I don't like this thing:

Mike was on Acid. How many kids go out and try acid now, just to attempt on writing a song?

I partially agree with you, but also drugs are a big part of Green Day. Hell even their name is one big drug reference, and they have admitted to using harder drugs like speed and as said, acid. I think the drugs were somewhat a part of who they were, definetely not a part of who they are.

where was i going with this

Wow everyone is going to hate me now...

I don't like that Tre had gotten so... ~big. He just looks a bit silly now. BUT I STILL LOVE HIM.

i know what you mean

also, i dont know how much this has to do with green day themselves, but i really dont like the boardshorts and hoodie things, i understand guitars, even shoes...but boardies? They're a band, not surfers...it just seems a bit sad to me to just be slapping their name on any random crap :/ i dont think its needed at all. but you know..just my opinion.

Oh man, I feel like people are going to get sick of me saying this, but yeah, the reason I can't go to Detroit is because it's my first day of classes, and due to first day attendance policies (where I'll get dropped from the class if I don't go), I can't make it there in time (because my school is about 2 hours away from the venue). So it's like, SO CLOSE, SO CLOSE BUT YET SO FAR! But I mean, like you said with Luxembourg and Belgium, those are big places like Detroit (not in the same scale, but I'm talking figuratively). But like Ireland, Ohio is a pretty big concert market (again, not in scale)! So annoying!

No one is going to get sick of you saying anything, you can't go and see your favourite band and you're pissed off. Vent to your heart's content. We GDCers won't mind, I'm sure we've all been there at some point, I know I have! (Witness festival 2002, Oxegen festival 2005to be precise ;) )

When was the last time they played Ohio actually? =/

As has been HUGELY noted, i hate when billie takes ages to answer a question in an interview 'y,know'? Especially when its a question he has answered a million times before and you know you could answer it for him quicker. And i hate that they worked with U2. I can't stand Bono

i really, really wish that they would have more midwest, or even southeast dates. and i wish they wouldnt wait five years between albums, because god only knows where ill be five years from now or what will be going on in my life by then, who knows if ill even be able to go see them.

that Billie doesn't masturbate anymore during Hitchin' a Ride

no srsly, I don't like that the shows are kinda all the same. Like, the setlist is pretty much the same every night and they always do the same stuff during songs, like King for a Day and Jaded. And the outfits. In the American Idiot era Billie Joe was always wearing the black shirt with the red tie, and during the 2009 tour, he was always wearing more or less the same clothes as well (the shirt with the patches and the Jesus vest).

Pretty sure it was in October 2005.

I feel your pain. My kids start school the following morning and I am about 3.5 hours away from Detroit. Impossible for me to be gone for that. :(

Aww, isn't it crappy? I mean, if only they would have had the show on Tuesday. I'm done with classes 2:15 that day, I could have made it to DTE (or Blossom, maybe even a Columbus venue) by then. So annoying!

You are too sweet :D they came to Cleveland (northeast area of the state, about 3 hours from Detroit) in March 2005 and Dayton (southwest area of the state, about 6 hours from Detroit, but they also had a Detroit show at that tour) in August 2005. They've avoided central Ohio for probably 8 years, if not more. I live in northwest Ohio so about halfway between Detroit and Cleveland, so a Cleveland date would be fine to go to, so it's like ACK JUST COME HERE TOO PLEASE! The Cleveland metro area is huge, so they could get people to come.

it's not enough for me to hate them, but it really pissed me off when Billie yelled "fuck you, usa" on the european leg. Whether he meant it or not doesn't make a difference.

Their past 2 albums were really bad IMO. The lyrics were good, i guess. But I miss when Green Day was fun and emotional, not serious and politcal. Green Day has to much meaning now. I missed when Billie Joe played songs for fun, not for the art. Theres 3 or 4 good songs on both of their last albums.

I think maybe they do it because surfing, skateboarding and punk are kinda related, maybe? :ninja:

I don't like the way they look. All dressed in black with skinny jeans and eyeliner. They're almost 40 and I think it looks terrible. But I don't mind cause it doesn't effect the music which is all I care about anyways. They could be trannys for all I care.

i guess....idk i just dont like it...i feel its...pointless? It seems like, well we've done clocks, bags, watches, bed spreads, jumpers and a million other accessories...what other thing can we put their name on? Although, i dont think it has alot to do with the guys themselves...i hope.

Nah, I don't think so. I think it's probably just another way to promote the band to people who have a higher chance of liking them.

I agree that Mike and Tre should talk more during interviews, sometimes you just want more than Billie's side or thoughts. As much as i love him i want to hear them too. That also goes for the music, Mike and Tre have awesome voices and i personally would like to hear them more on the songs. I love Mike's solo singing time.

As far as concerts, i think they should do backstage passes i figured its because of their managment. But who knows maybe they want that. I think it would be really awesome if they opened that up, but then again i dont think any band does that anymore.

Yeah, I actually googled a map of the USA because I wasn't sure where Ohio was in relation to....well, anything really. (I'm so bad when it comes to American states!) And it noted that Cleaveland was one of its major cities. I've heard of that place so many times, surely it would pull in a big crowd. And especially since they played in Omaha on the 2009 tour?! =/ (I know it was arena shows back then, but still!)

true, true...just one of those things that happens when you're majorly successful I guess.

I think Billie can come across as a bit of a diva sometimes. And I think if Tre is actually as crazy as he appears to be all the time, he'd drive me fucking insane

I don't think that 21st Century Breakdown was a good album, considering the fact that it's written by Green Day (BJ). It has a few good songs, but to me the album itself lacks an identity. Most of their previous albums had distinct identities (especially AI and Warning), but there's nothing like that on 21st CB. Maybe it's just too diverse?

Also, it's time to move on from the rock-operas. To infinity, and beyond!

Okay, say you go to watch Green Day on night 1. Billie shouts "You guys are the best EVER" or something along those lines. Your friend goes to night 2. They say "Billie said we were the best EVER". You think butbutbut, I thought that was us
