Tripe Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Okay, say you go to watch Green Day on night 1. Billie shouts "You guys are the best EVER" or something along those lines. Your friend goes to night 2. They say "Billie said we were the best EVER". You think butbutbut, I thought that was us /jealous little girl] He can be quite the shmoozy salesman, can't he? All that is said just for effect and to get the crowd to scream... The same reasons he says "X Country (wherever they are playing that night) is the NEW HOME of Green Day" and "Blah Blah Blah country/city/state sucks and YOU GUYS are GREAT!" I'm not fond of it either, but you have to admit it does pump up the crowd.

Even when he says you better at the hey oh's or longer than this or that city - your own crowd goes nuts. And that is exactly the reaction he wants. So while I know from the other tour threads that he does this at every show, when you hear it yourself, in your own city or wherever you are lucky enough to be seeing them, it is DAMN cool.

lizziebix Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 NONE OF IT IS REAL?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?! OMG I'm like dying inside Sorry to burst your bubble!
Isabel Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I don't really find the fact that they say the same things/play the same songs at shows annoying. I suppose if you think about it, they don't revolve their shows around those who go and see them more than once on a tour, they treat each audience as if it's the first time they're are seeing them. So it never really irritates me when they play the same songs or say the same thing, because, although I've seen it ten times before, thousands of others have never seen it.
Katherine Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I wish their security weren't such tight asses...Although, that might not be their fault. I also hate how the prices of their pit tickets keep rising.
Mar Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Yeah, I actually googled a map of the USA because I wasn't sure where Ohio was in relation to....well, anything really. (I'm so bad when it comes to American states!) And it noted that Cleaveland was one of its major cities. I've heard of that place so many times, surely it would pull in a big crowd. And especially since they played in Omaha on the 2009 tour?! (I know it was arena shows back then, but still!) LOL RIGHT? They went to Fargo, Omaha and Saskatoon, which are total "WTF" places for concerts, but skipped Ohio. No offense to people from there, I'm glad they had shows there, but like you said, it's weird! Those three cities have nowhere near the metro area that Cleveland does. Again, it's not the band's fault, but it's something I don't like! And don't worry, I am positive you know more about the US than most Americans know about anywhere else in the world! I agree with this. But it's what the fans/crowd wants to hear. True or not. Yeah, I don't like it either, but that's exactly why it happens! I wish their security weren't such tight asses...Although, that might not be their fault. I also hate how the prices of their pit tickets keep rising. Yeah, they were outrageous for this tour!
21st century idiot Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I wish Tre and Mike would sing and have some song on album
FannyDefoe Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I never liked that they did a collaboration with U2. I don't really know why but I got kind worried that Billie'd start thinking he's the one who can save the world, like Bono sometimes does. and it's nice if they care about the environment but to be honest I don't think they do anymore for saving it then anyone else. Of course I don't have a proof for that. but y'know. you're right...although I think the song itself is just GENIUS! i love that song. but I would have prefered it without U2, only because I don't like Bono and Billie's voice suits more the song. btw I'm still waiting for Green Day's cover of The House Of The Rising Sun... but I won't spam..sorry XDand I think Mike should be talking more during interviews...he is sooo fucking hilarious...he make's the best jokes EVER!
Rosie May Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 i guess....idk i just dont like it...i feel its...pointless? It seems like, well we've done clocks, bags, watches, bed spreads, jumpers and a million other accessories...what other thing can we put their name on? Although, i dont think it has alot to do with the guys themselves...i hope. I could've sworn I saw a Green Day pogo stick on EBay a few years ago I find them teaming up with random things, like the Rusty Wired thing and the Billa-bong (spelling?) shorts things a little random, it doens't bother me, it's just an odd way to promote things.

Oh gosh, I agree with you. I don't like U2, and I would listen to the Saints Are Coming so much more if it was just GD. I like that they have friends in high places, but on a personal level, I don't like that they collaborate with them!
Isabel Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I think I'm one of the few Irish people who actually does like U2
blitzkriegdeb Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I know this isn't really their fault per se, but the ticket/merch prices are rediculous. I went to go buy a shirt at their show yesterday, and the cheapest one was $30, which is all I had on me, so I got a $10 tour poster instead. I'm not even gonna get into the $75 sweatshirts.
Alan86 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I suppose the main thing I don't like about Green Day is that it takes them quite a few years to make albums now. But I guess they have to wait to get insperation from somewhere. I think I'm one of the few Irish people who actually does like U2 Lots of people in Ireland like U2 even if they don't admit it. They sold out Croke Park 3 nights in a row last year afterall. I do like them, even if at times Bono is annoying I have yet to see them live though. I must really get to one of their shows.
ColetteCool Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I don't like the fact that it takes them a long time to make albums... which scares me because then I don't want to lose interest just because they're still working Aaaalso, I wish they'd come to Ohio. They hate us
Vaso.Of.Suburbia Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 i dont really like the suits, the eyeliner, the musical and all this panic around american idiot. it's a great album, my favorite one, but everybody left the older ones behind... also i hate it when some fans like green day only becuse of billie joe... ok, he's hot, he's a great guitar player but mike tre and the jasons play in this band too! also i dont like the fact that they dont c0me to greece for a concert... the last one is my biggest complain!

But I think the gigs in Croke Park could have been the equivelant of Wembley; fans from all over came to those shows, not just Irish people no one my age that I know really likes U2 at all, but it annoys me when people say it just because they think it's 'cool' to be Irish and hate U2
Haniik Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 i dont really like the suits, the eyeliner, the musical and all this panic around american idiot. it's a great album, my favorite one, but everybody left the older ones behind... also i hate it when some fans like green day only becuse of billie joe... ok, he's hot, he's a great guitar player but mike tre and the jasons play in this band too! also i dont like the fact that they dont c0me to greece for a concert... the last one is my biggest complain! I hate that "OMFG Billie Joe is HOT" fans. Well I love Billie, but I love Mike and Tré as well. I don't like groups that's only about singer - and Green Day isn't band like that. There's only some stupid fans. American Idiot is great album, but... well I started with Green Day with AI, so I don't know how it was before AI was released, but I don't like that "teen fans" that knows only BOBD and 21 Guns and claims they're the BIGGEST Green Day fans. But that's not Green Day fault, I don't thing they're making music to be famous.
TheSaltOfTheEarth Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 The crazy prices for anything but lawn tickets to a show. You know how frustrating it is when you can't go to a show that's half an hour away from your house because you don't have enough money? I suppose that's not the band's fault, they have to make their money somehow... I actually like the new look, you know, the guyliner and leather jackets and stuff... I don't like how 21st Century Breakdown got such shitty promotion, because it's actually a great album - one of Green Day's best in my opinion - but it didn't get that great sales because of the promotion. It could have done SO much better. It got good promotion in the early days, but it got shoved in the background somehow... I don't really like the idea of the musical either. . . I mean, it's a good way for them to expand as musicians, but I would have preferred a movie version, instead of Broadway. I mean, it's just giving haters more substance. 21st CB singles could have done better - especially EAST JESUS NOWHERE. WHYY didn't it get a proper release and video? And also, to the people who're saying they should change up their shows a bit, I like that it's essentially the same because I'd KILL to see the stuff that they do every show in person. I think they do it for the people whose first shows they are. Because say you've watched indecent amounts of shows on youtube, and you FINALLY get to go to a show and then they DON'T do something that you were looking forward to them doing so bad, you know? So I actually like that. EDIT: I also think that Mike and Tre should get some more mic time in interviews. Billie talks too much, even though he has no idea what he's saying most of the time And in the newer albums (I know I'm repeating a lot of people) Mike's basslines aren't as prominent.
-Billiejoezee- Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I don't have any problems with green day, except the way they've managed the tour. The prices of all their shit, the fact that new York gets more shit than Cali, the way they've done the singles abs videos, and the fact that billie lies ALOT. oh and I HATE how fucking rude billie can be with fans that go up stage. I know he plays around rough but that takes away all my hopes of going up. I'd be scared if him.
Metanoia Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Well, ok so in my opinion it's just that i know a lot of artists who can make AMAZING albums in only 2 years instead of 5 and i really dont like the fact that they're just "overdoing" pretty much everything. I mean ok i love their live shows ect. but i think they'd be also good without all the fireworks and screens ect. sometimes its just TOO much. and billie's often overrating himself with all the "21st CB is the best ever" thing thats just too much i think idk i mean i ADORE AI !!!!!! really but after it i just think 21st cb was not really something new and just another rock opera. i would hope for something different the next time. well yeah so thats what i could say i dont like about them. sometimes they whole huge green day thing is too much in my opinion
unabrasiveadhesive Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 i dont really hate it but only BJ and tre seemed to have fun during live shows. Mike looks like a robot most of the time just standing there like Jason. I mean look like nofx they look like all of them are having fun. Maybe Mike is just like that but yeah
Maura99 Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 That they have this 'image' that has let people to believe that their music is like Blink-182's. Come on people, there's a huge difference...! And that all the guyliner has let the media to believe that GD turned into emo rock. There is nothing emo about them or their music, for Pete's sake! I mean ok i love their live shows ect. but i think they'd be also good without all the fireworks and screens ect. sometimes its just TOO much. This. A band like Green Day doesn't need all the fireworks. They are the fireworks on stage. It would be just as amazing for me if it was just the three of them - like it used to be.
Just Kate Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 i don't like the fact they've been so big (stadiums, arenas, all over the place) and i don't like the 21CB cast (maybe because i've never seen a musical yet) sorry...
Ellenkc Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 That they have this 'image' that has let people to believe that their music is like Blink-182's. Come on people, there's a huge difference...! And that all the guyliner has let the media to believe that GD turned into emo rock. There is nothing emo about them or their music, for Pete's sake! People class them with Blink 182 because of the pop-punk genre, physically they don't actually look anything alike, but eww Blink I have no problem with the eyeliner personally. They can wear whatever they want to wear. Like you said they aren't emo and anyone with the most basic knowledge of the genre knows GD aren't. If they stopped wearing eyeliner because a bunch of idiots with very little music knowledge call them emo because they wear eyeliner, I would be really disappointed.
