My cousin stopped liking them because of my "crazy obsession"

My mom just rolls her eyes whenever i bring them up or their song is playing.

My dad doesn't even know who they are(crazy, i know) :P

My dad doesn't like them, he thinks all the songs sound the same and they're all tiny men. My mum on the other hand says that they give the fans what they want and they put on a good show which made my dad angry  They actually argued over it for a while. My sisters use to dislike them but I took them both to the Sheffield concert and converted them, both love Green Day now.

My friends make fun of me for it, always saying they are the biggest sellout band of the century.

I tell em to piss off most of the time, but only to the ones I know are being serious.

I've been a fan a looong time, but unfortunately I live in a Green Day desert--no appreciation of their total genius by anyone I know, other than my husband. It's one of the reasons I like to come to GDC. Also, I have kids older than many of you guys and they totally aren't interested. I think I've worn them down with all the GD cds in my car. Also, I like to sing along and my voice sucks so I guess I can see how that might be a turn off. Just glad my hubby likes them --we're really excited for a big road trip to Michigan to see them on the 23rd.

when I wear green day shirts to school people say 'green day? they're so old' blahhhhhh they can go fuck themselves

i told my parents that i eventually would get a green day tatoo they were like 'ummmm, i don't think you'll still like green day later on' and I'm like 'why not? it's the same amazing music'

people can be soooo.....BLAH

I'm sorry that your kids don't even like them... I'm trying to get my younger siblings into them. I would be so heart broken if they aren't as obsessed as I when their my age..

my mum asked me "Is this guys 28 years old?(pointed at Billie joe on the computer screen)" when i was watching 21guns mv on youtube.

haha it's really ridiculous! And it means billie joe is younger than he should be. ;D

My mum loves green day's song too!yay!

My Mum quite likes them, my sister loves them but not quite as much as me ;) My best friend loves them and fancies the pants off of Billie, but it was my Dad who LOVED them, he was pretty much responsible for getting me into them really. He wanted to be Billie Joe  Sadly he never got the chance to see them live but we did have WMUWSE at his funeral

So yeah, my family are pretty much all fans, it must be in the genes.

My dad likes Green Day as well. He came with me to see them and got involved in the moshpit! Even though he didn't get much choice as he was pushed around haha

but one things for sure.. they all know now random facts and stroys about them..

they think im obsessed... But, most of them have got more into green day for me banging on about them all the time,

But i have this one mate .. who i've had a lot of arguments with becasue she now like Justin Biber.. whats more...

she thinks hes better than Green Day.. you know the world going wrong when stuff like thats going down

my folks are just like what ever really, but if they knew half of their antics.. .i think they'd have alot more to say.

My dad is actually the one that got me into Green Day -- one time, the Longview music video came on MTV and my dad said "I remember this." and I said "But he looks so crazy!" and my dad laughed. Good times.

So ever since then, I've gotten into them. For about a month they were all I talked about, but now I'm a little more mellow xD

Whenever my dad sees me listening to Green Day he gets pretty happy, knowing I'm not listening to Justin Bieber, etc.

My Mom got me into them and she was ~dancing~ at the concert which freaked me out. My Dad respects them and he likes some of their songs, but he also likes to make fun of them. Like, Billie's eyeliner and his frequent cussing. My sister likes Green Day and she thinks Billie is cute. She also makes fun of Tre's real name all the time.

My brother could care less

I just had a flashback. I was at school, and it was lunchtime. They let you listen to "school appropriate music" at lunchtime, and throughout the room Justin Bieber was playing. I finally had enough. I went up to the boombox and changed the CD. Now Muse, Green Day, Foxboro Hottubs, and Linkin Park were playing. As soon as I sat down the sixth grade girls went to war with me. They said that the stuff I listen to is not real music, that it's for boys. I told them to listen to the lyrics in a Green Day song and compare it to a Justin Bieber song and tell me Green Day isn't real music. They never talked to me again. One girl even apologized! Go me!

I salute you for converting someone!

my parents love them, especially my dad. when i went to see them a 2nd time with my BFF my parents said they would definitely not miss the concert lol so they went with us.

my friends don't really care for them.

@Underclasshero

I don't think I converted them, but no one ever questioned Green Day in front of me again. I DID convert my best friend's little brother though, and he lived with hip hop and rap his whole life, so that made me feel good. :)

My best friend hates Green Day. And she gets really annoyed every time I start talking about them.

But my parents.. well... they accept it that I'm such a big fan

And my mom now likes Green Day too (:

Well it was actually one of my friends who introduced me to Green Day, so it really stemmed from her. Our group at school were already used to Nicola's obsession, so it didn't phase them one way or the other when I followed suit

My best friend is pretty indifferent to it. Though she looked at me like I'd grown an extra head when I started crying in front of her when I was talking about them being in the US and how desperately I wish I could see them again :ermm: But she's never seen them and she doesn't have the same appreciation, so I suppose I can see why I'd look weird crying over a band =/

As for my mum, she loves them. She fangirls over Billie and sits here with me to look at photos of him  She's been with me both times I've seen them and agrees with me when I say they're the best performers out there. And considering she's seen people like Cher, INXS and U2, I think that's pretty awesome

hmmm lets see. a couple of my friends like them actually but not nearly as much as me. and if they do mock of me for it its all in good fun. me in my best friend have harassment battles because she likes nickelback so ya know...

my older brother makes fun of me but i know hes secretly a fan... i looked at his ipod and he has four full albums and the bullet in a bible videos so he cant hide it.

my mother doesnt care, and my dad says he like them but i think its just a ploy to connect with me

Family: They think I'm obsessed.

Friends: They think I'm obsessed.

Randoms: Hate Green Day.

Well my parents just pretty much take it for granted that I'm obsessed with them. :) They make jokes like "what are you listening to? ooooh, it wouldn't be Green Day by any chance would it?". But they both like them. My dad liked them, and then I got him to listen to loads of Green Day CDs and always played them in his car, and now I might have made him a bit tired of them. Ooops.

I don't really have many friends that like Green Day, and none as much as I do. Sometimes people laugh occasionally but usually they're just like "Green Day? Oh....they're ok". Like they have the ELITE music taste. =/ Ah well. As long as I love them, that's all that counts. :D

i learned a lot of stuff from green day and one of them not to care so i don't care what people say and what my friends think that green day suck they all listen to rap and stuff and when they do i become so mad i blow there fucking heads cause i don't love anyone to say something bad if he doesn't like it just shut up but after i made them listen for some green day songs some are fans now and some are not haters anymore :P and I'm ready to give my soul for green day

My friend loves Green Day and has an account on here. My mom knows them as "the band with a lead singer that wears eyeliner" lol. She likes a few of their songs and my dad hates all of my favorite music.

Posted

My mom actually likes quite a few Green Day songs since I took the family to see them in concert. Like, When I Come Around will start playing on the radio and she'll be like, "Oh, I know this song! It's our friends!" (My mom is strange and calls certain musical artists her 'friends').

My younger brothers are ok with Green Day, but definitely not as into them as I am. The majority of my friends mostly roll their eyes at my obsession and my boyfriend just appeases me with Green Day stuffs every once and a while to keep me happy (ie: before I went to see them in concert, he got me a Green Day t-shirt, though I have plenty).

My friends think I'm wacko. They're all the type who listen to Beyonce, Eminem, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and all that stuff. I swear, they have no preference of their own when it comes to music - whatever's popular at the time is their favourite song. Another one of my friends is obsessed with Coldplay, which I respect a bit more. But she thinks I'm wacko too. Most of them likes 21 Guns, though, which I suppose is something. I don't really discuss my obsession too much with my friends after one of them said 'I don't get why you listen to rock music. It's so boring!'

My family thinks Green Day is influencing me badly. My mom doesn't really know too much about them or my obsession, so what she doesn't know won't hurt her :whistle

I mostly obsess to my younger-older sister. She thinks I'm a bit wacko as well, but at least she listens to me. She makes fun of the band a lot, and she calls Billie and Mike and Tre gay, fags, ugly and more. She likes a few songs like Good Riddance, 21 Guns, Viva La Gloria, Extraordinary Girl, though. So she's okay, I suppose. In fact, she introduced me to Green Day. She didn't know I was going to get so obsessed.

My dad hates Green Day and thinks I should stop listening to them or I'm going to start doing drugs. For all he knows, I have stopped listening to them. What he doesn't know is that Billie, Mike and Tre are all better fathers and husbands than he is.

My older-older sister gets some of the obsessiveness, but not too much because she makes fun of me about it a lot.

Why does everyone posting on here seem to seem to be (somewhat) alone in their fan-dom?

My friends all think they're "eh," "overrated," "sell-outs," or "ew! green day?"

And people wonder why I get so squeamish about telling people what bands I like.

Posted

My brother used to make fun of me for liking them, and he would call them gay and everything. But I tricked him into listening to them and now he's a huge fan.

I think a lot of people that "hate" green day just haven't given them a chance.

Or know any of their songs besides blvd of broken dreams and good riddance...
