Kinda have the same experience as most of you, I am alone in my fandom. My husband likes most of their music (mostly the poppie sounding songs) but he's by no means a fan like u and I. My co-workers don't get it but they find it mildly amusing. There is one guy at my work that loves to get my goat by saying Green Day's not punk, their sell outs. He just pulls things out of his butt expecting that I wont know the truth, like once he said Green Day doesn't even write their own music, they have writers that do it for them. Really? REALLY?! And one time I was watching clips from Bullet in a Bible and he saw the crowd that was there and said that can't be a Green Day concert it must be a music festival. Dumbass! Why don't you go back to listening to Nickelback or Creed or whatever. But I digress, it has its advantages being known as the only Green Day fan in my office, a few days ago was my birthday and my co-workers decorated my desk with Happy Birthday signs and pictures of Green Day. Sweet.

Well my family at first was likre another phase, an then slowly I managed to convert them all and convince them it was nowhere near a phase. My best friend already liked them, and is into rock and metal, so when GD introduced me to the type of music I'm into now it brought me a lot closer to her and she thought it was awesome My other friends are still quite new in my life so I was into GD when I met them, so they haven't seen me change but at first they were like They weren't used to someone being an actual dedicated fan instead of just liking what no1 that week in the charts, but now they live with it Apart from 2 Gaga mad friends, there's a lot of banter/fights that go on there

Most of my friends (especially the ones in my band) think Green Day is shit save for a few songs. I've convinced a few of them that their non-mainstream tracks (Letterbomb, Whatsername, Scattered, etc.) are better than the ones they release as singles (21 Guns, Know Your Enemy, WMUWSE, etc.).

My mom DEFINITELY thinks I'm too crazy about Green Day and same with my dad until he went to a concert with me in 2009. He came out of the concert and after driving my friends home he said that Green Day was nothing but talent and he understands why I love them so much (he did say there didn't need to be so much use of the Fuck Word though). I remember one day after the concert, he came home from work and said something to my mom about loving the concert. Then he said he was driving and heard a Green Day song come on the radio so he turned up the radio and sang along.

Corrupting people into liking Green Day is one of the small pleasures in my life hahaha

Not exactly Green Day but close enough, my Dad has taken a real liking to the FBHT lately.

He's blasted the whole album out in our living room a few times, and made quite a number of comments which I won't quote, but they're basically general compliments about their musical ability and style and a few "Oh they sound like so and so band that was around when I was a kid, yep I can definitely hear they've influenced them'

I have some friends who like them and I have some friends who hate them. They all know they are my favorite band so they know to keep their Green Day comments to themselves

I got my family more into Green Day because of my middle school obsession with them, bahaha. My dad said he'll take me to see them a lot whenever they come near me which is fine with me! My mom even said she would see them and she hates concerts. I'm glad my parents like them as much as I do, if they didnt I dont know how I would be haha <3

I've talked to them about it before though, and they also think it's really neat that I am able to love something as much as I love Green Day. My friend once "tried to be obsessed with Alkaline Trio"--she learned the band members' names and all kinds of information about them and watched youtube interviews with them and whatnot, and she said it was really hard. They admire my dedication, I guess.
