Just Kate Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 they have taught me not to be afraid of myself, not to give a shit as i used to, to enjoy being different from the rest and many many other things i'm really grateful for i've been a good disciple
ganis Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 very much like many other people has said.... I've learnt to not give a f.ck about what other think, now day's I am who I am, and I don't care if some people don't agree with me.. I'm also confident in being this person.. I've learnt to question everything.. I live my life my way, not anyone elses.. so, I think it is very hard to put down into words what GD has taught me because it is so much and in one way they've changed my life!
Lemonfries Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Green Day taught me to stand up for myself and be independant. I used to get teased a lot for my religious beliefs, and after I discovered Green Day, I was like "okay, i'm not gonna take any crap from NOBODY anymore!
petros Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 That you have to be individual and not care about what everybody else says! You have to be the minority and there's nothing bad with it...
sammykinz Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Green Day's taught me about individuality, and how it's an important thing to hold on to. There's nothing wrong with being yourself! And, they've also inspired me artistically, for my writing, and they've taught me that taking the road less travelled is a good thing.
Billie Kristy Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 I barely know where to start, but I'll keep it short this time, 'cause everyone else here seems to post the same things as what I am about to say. -- They just taught not to take shit from anybody, and just give them shit back, to be independant and most likely.. myself. Green Day made me more confident, and happier with the person I am. They sort of changed my view on life, and I'm still greatfull because of that.
Are We The Waiting? Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 to dress the way i do, listen to rock, play guitar and bass, and to not give a fuck. i quote, "You have the fucken power, we're the fucking leaders, don't let these bastards dictate your life." from bullet in a bible
AfterShock Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 To not care at all what anyone else thinks. It's funny, just listening to Green Day kinda did that for me, like how so many people rip on me for listening to them. Once I started ignoring people for that, it carried over into other things in life. And I couldn't be happier now. I thank them for that.
Lauren Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Billie taught me to enunciate my words properly while singing so other people can understand me. To not care at all what anyone else thinks. It's funny, just listening to Green Day kinda did that for me, like how so many people rip on me for listening to them. Once I started ignoring people for that, it carried over into other things in life. And I couldn't be happier now. I thank them for that. That's true for me, too. No one here likes them very much, and I used to get it pretty bad just for listening to them... now I really don't care. Although, it'd be nice to talk to more fans.
leacalifornia Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Green Day's taught me about individuality, and how it's an important thing to hold on to. There's nothing wrong with being yourself! many things... but this was most important to me at least.
Marsupial Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 "One light, one mind flashing in the dark blinded by the silence of a thousand broken hearts. For crying out loud, she screamed unto me--a free for all, fuck 'em all, you're your own site" -- Minority. That line has taught me to be proud of who I am, irregardless of what the rest of the world thinks. So what if I'm not on the majority's side? It's better to just act as an individual than one of a million.
Tom Higgs Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Green Day taught me that George Bush was a dick! Ha! Oh and they also taught me that I can listen to whatever music I want to, without having to worry about anyone or anything.
Jenny95 Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 They taught me to do what i want and what i like to do , not to give a fuck to others and that no one can tell me who I have to be just cause they think it's not good to be differnt
Juliette Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Idk they've really taught me anything tbh. Maybe opened my mind to certain things or sparked interest in something that I've then gone and learnt about but as for most of the things peopkle have said so far they're just kinda things everyone learns as they grow up
Metanoia Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 They taught me a lot of things. They're kinda my teachers of life if you want it like that. Before I got into them, I was a little shy girl with no personality and who always did what she was told. But than in late 06 I just turned 13, I started to get into them And first they were just another cool band for me. You have to know I was very mainstream before. I heard what everyone heard,I dressed like everyone dressed and I said things I know the people want to hear from me. I had such a fear of being different so I always changed for others. But after about a year I began realizing what Green Day actually mean to me and that I couldn`t live on like that anymore, so I started to change my life. I started to understand what all that (back then) "punk thing" is about. And I bloody loved it! I saw that in this part you can just be yourself. No one will be against you. No one will beat you because you're "different". No one would treat you like a misfit. It felt AMAZING! But I have to admit, I took it too far back than thinking everything who wasnt my opinion was against me so i slowed it down a bit. Green Day brought me closer to my friends. I had many amazing experiences with m,y friends through Green Day. For what I can say NOW about me they made me a better person. I now respect every person. I have my own way of thinking and fucking am who I am. i don't change my fucking life for others anymore. (You gotta know I LOVE Road to AScceptance because its kinda the story of my life.) but I also listen to people and take critism serious. I think I now tare my life the best I can. I am the best person I can be and all because of Green Day. They brought me the lighted change in my life. They showed me to never give up. They make me feel strong and unique. They tell me that it's alright to be your own person. They helped me to go through hard times and I know I can't loose them. They always cheer me up. But most of all they reach me with their lyrics, they help me to understand myself better and they're always there for me and helped me a lot to lead my way so far. Thank you Green Day.
armatage Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Don't take any shit from people. And actually get what you want without changing yourself or selling out. And: it's time to be yourself now, not when the pressures go away and you're away from all of these people who you wanted to get TOLD.
STBUNNY Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 everythings in my life had changed since i know them we all know and i know everybody's life had changed when u become Green Day's fan
Ally Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 they taught me that there is more to life. The made me see that i had stuff to live for despite everything that was wrote. The made me who I am, taught me that i didnt need to be someone else, i should just be myself and if people didnt like me like that then tough.
Take me to Christie Road Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 They taught me less guilt, more booze.
kristinsinferno Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 green day taught me to play guitar, bass, drums, and to sing. NO REALLY! i started with guitar and just kind of watched billies hands and figured it out. then, moving to bass was similar, and less difficult because i knew how to play guitar, but again... i was just watching mike. finally i don't know how the fuck i did it, but i learned to play drums by tre cool (i'm still getting better... i've only done drums for a year) and i recently asked my mother for voice lessons and she said no so i've been listening to the accapela tracks and trying to recreate then EXACTLY .if i ever meet any of them, I'm going to tell them this.
Jason Freeze Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Green Day taught me to not accept candy from creepy people in the Warning video and what dookie means.
