sara_gd Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 For some people it is a phase, for others it stays. Not everyone stays obsessed with them (I'm sure we've all been there ) and some just stop liking them completely. Some people still love their music but don't need to know every single bit of news. I agree completely. I know many people like that. And I definitely think it's not a phase for me.
JadedHaushinka Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 No one has ever thought I had a Green Day phase or something.
sara_gd Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 My dad on the other hand is a bit of a prick about it, he said to me not long ago "You don't have to follow them every where they go, they're not your life." And I snapped at him like "Well actually if I was following them everywhere I'd be doing all of Europe (and not only seven shows), North and south America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Canada, ect... And I'm not, but by the way the only reason for that is because I can't afford to, but if I could, I definitely would... And you're right about one thing, I don't "need" to, but I want to. And for your information they are a huge part of my life, bigger than you could imagine because you refuse to comprehend things because you're always fucking right anyway, eh?" ... aand he didn't talk to me for a while after that. "They're not your life, they're just guys, they're not god, you shouldn't be like that, you should have a life that's not Green Day Green Day Green Day..." I know.
Rachel Nimrod Armstrong Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 My mum always says to me that i'm going through a "Green Day phase" and that i'll grow out of it I always hate it when she says that.. soo i always tell her that Green Day are my life and i love them more than anything in the world and i'm NOT going through a phase! lol! arggh stupid mum!!!
1039slappygirl Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Yeah, my parents used to say that to me, but it's been 4 years now, so my mother has finally got it My dad still thinks it's just a phase, but I don't care anymore. Hopefully he'll understand when I have kids and I still listen to Green Day
lawrahday Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 my parents didn't really care which was great. my dad thinks billie joe is so funny looking and my moms laughed at tre before so thats all good its more like my friends wish i'd get outta the 'phase'. i don't have one friend thats a green day fan like me kinda sucks but yeah after 6 years of loving them i think i always will
Opezi Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 its been 6 years so far and i dont kow why they continue to think its a phase.
.:Whatsername:. Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 My mom and dad never really said straight out to me that they thought it was a phase, but if they ever thought it, I'm sure they understand now that it's not a phase. I've been a fan almost six years now, so if it is a phase it's a pretty damn long one. Some people do just go through phases though. My best friend back when American Idiot came out was a huuuuge fan, but after all the hype from AI died down and they sort of disappeared for a few years, she grew out of it.
Bubbles. Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 "They're not your life, they're just guys, they're not god, you shouldn't be like that, you should have a life that's not Green Day Green Day Green Day..." I know. Yeah, used to it
Maddy. Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 My phase will be over soon. I'll still like their music, though.
LetItBeHappy Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 at first was like that... after 2 years, my mom realised these guys are not going anywhere it's been 5 years since I like them, 6 after september, yay
Comedy & Tragedy Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 My parents think it's a phase, they just don't say it in front of me
PasalacquaBomb Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 My parents think it's a phase, they just don't say it in front of me Ha. Sounds like they'd be afraid of it.
Mommy's Little Nightmare Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Everyone told me it was a phase at first. Everyone told me I'd regret it when I got my Green Day tattoo, because I was just going to grow out of them. Nobody feels that way anymore. It'll take time, but parents/friends/whoever will realize it's not a phase after a while.
Comedy & Tragedy Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Ha. Sounds like they'd be afraid of it. Nah, I think they just don't wanna piss me off.
bollard_11 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Nah, I think they just don't wanna piss me off. You would NOT like Gráinne when she is angry
Sarah.Scumbag Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 My parents seem to insist it's a phase, eventhough I've been a fan for 7 years almost, although, I don't think they've realised that it's been at long. But whatteevverrr, as long as my parents let me go see them live and give me money to buy their merch, everything is good.
Comedy & Tragedy Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 You would NOT like Gráinne when she is angry WHY?! WHAT AM I LIKE WHEN I'M ANGRY. I'M NEVER ANGRY!! ALWAYS HAPPY!!!
.katie. Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I don't think my parents have ever thought it was a phase. But even if they did they probably don't think that anymore
Doctor Demon Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 For me, the obsession lasted a good 2 and a half years. They'll always be a favourite of mine, though. I really don't think my parents thought my Green Day obsession was a phase. In fact, I think my mum was pretty surprised when I told her that they weren't my number one, all-time favourite band anymore.
ihaveapenisbitch! Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I'd love to say twelve years was a phase but I think I'm past the phase now. To be honest my parents have given up on me ever growing out of loving them. Either that they dont give a shit anymore I think its the latter.
Punk-tastic32 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 My parents think it's a phase, they just don't say it in front of me Yeah, I think mine are like that too. Either that, or they just don't care. Both are good
JohannaRaeRamone. Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Hahah I looked at this topic like 10 times and thought it was called " The Green Day Phrase" and thought what they heck is that? Which one? So now that finally grasp it I have to comment. While I can accept that there will be a time when I am not as madly in love with Green Day, I don't think I'm just going to up and grow out of it. I think they're here to stay with me, escpecially if they keep on keepin on. Most of the bands I listen to are dead/obsolete so it's hard to listen to them hardcore for too long with nothing new happening. And while I can see Green Day being a phase for a lot of people, (it's one of the cooler edgier things your average pre-teen is going to be exposed to on their mainstream radio or, -shudder-, in Claires merchandising), nobody really acusses me of having it as a phase.
belinda jane Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 I honestly thought it was a phase in the beginning, but I think after the first time I saw them live I realised that I would never grow out of them. Especially after that 5 year gap between AI and 21CB, most people would find a new band to love, but I didn't. That's when I knew, these guys are with me until I die .
