Tragically Green Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Sept 24, 2004 in Toronto. Seeing them play American Idiot front to back when it was brand new was awesome! There was only about 1000 people there so I got to be pretty close to the stage without getting smushed. Plus the band was hanging around before and after the show so I got to meet them which was really cool. I've seen them 5 times from 2002 to 2009 and every time has been awesome (well Barrie was a little less than awesome but still good).

OliDayyy Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 First of all = EVERY SINGLE Green Day show is awesome. Seriously. I've seen them 9 times and I've always been impressed. But here is my top 5: - New York, April 2010 (well ok, that was the Foxboro Hot Tubs), but it simply represented one of my biggest dreams, and I got so lucky the band announced a gig the week I was on holiday in NY - Paris, Trabendo, May 2009. Until last April, it was my best show so far, because it was in one of the smallest places of Paris, I was front row, and it was just perfect! I had so much fun, and BJ and Mike smiled at me when I hold my sign 'Christie Road', as a request (they didn't play it because they had to take their plane after the show, but their smiles were really fine ) - Paris, Canal + (tv show, May 2009). That was my first time seeing them... I was almost crying when they got on stage but I had a huge camera on my face as it was filmed so it was very disturbing anyway, I went on stage TWICE! with other people, so we were like 15 to go on stage, jumping and screaming. I still cannot believe it happened for real... - Paris, Parc des Princes (June 2010). I got early entries with my friends, we were in a perfect place and we had a blast. I enjoyed every single moment of it, because it was my last show until the next (and when is the next?). Plus, Paramore opened for them, and it's my second favorite band, so, it was like a dream. - Antwerp, Belgium (October 2009). With 2 friends we had a problem with our tickets, we were supposed to be on the standing area, but we ended on the top of the seating area... you know, the highest place you can find? ahah. But we had so much fun, we were screaming all the lyrics. I remember the next day I lost my voice ahah. It felt so good to shout all the lyrics, it was like a deliverance. But oh... the 4 other shows I didn't talk about were so good too ! Like the soundcheck in Paris in October 4th 2009 this moment is something I'll never forget. Oh and in London Wembley last June, the setlist was so good, and I laughed so much when Tré and Mike danced
GreenDayisAmazing Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Hmm I think I would have to say the one in Washington on July 3rd last year. I got to go to a totally different state to see my favorite band with my mom and for free (compliments to KFMA). That was my first Green Day and first seated concert(I always thought seated would be stupid and boring), turns out it was the best concert ever and Green Day makes the concert fun for everyone those lucky enough to get pit and those of us who had seats. They are amazing performers and let fans join them on stage and it's just so cool. Also i think it was better then the one in AZ because all the people by us were going crazy at the one in AZ the kids in front of us and the people seating were staring at us like we were Nimrods, but it was also fun because I was with my siblings and got to see their faces when Green Day was amazing and they didn't think seated concerts could be fun.
Laura! Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 My only show. July 14th 2009 at Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit. Such an amazing show.
Conspiracy. Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Berlin 07/10/09. Just because it was my first GD show ever, and I got into the soundcheck. I will always remember that moment when I walked in and the guys were just standing there and playing. I was kinda shocked, because I realized that they are real. Like they don't only exist on posters and on the internet. So I ran up to the barrier and just stared at them, my face probably looked like the whole time. It was so unreal, that that is the first time I see my big idols in real life, and I'm just about 2 meters away from them. Plus they played American Eulogy, 21st CB and King For A Day at that soundcheck, which was pretty cool. The show itself was amazing and I was there with one of my best friends, and we both were just having so much fun, it was just the perfect day.
justcause Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 The Bowery Ballroom, just after 21CB dropped. The venue was perfect - if I'd called out for where I wanted to hear these songs that I'd been dreaming with for so long, this would've been it - like an abandoned theater, full of ghosts, with the spectral Christian+Gloria skulls as a backdrop. There was no pyro, no fireworks, no confetti - the songs were still new, tentative and sensitive, and I was so yearning to hear them come out of the dark and into being. Of all the beautiful memory-pictures I have of that nite, the one that stands out is the one that aches - Billie Joe singing 21 Guns, his face splotched with the lights of camera-phones. It felt like such a violation - I wanted to go 'stop it, stop it, just be here in this moment'. YouTube couldn't own it, no matter how it tried - YouTube couldn't hold a fucking candle to it.
Punk-tastic32 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I've only been to the Singapore 01.14.10 show. I can still remember getting the tickets for my birthday and counting the days from there. That Thursday, I stared at the clock all through out class. When the final bell rang, I rushed home, inhaled my lunch changed my clothes and pestered my dad to leave for the stadium. I remember the cab ride, realizing I forgot my glasses! But that wasn't too big of an issue, because at the time my eyesight was alright without them. We got to the stadium and sat in line for about 20 min. until we realized we were in the line for the wrong pen! So I speed-walked as fast as I could while my dad was commenting on how fast was, my reply, "Well, I'm EXCITED!" We took turns buying food and walking around for the next few hours. At one point, I texted my friend saying "Help, I have to sit in this one spot for a few hours. I'm so bored!" And he thought I was in detention When everyone got up and started shuffling forward, my heart skipped a beat. It was ACTUALLY HAPPENING! We stood squished in the tunnel for another 10 min. Then when we got to the security check, they glanced in my small red bag, and gave me a pat check. When the guard felt my phone she paused and looked up at me, I yelled "Phone! Phone!" With breathless excitement over the cheering of thousands of other ecstatic fans. I ran towards the stage. The opening act Prima Donna, gave their all, but couldn't really hype up a crowd expecting rock gods. The Drunk Pink Bunny dancing to YMCA and chugging beers. Then, the lights dimmed. It was time. Everything after that was a blur. but some really special moments stand out. I pogo-jumped for almost the whole thing. I put my arms up for the opening song, I don't think I ever put them back down. Part because I didn't want to , part because I was too tightly pressed against other sweaty excited fans to have the room to manage such a task. I remember the barricade breaking, Taking low-quality videos with my phone that have my bad singing in them. I remember the super-soaker and my dad, in his Sublime shirt got SOAKED! Then there was the guest singer for Longview. He was so good, I was convinced he was a planned part of the show. At the end of the show, the lights came back on, we got some water from some of the people that were with the band or venue or whatever, and called a cab. I almost passed out on the ride home. The next day, despite having a sore throat, I bragged to all my friends (none of which like GD) and slept in a few classes. The next week, I get a raging fever and chills during my basketball game, forcing me to sit out, shivering in layers or my uniform. It has never been confirmed, but I think it was from a throat infection from the concert. I find a scab on my lower back, from where my shorts cut into my skin from jumping, it has now become a small piece of scar tissue. Every night, when I go to bed, I hope to relive the best night of my life again in my dream. Edit: some grammar mistakes PS-sorry it's so long.
Kaddi. Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Mainz on July 1st this year. It was just awesome. It was a hot summer day (maybe a bit too hot, but still better than too cold, right? ;-) ) and I was in the first row at the end of the catwalk. The Donots were one of the support bands and I absolutely love them, they totally rocked. Well... and Green Day had the best setlist ever. Going to Pasalacqua, Letterbomb, Maria, Murder City...aaaaand It's Fuck Time! It was just totally awesome.
JadedHaushinka Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Since I've only seen them once (unfortunately), I'd have to go with the one that was in Helsinki, Finland on June 8th this year. It was a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Words cannot describe what I felt during the whole concert.
alea84 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Ohhh that was in Mainz (Germany) at 01.07.10, 'cause: I was in the first row and had the luck that Billie Joe wants me on stage at "Are we the Waiting". Maybe he enjoyed my little placard i had written. it said: "Thank you for rocking the world", because he smiled as he read this and then he beckons me over to the stage. you can see a Video here: http://www.youtube.com/user/alea1084#p/f/11/eaW01RP2wvg Apart from that it was a really great show and the guys gave their best to entertain.I think they enjoyed playing there because the crowd was singing and screaming and there were a lot of pogo circles and everybody was jumping ap and down. so that sometimes BJ stopped just to listen or just to watch the crowd going "fucking" crazy. There were so great moments to think about und I will never forget this day for the rest of my life.
Eighty. Posted July 30, 2010 Author Posted July 30, 2010 Ohhh that was in Mainz (Germany) at 01.07.10, that concert is where Billie kicked ass in basket case, right?
Tragically Green Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 picture? Unfortunatley no. I didn't have a camera and my cell back then didn't take pictures. So my only memento is an autographed ticket stub.

marta_gs Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 the wembley stadium concert. last year I went to a Green Day concert (here in Portugal) and it was cool but I was on the back so I didn't enjoy the concert as I wanted. this year I went to wembley and it was peeeerfect
Rachel Nimrod Armstrong Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 My best Green Day concert was probz the first Green Day concert i had been to which was in Birmingham 28-10-09 it was soo AMAZING!! but Wembley Stadium 19-06-10 and Manchester 16-06-10 come in second in a tie 3 of the BEST nights of my whole life!!!
sara_gd Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Marlay Park, Dublin In Madrid I was really far away, so this one was like... wow. I really enjoyed Madrid, obvioustly, and it was my first Green Day concert but Marlay was... I don't know, it was just amazing. I was so close to them, and Mike gave me a pick, and they played when it's time! haha
Lyz Z Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 I have only been to one, but I absolutely love this story so I'm going to tell it in here It was THE MOST amazing show. Well, I didn't get pulled on stage or get to meet Green Day, but one of the funniest things I've ever experienced happened in the mosh pit. I was there with my dad, we were almost up against the barrier, and there were 3 massive biker guys shoving everyone around and basically being dicks. There was an old lady in the mosh pit, who would have been probably 65 years old, there with her grandson who had his arms around her and was basically trying to protect her from all the insane Green Day fans who were moshing and going nuts. One of the bikers pushed past her roughly, and she grabbed his arm, turned him to face her, and screamed "I'm not going to take anymore of your shit! Just fuck off, okay? FUCK OFF!" It actually worked. All three of them stopped and stared. In fact, everyone within earshot stared. Good. On. Her! That wasn't why it was amazing, but it cracks me up every time.
Isabel Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 that concert is where Billie kicked ass in basket case, right? yes, it was hilarious!

minorty13 Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I'm thinking that the Alpharetta show on August 9th is going to be the best Green Day concert for me, since it's going to be my first. That would make sense I've only been to one in SLC and had the worst seats in the world, but this one in August is gonna be AMAZING I WILL get pulled to play JOS!
heartscollide Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 19th December 2009. I had seen them the night before at the same venue and OH MY GOD they were so much better! They setlist was longer and had way more older songs. It felt more intimate for some reason. I guess that was because I had seating the first night and I got the barrier the seond night. The crowd was also waaaay more into the songs and it was really fucking loud.
