warding_off_regrets Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Is anyone using the Port Authority Bus Terminal for in/out of the city? And uh...how much do cabs in NYC charge these days? Thanks in advance to anyone who replies
Mari91 Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Is anyone using the Port Authority Bus Terminal for in/out of the city? And uh...how much do cabs in NYC charge these days? Thanks in advance to anyone who replies heres info about cab fares http://www.nyc.gov/html/tlc/html/passenger/taxicab_rate.shtml $2.50 to start and every minute or so it goes up $0.40
GDM Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Is anyone using the Port Authority Bus Terminal for in/out of the city? And uh...how much do cabs in NYC charge these days? Thanks in advance to anyone who replies It will cost you probably $15 (maybe more) or so to go to the 92nd Street Y from Port Authority, depending on the time of day. You can also take the Times Square/Grand Central Shuttle from the Port Authority at Times Square over to Grand Central and then take the 4/5/6 to 86th Street, which will cost you much less. Here are the directions from the 92nd Street Y. By Subway Take the Lexington Avenue 4, 5 or 6 train to 86th Street. 92Y is located five blocks north on Lexington Avenue. The 6 train also stops at 96th Street. The Y is located four blocks south on Lexington Avenue. See a detailed subway map at the New York City Transit website.
warding_off_regrets Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Thanks so much to both of you I called the box office and they said that these interviews generally run an hour and a half. I guess if I end up going, I'd be going alone and I'm a little wary of being in an unfamiliar city at 9:00pm or later. So I would be looking for someone to tag along with

jenne! Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Hi! i am coming down from Boston for this and also to see AI - would love to meet up with people and also, if anyone is needing a ride to or from Boston I have room in my car, I'd be happy to help anyone out. i'm going to be heading back that night, for anyone who has to be at work Monday morning (feh!) So very psyched for this
warding_off_regrets Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Aw damn I don't think I'll be going. Public transportation out of the city is screwing me over .
Mommy's Little Nightmare Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 This just occurred to me earlier, but I know there's at least a few of us going who haven't yet seen the musical. Given the fact that Michael Mayer and Billie Joe will be talking about the musical, wouldn't it be cool for a few of us to meet up earlier that day to see the matinee of AI? It would be awesome to have the show so fresh in our minds when we hear them talk about it. Btw there ARE shows that day even though it's a Sunday, the matinee is at 3 PM. I was actually planning to do that.
jenne! Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I was actually planning to do that. me too! this is an excellent idea!
Mommy's Little Nightmare Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 me too! this is an excellent idea! Looks like this is gonna be another round of GDC meet-ups!!! I had fun at the one I went to on opening night of AI...
jenne! Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Looks like this is gonna be another round of GDC meet-ups!!! I had fun at the one I went to on opening night of AI... I was wondering how many people were going that day and if anyone wanted to meet up - the recent meet ups i have had at shows were so fun i'm going to buy my ticket for the show this weekend. i may go saturday and sunday just because. I may not get back to NYC for a while.
Velocity Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I was actually planning to do that. me too! this is an excellent idea! So it looks like I'm probably going to see the matinee that day too - but I'm probably gonna be going by myself cause I'm about to get tickets and all my friends are bailing on me All of us NEED to meet up that day at the musical!
jenne! Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 So it looks like I'm probably going to see the matinee that day too - but I'm probably gonna be going by myself cause I'm about to get tickets and all my friends are bailing on me All of us NEED to meet up that day at the musical! I agree! and if my friend decides she's not going I'll have an extra ticket in my group, you're welcome to join us then. I thought I had a ticket for the 92Y but it looks like I may not - does anyone know of someone selling an extra? (thanks)
St3veHimself Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I really wish I could go Too far away.
Joy of suburbia. Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 So it looks like I'm probably going to see the matinee that day too - but I'm probably gonna be going by myself cause I'm about to get tickets and all my friends are bailing on me All of us NEED to meet up that day at the musical! It also seems like I'm gonna go see it that day as well. My friend's mom works on Broadway and she's gonna hook me up with some tickets. Fuck. Yes. So, yes. I think a GDC meet up is a must. Seriously...it's a must.
