that you can play, show it!

I remember something someone on here said a few years back:

"'Where have all the bastards gone'? It should be 'where have all the basslines gone'!"

THE FACT THAT IT'S ALL BILLIE BILLIE BILLIE

THE INTERVIEWS, THE PHOTOS, EVERYTHINGGG! D: D: D:

As much as I love him, but y'know.

And their shows could do with being less predictable.

I just want to hug the person that started the thread and the people that have said more Mike, snotty little shits when they were younger (it's hard to defend some of their earlier interviews and the odd video on Youtube) and concerts been AMAZING but not as varied/sponteneous as they could be. Also, I sometimes find them a bit...overstated (possibly for want of a better word). Admittedly, I haven't seen it, but the musical looks a bit over the top and 21CB was overproduced and a bit preachy.

^^^ Sh*t that's good. :)

i definately think that Mike and Tre should get more mic time! That's the only thing really. Oh and i don't like the waits in between albums! I mean...5 years was a bit ridiculous! Otherwise i love Green Day :)

Disagree WRT the musical. You have to see it to appreciate it, but it was done brilliantly IMO.

Another thing that annoys me is the lack of variety in their shows. Okay, they play a few different oldies songs but to be quite motherfucking honest, I don't care. During the concert in Ahoy, Rotterdam, I could predict what they were going to do almost down to the word. After Bullet In A Bible, you'd think they'd change their antics. All the shows are, are BIAB + a few songs from the new album. The kids on stage thing is pretty cool, I must admit. But the rest has completely lost its novelty. Granted, it must be hard for them to think up a whole new show and a lot of people are happy with it. And the shows are quite good. But it's all a bit old hat.

There are a few more but this post is big enough as it is.

This is pretty much what I was getting at.

That's a fantastic quote!

Think about Stuck With Me, a really amazing bassline and simple guitar riff.. sounds awesome! Now it's a long ass solo and too simple bassline. =/ I mean the first time I was listening to East Jesus Nowhere I was like "Another solo? ". I really hope this will change with the new album.

Probably the fact that Billie will always answer 99% of the questions in an interview.

There's probably more that I can't think of...

THEIR GARDENING TIPS ARE AWESOME  Because of that I now know what sprinkler system not to get! Hmphe5007636.png

Exactly. And I now know not to jack off a cactus.

the teenie fans

I was waiting for someone to mention this. The greater portion of Green Day fans (or as you so neatly put it "teenie fans") don't have much to do with Green Day themselves, except for the fact that Green Day had become a "cool" band to like in the American Idiot days.

Ohhh, and their videos for this album. Actually, any album that wasnt AI. Bring Back Bayer.

So all of the videos prior to AI sucked??? What the fuck are you talking about?

Yeah, the musical is awesome. Although, I can see the point of view where it's like "lol, really?" I'll admit that at a few moments when I was watching it, I kind of chuckled to myself at some of the things that were happening on stage. I mean, I know it's a musical and all, and it's gonna be a little "out there" and over-the-top, but to be honest, most of the choreography is completely ridiculous/non-existent. Regardless, I still loved it.

OH YEAH, SO...

The concerts. I mean, they're great! Good show! HOWEVER...

it seems to me like they're mainly trying to target the people who just happen to see GD will be in town and buy tickets last minute. People who aren't the biggest fans. People who are only going to see one show and don't look at the setlists or videos online.

If you're one of those people, it's great. but if you're like me and look at songs they play on GDC... it's not a surprise when your show is almost the same as other people's shows. and also, seeing more than one show... almost all the same.

Now, I think they used to be more spontaneous because they didn't have lights and pyro. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome. but I just feel it's one of those things that's for people who are only gonna see it once. They can't make their setlist as they go along because they have tons of people working for light cues and pyro cues and stuff.

I'm not saying they don't have a great show. It really is. I just think it's a bit over-produced. but that's what you get when you play large stadiums. Most people there aren't hardcore fans and only wanna hear the singles.

I don't thing there is a thing I don't like about Green Day (At least right now...)

Yeah, I'm not really like 'EW HES SO GROSSBSHAHANAB' I know it's quite easy to put on weight but really hard to get off and I'm really glad that he has started to lose some weight.

wait, whut. Billie's weight has been fluctuating since late insomniac/early nimrod. don't worry, he'll put it all back on

@I like this thread, it's cool to read the responses. Hopefully no one gets all ho headed and starts an

This made me laugh. "Ho headed"

I don't think there is anything that particularly bothers me about Green Day, I love the music, the image isn't something that is really terribly important to me, and I love that they're still immature and fun-loving after all the years!

The only thing I can really criticise are the "fans" that acknowledge Billie Joe alone, and forget about Mike and Tre. Or worse still, the magazines (that shall remain nameless) that mixed the two up. But that's not really a complaint about the band per se!

What can I say? I LOVE Green Day!!!!

So all of the videos prior to AI sucked??? What the fuck are you talking about?

Well, not all. Some. I mean, the AI videos captured their personalities, for me, so much better than, say, Nice Guys Finish Last. If the AI video hadnt been the first thing I'd heard about them I dont think many other of their videos would have won me over. Im not saying they sucked. They just werent as good. Jus' sayn.

No, this is a good thread  Im interested in reading the responses.
