oda Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I looked at Billies listed followers and 20 of them are the SAME person... wut? oh, and i really want to reply to billie sometimes, but i feel like i'm just talking to a wall do you guys think he reads the stuff people write back?
Katarina. Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I think it's this. Plus the idea of religion being sold wholesale like tins of baked beans. I like how you explained that. I think the same way. And I thought it was known it's based on Jesus Christ Superstar. If Green Day won't use the name in any future albums, well, you know, the Frustrators could use Jesus Christ Supermarket for an upcoming record (if there's gonna be one), since they're making fun of albums/albumtitles. I can already imagine the cover art for it.
Fuzz Posted February 6, 2011 Author Posted February 6, 2011 wut? oh, and i really want to reply to billie sometimes, but i feel like i'm just talking to a wall do you guys think he reads the stuff people write back? I doubt he reads every reply - but I've replied once just for the hell of it. Doesn't hurt anything.
Rosie May Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Me too. I believe I had heard him saying in an interview that he is an atheist. So he's an atheist obsessed with religious themes? I'm fairly sure he said in an interview in 2009 somewhere that he has a "Christianity fetish" as a joke. It explains all the references.
Hermione Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I love how Billie gets his favourite little sayings and jokes and anecdotes and says them over and over again Speaking of which... He has said in some interview last year (I forgot which one. It was on a tv show. The interview where he showed how a water bong or something like that worked ) that he has kind of a fetish with Christianity, haha. But I do think he is interested in Christianity, yes. He's said the "fetish for Christianity" thing in about 10 different interviews I thought Billie was very anti-religious He's said before he finds religious imagery and ornaments etc interesting. I don't think the fact he uses a lot of religious language in his lyrics has anything to do with his religious beliefs or lack thereof, it's just his artistic style that he likes that imagery.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 He's said the "fetish for Christianity" thing in about 10 different interviews Oh well.
Hermione Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Oh well. Oh and the "" wasn't at you, it was at Billie
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Oh and the "" wasn't at you, it was at Billie Yeah, I got that, haha.
Nele Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I mostly find twitter a little bit akward... and Billie's twitter's no exception.
-Billiejoezee- Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I always like calling insomniac JCSM. And billie once said he did believe there was a god. He just didn't like how religion was and all.
spark in the night Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 wut? oh, and i really want to reply to billie sometimes, but i feel like i'm just talking to a wall do you guys think he reads the stuff people write back? haha I reply to all his tweets. just to say a little something to him, I like to think that he would glance at mine.
The Bunny Abides Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Thanks Billie Joe. Now I have a new favorite band.
Boston Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Jesus Christ Supermarket is a much better album title...
AndrewW91 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 People who need Billie to tell them that Social D is good for you to listen to them, wtf. Social D is awesome, I thought that was a universal thing that everyone new.
ParadoxAndPlaid Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I think it's this. Plus the idea of religion being sold wholesale like tins of baked beans. Attention Shoppers; blue light spacial in the evangelist aisle! No one has said it, but I thought that was kind of really obvious, haha. As for the tattoo though, I remember some interview where he said he saw the logo on a friend's album and really liked the logo so he got it tattooed, without really knowing what the album was. And that it was like one of his first tattoos. Whoa, that must have been quite a revelation when he found out what it was. I hope he ended up liking it anyway.
The Snark Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 It's oddly cute that something so old still bothers him, but JCSM really is a better title than Insomniac, IMO. I'd like to see a shirt for it...perhaps Jesus hovering over a shopping cart?
BraedonHorbacio Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I think he's said in interviews since about how his views had changed. most recently there was that interview where all 3 said they went to the baptism of a friend's, and they couldn't really believe the stuff the preist was saying. I think he just isn't in to organized religion, but he still believes in god and such. In an interview from last year he said that before he dies he will have to "do some explaining to the man upstairs" or something like that.
beejeezee Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Jesus Christ Supermarket I think it would make a wonder name for an album, and now I don't think I will ever call Insomniac "Insomniac" again.
Foxboro Holiday Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I don't think it's just Christianity he looks into, he acknowledged Allah at the concert in Quebec saying "Praise Allah!"
minorty13 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I think he just isn't in to organized religion, but he still believes in god and such. In an interview from last year he said that before he dies he will have to "do some explaining to the man upstairs" or something like that. He could just be joking around though, too. I don't believe in God but I'll still say things like "God if you're listening..." etc. I don't know if he believes in God or not now that I think about it...
AndrewW91 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 On Bill Maher, Beejes said "Religion is bullshit". - Amen sister. He could just be joking around though, too. I don't believe in God but I'll still say things like "God if you're listening..." etc. I don't know if he believes in God or not now that I think about it... I joke like that all the time. Like in public places I'll scream aloud "thank the good lord Jesus Christ!". It's quite comical.
minorty13 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I joke like that all the time. Like in public places I'll scream aloud "thank the good lord Jesus Christ!". It's quite comical. I concure.
-Billiejoezee- Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 It's funny how billie said that years ago, and he still remembers it to this day.
darenmay Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 i'm still waiting for his bio! what would it be like?
lizziebix Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I think I'm kind of glad I won't be attending on the 27th. Not sure I could handle all the emotion of both Billie and Esper last shows. Just glad I got to see them both, separately and together. Good memories.
