Her name is Sara - she and I went to that show together, and she was standing next to me when she got pulled up. I was holding all her stuff ! She's the sweetest person I know, and I was SO happy for her!!!

AH. so i was right. I kept thinking it was Sara but then i questioned myself. It was amazing to hang out with you guys that day too. it was unexpected when she got pulled up

and all of you are so lucky!

i would love to be pulled on stage.

The show was Vancouver BC, July 4th 09

I'm planning on showing up to the Hartford, CT show super early so I can get up close and I'm going to bring a big sign that says "I'll do anything to sing Longview onstage" and hope that I make it.

Question to all that have been onstage: Is it better to stand near the runway or near the actual stage?

i wish i did :P

I tried it with a "I know longview" sign but some nice people destroyed it, Mike saw how they did it and he looked at me with a sad face

I was chosen for east Jesus nowhere... I'm so gutted... The sercurity pulled the guy behind me out even though Billie said HER! Mike mouthed sorry. Anyway it was only the 3rd song and I was on the barrier by mike and had good interaction with Tre so that makes it seem a little better.

Even though I've never been onstage, or to a concert yet, reading all these experiences makes me really happy. :D

reading all these stories kinda gives me a warm fuzzy feeling :D my jealousy is outweighed by the fact that I know that every single GDCer who has been on stage completely deserves it, because we all adore green day more than the average person :happy:

Im new to GDC but I did get onstage this tour :)

Concert: Dec. 04, 2009 Perth, Australia Burswood Dome

Username: east cc nowhere

Song: Longview

my storey:

The wait for over 10 hours in 37 degrees Celsius heat was defiantly worth it! A fair way into the concert those ever memorable base notes began to fill the arena. Longview. Billie wondered across the stage asking the audience “who knows this song? Who knows the lyrics to this song and can come up and sing it right now?” He pointed at me – my heart skipping a beat as he said “do you know it? Hey she knows it right her!” then he said the best thing anyone has ever told me…

“ALL RIGHT GIRL GET YOUR ASS UP ONSTAGE!!!!!!!!”

The moment he said this, the security guards begin to heave me out of the pit. Everyone tried to push me up and I was slowly birthed out of the moshpit.

I try to jump up onto the stage and as I fell down, the security guard grabbed me by the pants and hauled me up. All I can say is thank god I was wearing underwear and a sturdy pair of shorts!!! I clamber up and immediately run over to Billie and he embraced me in a huge hug! At this point the audience all go “aaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwww!!!” except for my friend who I was with who was screaming like a mad women!!

He asked me if I knew the song and then handed me the microphone. Bad idea!! Away I went singing and running from him to Mike and back again! As the chorus started I ran and jumped down the catwalk screaming the lyrics. For what I lacked in singing ability I like to think I made up for in energy! I go over to mike who looked rather amused at my antics and Billie joins us. Later I run down the catwalk and Billie joins me and we sing together. Him playing Blue and me with my arm around him. I kiss him on the cheek and to my surprise he kisses me back. My life was officially complete.

He then let me go and I gave him back the microphone. The security guards helped me down and I ran along the side of the moshpit hi-fiving people on my way. I was the best night of my life and I will never forget it! Someone on twitter even commented on my ‘talent’ saying “looking for the video of the drunk girl who cant sing for shit”

here is a video :) im the first girl in the red shirt :D

Song: Jesus of Surburbia

"Ok now this is where things get interesting. I need a guitarist. Not just for a 3 chord song....more for like a four, five, six chord song. See, the song is called Jesus of Surburbia..."

I have never felt so much adrenaline and emotion in my life then i did in the moments (which felt like an eternity) in which Billie was looking for a guitarist that night. It was my only chance and I took it and never looked back. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought/still think it would happen to me. And it did. With a neon yellow sign and some determination, I got up on that stage and played for nine and a half minutes and played the song that saved my life. Everything about it still feels like a dream and probably always will. Walking down the catwalk and seeing the guys, knowing that I wasn't only about to meet them but yet play a song with them in the world's most famous arena at a sold out show...I had to blink a couple of times to realize it was all reality. And when it all ended, I wasn't the one praising the band that saved my life, they were the ones praising me. It still all feels like a dream. And I think it always will.

Also, Larry Livermore wrote a very kind blog about it on his website because he attended the show that night.

I sang/yelled horribly the first two verses of Longview.

It was so amazing  I remember sometime in the middle of the show, Mike just happened to see my sign "I sing the shit outta Longview" and he seemed amused by it, and he fuckin nodded at me. :woot:

Come Longview, Billie read my sign out loud and pulled me up, and he wore the Guinness hat I gave him  During the second verse, he put the hat on me  I felt so stupid cause it fell over my eyes :P Unfortunately, when I threw the hat back to the rest of the GDCers so they could look after it for me, some jerk next to them got it from them. Still mad about that :pinch:

Sequel: The girl who had thrown bunny ears to Billie (that he later put on me) posted on a youtube video of me about how sad she was to lose them. I was able to get her address and send the bunny ears back to her <feel good moment!>.

J'net, why aren't there more people like you? :(

Show: Oct. 20, 2009 Belfast, Northern Ireland Odyssey Arena

I got pulled up to sing Longview....the best part about it was that he let me sing the whole fucking song. Not many people get to sing the whole song

And at the end, I caused a mini Billie tantrum when he took the microphone back, because he said: "You wouldn't even let me sing my own damn song!" It was amazing

(he claimed that I "allegedly" stole the mic from him and wouldn't let him sing with me.....lies Billies, lies!!!) it was and still is the best fucking moment of my whole life. No one will ever understand the importance of it, it was something that even I can't explain properly. I think about it every single day and shake my head wondering how I ended up being so fucking lucky. I got to sing the song that my fucking favourite band were playing along to behind me. 90% of the time I don't believe it actually happened; even looking at the photos/videos, I think "But that can't be me singing with Green Day..." I can't thank them enough for giving me the best and most memorable night of my whole life <3

Here is the photo that I found lurking on GD.com the next day. I think it sums things up pretty well

( Gotta love Chris Dugan  )

 Awwww, that's so sweet! I know how you feel because I have so many things that Billie has thrown back to me when I used to take sunglasses and scarves for him. Then there were a couple that I never saw again, and I wished at the time that I'd gotten them back. What's better than having those things, though, is that we have photos and videos we can look at and see ourselves ON STAGE WITH BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG AND GREEN DAY!!! I wouldn't trade those for ANYTHING!!!

And I was so happy you got pulled up at Marlay Park!!! That was just awesome, even though I didn't know it was you at the time :).
