Hermione Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 ^ Thanks from me too . I've heard many quotes from that interview but I'd never seen the whole thing. The Adrienne quote - "Adrienne is the only woman i'll ever love" - the only place I ever remember reading that was in an issue of Top Of The Pops like, five years ago. So yeah XD but it was simply that, the second part of the quite was definitely made up. Oh and that rather disturbing Tre one, came from an interview/article with the band while they were here for V festival in 1998. I read it somewhere online a while back. That's also where Billie's "Tre, you might get laid!" quote about the All Saints is from. To go even further into that, that's how the quote came up. Billie said that because he'd just found out they were playing the festival too, and then the interviewer said that one of them was actually pregnant, so Tre was all, "Great, then I won't even have to use a condom". And that's when Mike popped up with that wonderful little quote. Brilliant! Nice to know how all those quotes tied together
Radioactive1 Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I know where this is from It's from an VH1 interview about the making of 'dookie' from 2002 VH1: So what's it like now for Adrienne to be married to you and your biggest record is filled with songs about another woman? Billie Joe: I know she likes that song! I've been married for almost eight years, so Adrienne and I are comfortable enough that I've had a past. She's got a past, too. She was engaged, had boyfriends, had flings, and I'm comfortable with that, otherwise I wouldn't be married to her. Adrienne is the only woman I'll ever love. here's the full interview: click omg thanks so much for that
Comedy & Tragedy Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 School is practice for the future, and practice makes perfect, but nobody's perfect, so why practice? I don't get why people think that it's Billie who says it. I can understand why people think it's Tré, since you hear him say it in Egos & Icons, but, Tré actually says "Like Mike always says, practice makes perfect...." Here's the interview where Mike says it. (3:56)
Hermione Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 ^ I think that's one of those phrases that they've all said at one time or another, I've definitely heard Billie say it too. Once those boys have a phrase/saying they like, they all tend to say it lots of times
elisa Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Yeah, I have heard Billie Joe saying it as well. Once those boys have a phrase/saying they like, they all tend to say it lots of times haha yes, I noticed this as well

And I don't know, GDA says it was Billie, and GDA is THE website about Green Day.. xD ^ I think that's one of those phrases that they've all said at one time or another, I've definitely heard Billie say it too. Once those boys have a phrase/saying they like, they all tend to say it lots of times like... y'know? Reading the VH1 article... There is not a band you can mention that we haven't kicked their ass on stage at one time or another. I thought it was Tré the one that said that!

farley drexel hatcher Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 It's not a quote but I was always wondering where the bit of info about Tre being godfather to Billie's kids comes from. I know i've never heard it anywhere

Hermione Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 ^ Yeah I have a hard time believing that without a direct quote from the band about it. I can't really see them as chirstening/godparent types, especially given their comments about attending a friend's christening and it inspiring East Jesus Nowhere! I think I might have read it in the same book that said Tre had legally changed his name to Tre Cool - which isn't true. Maybe that explains it? Or maybe one of them made a joke about it and it got misconstrued. Pretty sure if it was true we'd have seen a quote about it. Anyone know where Yeah fuck me! I wish all of you could fuck me! is from? It's obviously from a show (probably during Hitchin A Ride), but every time I see it at the top of GDA I wonder which show. I wanna find a video of it
*Maria_Laura* Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Yes ! you're so right ! I knew Tre said it somewhere and that somewhere was Egos and Icons and that he said that someone else says it and I forgot that that someone else was Mike ! lol confusing ! xD But yeah I can't understand where they got that Billie said that and most people believe Billie said it too :/ School is practice for the future, and practice makes perfect, but nobody's perfect, so why practice? I haven't seen it in years not sure if she still has it but I'm pretty sure that it was a concert in Europe during the warning era I believe. ^ Yeah I have a hard time believing that without a direct quote from the band about it. Fanny. Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Hey I just found out where Tré’s quote about satan comes from. It’s in the last part of this interview. http://www.greenday.net/media/articles/Herald.html I also found scans of an interview I’ve never read before. This is the one where Tré says that he wants to survive an avalanche http://www.greenday.net/circusmagazine.html

I haven't seen it in years not sure if she still has it but I'm pretty sure that it was a concert in Europe during the warning era I believe. Thanks! That narrows it down quite a bit. Might have a look at some videos that fit that description. Hey I just found out where Tré’s quote about satan comes from. Thank you so much for finding these, never seen either of them before And I haven't read it yet, but that photo of Tre is fantastic You're welcome! There's a ton of old interviews there http://www.greenday.net/articles.html Tré's photo is indeed awesome XD
elisa Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I was reading this interview and found an interesting quote.. But there are limits as Billie Joe points out. "A role in the Simpson's? I'll leave that to the red hot chilli peppers," he says scathingly. "It's a funny show but I wouldn't want to market myself in that direction." lol. and the "I want to wash your grandmother!" quote is also from this interview

I think I'll spend my weekend reading interviews, like Hermione haha thanks to both of you! I had to post it here because there are too much good interviews in there. And it’s always nice to read stuff from past eras to know their point of view on certain things. Like Billie said on a radio show during the AI era that there wouldn’t be a broadway show coming out for this album or that he didn't want it turned into a play, if I remember correctly. There's also the quote Elisa posted about the simpsons lol

And yeah ever since the musical came out I'd been trying to remember where Billie said that, and I found it the other day! It was the Fook WKQX-FM 2004 radio interview (in the GDC downloads section). He said There's no broadway thing that's gonna happen. Over my dead body. Hehehe

And that’s awesome, because they’re not afraid of doing things they never thought they’d do. They always push themselves in new directions and I love that.

Guest Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I once had sex with a 250-pound woman in a Honda Civic, which, let’s be honest, isn’t a big car. I was only 18, but I don’t regret it, not for one second. What an experience. Did Billie really say this or is this just bullshit? 'Meanwhile between note-perfect rehersal takes of new single 'Minority', Billie was telling me about one of the scarier aspects of his fame. His notoriety. "I had some girl threatening to assassinate my wife this year" he confided, "She said she wanted to assassinate her so that she could become my new wife and raise my children instead. Did I take her up on the offer? No, I actually called out a Private Detective to find out who this person was. It turned out to be an artist wanted us to use her artwork and that was thier way of trying to get me to take notice. Scary. What else can you say to that but 'fuck off'?" I know this one's from a book, anyone know which one?
