Coffee409 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 And having Billie call Bush an asshole is bull shit. They could still tell you to think for yourself without saying shit like that. I still don't get this.... If he thinks Bush is an assholes, why is he an asshole for saying as much? Everyone complaining about the lack of spontaneity at their shows: at Hartford tonight they played FOD, Geek Stink Breath, Dominated Love Slave, JAR, Going to Pasalacqua, a bit of Mother Mary, a bit of It's Fuck Time, and Whatsername acoustic, among others. Spontaneous enough for you? That's not really the point.... I think what I, and many others are talking about, has nothing to do with song choice. (I've been saying that all along) It's more the stage banter, antics and productions of the show. he has to like it! he has the money to move if he wants to! he couldve moved years ago! Were you at the HP Pavilion last year? You could just SEE how happy he was to be home.
Beathe. Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 HAHA alright sry for not being an old fart and being to young to go to concerts before last year(my parents are pretty conservative) .....and just to say my brother is seeing them since then too and hes not your opinion. And no reason to get rude! And just to say i think you're getting on everyones nerves including me with your blabla about seeing them since 95...so what ? Stop to persuade yourself on that! Agreed. I saw Green Day for the first time when I was 4, but who the fuck takes a 4 year old to a rock concert? A lot of the Green Day fans are "young", and it doesn't matter. As long as you like the band, who the fuck cares? What's pissing me off is socalled fans at the show that try to get to the front and they don't even know the songs. This one chick that was standing next to me were pushing everyone away because she wanted to see and she didn't even know St. Jimmy.

I love the fact that GD has such a diverse group of fans, old and young alike. It is disheartening though when they start to play pre-AI material and half of the younger kids stand around with a blank expression on their face. Also, I plan to take my daughter to a GD show as soon as I feel she's ready. She'll be 4 soon

I wouldn't have done that. I'm pretty sure I was scared when I saw them. Also my sister's kid who's 5 was at a show during this tour. After she concert she just sat there and looked at me and said, "aunty?, he touched his pee-pee!" So not so clever no..

She'll be 4 soon For my first Green Day show I had no clue what 1/2 the pre-AI songs were, I knew some of the more obvious ones but not a lot. So I don't really have a problem with this happening at concerts, because I know if they were as impressed with the show as I was they'll be buying every album they can get their hands on the day after

Coffee409 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 ...so? So it would be wrong on so many levels for guys in their mid-30's to be even remotely interested in a teen........
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 ...so? 14........ 38. 14.... 38 14. 38 14 and 38.

Moffie Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 ..... Okay, this conversation is starting to get creepy.
green day fantasy Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I love Green Day dearly but I will admit there are a few things that tick me off. 21st Century Breakdown was a disappointment, though I like a lot of the songs but I thought they could have picked better singles and music videos. Also the promotion was lackluster. I did not see any signs, posters, ads on tv or magazines anywhere and if I did it was very little. 21st Century Breakdown was good but in my opinion it was not worth the 5 year wait. Also while im on this topic I know Green Day wants their album to be perfect and all but im not liking the long waits between albums. I really hope that if Green Day decides to make another album we wont have to wait half a decade for. Another thing that really pissed me off and im sure just about everyone on here knows and I know it's not really the bands fault but the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. I was really hoping Green Day would come back to my hometown but they skipped Ohio completely. They didnt come here last summer when they were doing their North American summer tour and they are not coming back this summer. I have waited 5 years to see the band return, make an album and go on tour. It was kind of a slap in the face for me because I was praying(yes I really was) for the band to come back here. I want to know what Ohio did to Green Day? Maybe they are banned here who knows lol. I was not able to see them during American Idiot and I dont have the money to travel to another state to see them because if I was able to I wouldnt complain. Green Day has really poor management which is quite disappointing. Everything about this era sucked HARD. The singles suck, the music videos suck, the promotion sucked, the band skipping ohio sucks and their tour management sucks, The radio doesnt play any of their new stuff either and when they do play Green Day its the songs off A.I. The album wasnt that great either as I mentioned above. I was sooo hoping that this era would be better or the same as the American Idiot era was. Hopefully Green Day will be back on top again. SOOOO DISAPPOINTING!!!!
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 but one can fantasize...cant they? If it's only fantasy anyway, why would they need to be single irl xD
communitykid Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Honestly, I'm really skeptical about their direction as a band. Don't get me wrong, the last album was a good album over, but it wasn't a good Green Day album. I just expected far more with them having so much time to get it together. Though they did switch producers and all that. Either way, I think the concept album themes and styles should be done away with, and that the band should set foot in a totally new direction.
arian Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 It bothers me when they play Highway to Hell, Sweet Child O Mine, Iron Man, etc., at shows. Not that I don't get it, I know that Billie grew up liking it and I'm fine with that, I'm not bashing his tastes-- I'd just rather hear.. Kinks, Who, or Beatles covers.. Which I know he also loves.

There's a lot of people who do like the metal covers, which is why they do them. The more power-poppy songs they do in the Shout medley From all the comments this thread gets about singles not being played etc, I'm guessing 21st CB was more popular in the UK and IRL? Not by album sales imo, but they get played quite a lot on radio and tv here.

The more power-poppy songs they do in the Shout medley Van Halen covered "You Really Got Me" by The Kinks. Green Day perform that. Problem solved. I know they have performed it before, but I'd like to see it more, I mean. I do have to give them credit for making me actually sort of enjoy Highway to Hell when they perform it, though.
mandajane Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Were you at the HP Pavilion last year? You could just SEE how happy he was to be home. i wasnt there. went to the show in sacramento though. i know hes kinda cynical about oakland at times, but i think he does like it. he grew up here and they got into music from the local music scene in the east bay. he couldve moved a long time ago.

I hear (and have been for the last year +) a shit load of 21CB on the radio, and I saw A LOT of advertisement for it all over TV when the album came out.
