What are things about Green Day that you don't like?

this isn't really about green day it's about fbht

i don't like billie being drunk and throwing himself on everybody and doing crazy things =\ (except when he was upside down xD )

sorry fbht fans

He's not hurting himself or anybody else by doing that though, aside from probably having a bad hangover the next day. He gets drunk and acts silly and crowdsurfs but he isn't out of control. He still performs all the songs and puts on an amazing show just fine. It might sound bad from some of the descriptions you hear but really those shows are just incredibly happy, friendly and fun, everyone has a perfectly safe time :)

Watching him at a Foxboro show is really quite sweet . He was so happy enjoying the music, dancing around, talking in 60s slang, having a laugh with his bandmates and gleefully pouring beer on the crowd. There was nothing about his behaviour to dislike or feel uneasy about, it was just purely enjoyable.

I can't believe there's a thread like this on a Green Day fan site. Green Day loves their fans.

They have always been super nice to their fans even when they are tired & may not feel like

signing autographs & taking pictures with us fans, but they do. They go out of their way

to let us fans know how much they appreciate us. I have never heard them tell us fans what they

don't like about us, & I'm sure that some fans get on their nerves but they always act gracious

even when some fans over step certain boundaries. I myself just don't feel right discussing negative

things about Green Day. I am thankful for them and all that they do. Green Day are only human just

like the rest of us and no one is perfect. We all have our moments and make mistakes. I just don't think

it's fair to rub it in their face, even if it's all in fun. Green Day has always been good to their fans and they

have given us so much. They have helped me with their music so much in my life. When I met Billie Joe

and got to talk with him for a while. I found him to be a down to earth cool person. He was so nice he didn't

rush off he took his time and talked with me and seemed very interested in what I had to say. He didn't act like

he was too famous to be bothered with me. He was an amazing person. I have never met Tre' or Mike but I am

sure they are just as nice as Billie. As much as we'd all like to think they are some kind of gods, their not

they are human just like the rest of us and they are not perfect. Green Day has given all of us so much and

never asked us for anything. I love Green Day for everything that they are.

I completely agree. What's the point of having this thread?.. Just to have over 20 pages of complaining and negative energy directed to a band 100 percent dedicated to their fans and their music on a fan forum for that band?.. hmm, something about that just doesn't make much sense to me.

Way too less bass lines like No One Knows, Longview or [insert song]. Mike is a really good bass player, but he either doesn't want to show it, or their more recent music doesn't allow Mike to fit in there. That's maybe the only thing I don't like about Green Day.

I guess that's because Billie Joe writes the songs now?

Anyway, I would like to add something to what I posted before. Billie can be such a jerk sometimes. When he says things like he can't wait for Steve Jobs to die of cancer, I really hate him. It's a fucking rude insult to everyone trying to fight cancer.

Because this part of the forum is dedicated to the discussion of the band, the key word there being "Discussion". I consider the better fans of a band are the ones who realize what they dislike about them, because everyone has something they don't like about every band.

I agree with this, you need to take a long hard look at yourself if you like and agree with absolutely everything they do. To me, you've missed the point of a lot of their music if you just go along with everything.

Personally I wish they played Having A Blast live. A lot of the record company promotion stuff is irritating, like I think most of their videos are pretty forgettable (Basket Case is classic though) and especially post-American Idiot their single choices and videos portray them as a completely different band. I think the essence of a band is albums and live shows. And Green Day's essence is great, they write great albums and they play great live shows. That's all that matters, so I don't care too much about the singles other than I think it puts people off listening to them when they hear stuff like 21 Guns or Know Your Enemy being released as singles.

i love green day to the end

but i hate how i get made fun of for liking them

and also the bad promoting they did for 21st breakdown

so am I weird for saying that I like everything about them? :o

-i miss their shenanigans during interviews and whatnot way back in the day....

Lots of shenanigans going on in this videos. Tbh, i think Green Day knows when it's time to do a joke and when to answer just honestly. It goes on my nerves when some bands just can't be serious one time but have to show everyone how funny they are. I agree, back during the AI era I had the feeling they were sometimes taking themselves too serious, but not anymore. And if they were doing the same jokes they did when they were around 24... oh dear.

hmm the only thing that i dislike is that i have never met them before. or listened to them in concert!!! i demand that they come to my house and sing to me. :( other than that Green Day is pretty much perfect :D

Um...I don't like blonde Billie Joe or Mike. That is all.

(I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this, and let me just say that I fucking adore Billie Joe more than you can possibly imagine, so don't call he a hater for saying this.)

I hate how Billie is the center of attention. Billie Joe is not Green Day. Billie Joe, Mike, and Tre are Green Day. In interviews, Billie is usually the one to answer questions. While it's true that Billie writes most of the songs, that doesn't mean that Mike and Tre don't have anything to say. I'd like more input from the other two. One or two comments from Mike, a joke from Tre, and almost a full conversation with Billie just doesn't cut it for me. It's supposed to be a Green Day interview, not a Billie Joe interview.

Onto live shows...these aren't anything major, but they still kind of bug me. Whenever Billie takes a hat or other accessory from a fan, he doesn't give it back. I know it would be too much trouble to give it back to the exact person, but it also wouldn't be much trouble to throw it back in the area where the fan was. Honestly, I would be pissed if I had lost a hat or something that the Billie Joe Armstrong had worn. And for Knowledge, Billie Joe picks all of the musicians. Yeah, he does a good job, but it would make more sense for Mike and Tre to pick the people who are going to be taking their role and playing their instruments.

Again, don't call me a hater. If you honestly think that I hate Billie, or Green Day in general, then you're a fucking dumbass. There's nothing wrong with disliking a few things about someone or something.

Billie doesn't "take" things from fans, they choose to give them to him. If you choose to throw him a gift don't expect to get it back! If you spend a couple of quid on a cheap novelty item and throw it to Billie your reward is getting to see him wear it. After that it's his gift to do what he wants with - if it ends up getting thrown to someone else then two people in the crowd get a cool experience instead of one :)

Also when Billie gets thrown something that obviously isn't just a cheap item bought for him/the show (like someone's proper hat or scarf or something) he does make the effort to try to get it back to the right person. I've seen him do it.

As for Mike and Tre picking people there's a practical reason for them not doing it - they're playing their instruments! While Billie's looking for people in the crowd the rhythm section of the band (drums and bass), keeps the beat going in the background. The guitar can stop no problem but they need the rhythm section to keep the music going during the interludes in songs. Otherwise it'd just be an awkward silence with no beat to keep the crowd going.

I hate it when tre is all sunburned and no-eyeliner and icky. (like the golf tournament?)

I needed to get that out

He gives lots of things back, like sunglasses and stuff. I think he throws hats cause they look cool when they're thrown and won't hurt anyone :P

That being said, I actually got my hat back! :)

What I don't like is the exaggerated rants he sometimes do on stage.

Yeah exactly he does try. But he's not gonna stop the whole flow of the show over some comedy sunglasses lol. He's spontaneous and entertaining with the items he gets thrown, if he started worrying about them too much he'd just end up accepting less items from the crowd in the first place.

I agree with you in that I wish we got to hear from Mike and Tre more, but I hate when people (not you, just people in general) act like Mike and Tre are being wronged just because they're not the center of attention. It's not like they don't realize that most of the focus is on Billie Joe, but I imagine the band themselves wanted it that way. Sure, sometimes the interviewer is to blame when they only ask questions directed to Billie, but I think for the most part Mike and Tre are happy to sit back and let him be the leader of the band. So yeah, I wish they spoke more, but I imagine it's easier to conduct an interview when it's primarily one person speaking.

HAHA!

He's also looking a little chubb these days, isn't he? That's what love does to you, I guess.

I love his rants. They're so in the moment, and when he gets into them, and you're there, you can just... feel it. Billie Joe is clearly a very passionate person, on so many subjects, and those are the small moments where the fans get to really feel it. I know when he went into a couple of his rants at the American Idiot finale, I was just like "FUCK YEAH!" Something about them... it just made me feel really alive. The way he feels so strongly, and is able to make his fans feel that too- even if you don't agree with what he's saying, it's wow, to me.

Like, I'm in a room, with fucking Green Day, and they're fucking playing, and Billie is ranting and raving, and it's just... amazing.

There's only one thing that is starting to get on my nerves nowadays about them: story lines in their albums. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE AI and 21CB. Idk...it's just something that makes me like....i can't really relate to 21CB...truth be told it's my least played album on iTunes

I know what I want to say, I'm just having trouble putting it into words

I don't think there's a storyline in 21st CB. Characters yeah, but no storyline.
