After the demo stage finding a producer is pretty much the first step into making an album. This is good news because it shows they're starting to seriously think about their new album but they could be booking a producer for sometime next year.

Something else that I don't think has been said yet -- The current tour and having a hit show on Broadway seems to have lit up a real shitload of creative energy in the band, and even 18 months into it you still see and feel it when you see them live. It would seem to me that they're taking advantage of this, and letting it carry them through the development of some material for the next album "now", rather than settling back and thinking "we'll get to it later after the tour's over and we have some time for a break"....if there was something to be learned from the 5-year hiatus between AI and 21CB, it probably would be along the lines that after you've taken some downtime, it can sometimes be awful hard to get your motivation back again. I think it's fantastic that they're this far along in the creative process for new material at this point, and I think they're feeding off the energy that the tour's and AIOB's successes are generating.

I sure hope we don't have to wait so long this time! It doesn't look like we will if they are already this far with demos and looking for producers. I'm gonna guess somewhere near 1 year and a half, but I'm sure I am wrong XD

I think I might be the only one who really hopes its a Foxboro album. :ermm:

For all you know, a lot of their demo material could be Foxboro material. Or Network material. Is Omega 3000 still in planning, anyone? :ermm:

As for producers, I liked Rob Cavollo doing it most of the time but Butch Vig, he took it to a new area and was a new sound tbh. I liked that it went a different direction in style and sound, which was part of 21st Century Breakdown listening experience to be honest.

That being said, if they find another producer, it would be interesting to see what sound they get out of THAT. :)

I hope the new album comes out soon, but it doesn't have to, I'm fine with Green Day taking their time to make the best album they possibly could. That's what I love about Green Day, they take their time instead of rushing it.

Seconded. Also, if it comes out in 2012, at least we all get one last great Green Day album before we all die. In flames. :)

I think Green Day should do what Muse done with the Resistance and self produce it. Muse made The Resistance sound awesome, it has got a rich sound. Comparing 21st CB to American Idiot you can tell 21st CB sounds slightly undercooked :P, so to speak. Some parts of songs can sound tinny and as someone previously said the bass cant be heard as much.

I cant wait for the next album. I hope Green Day continue to do stuff they haven't tried before, but I also hope they stick to their roots and let the songs grow out of that. I think the next album will be brilliant regardless of who produces it. I would say it will be released about early to mid 2012 between March and August :P

I'd be down with something completely different. As much as I love AI and 21CB, I'm not that into rock operas and big, grandiose songs. Green Day is the only band whom I still enjoy after they went that route. Also, I like their old stuff, but I hate it when musicians "go back to basics" and shit like that. You've already done it once so cut the cord and move on. Create something new, ya know? And Green Day has always done that. I trust them to impress me.

Funny thing is, I am a producer!? Should i get in contact?

go for it. as you said, you never know :)

I really want a FHT album... Even more than a GD one..

Then, they also talked about doing an EP or something with a few songs! That would be a nice thing to do in the next gap xD

I'm not sure who to contact. I'm thinking possibly the label's A&R guys? Any ideas?

Someone help this man with the contacts! I'm behind his goal 100%. ;)

Psst, SetOnOverdrive ... If you can't find the contact info, ask Andres! He speaks to the band's reps and such on a regular basis, pretty much.

i won't keep my hopes up for a new album next year. it'll be a lot harder to follow up 21st CB with a new rock opera.

maybe 2012.

 You know they do more than that, right?

@SetOnOverdrive: If they would take you up on that offer, you'd the hero of GDC (well, depends on how the album would come out.)

I really don't think this is about The Network/Foxboro Hot Tubs album like someone here hopes. It says that GREEN DAY is looking for a new producer. I doubt that they're making a public announcement like that if they're looking new producer for their side projects.

Tbh I'm really sure we don't have to wait another five years. At least I hope.

Well, Green Day aren't exactly known for rushing out albums, and I don't want them to either, but it would be pretty sweet if we didn't have to wait another five years...

A new Foxboro album would be class but I'd rather see a new Green Day one :)

Haha, I love you guys! Just thinking about it, wow. What a fucking experience. I think Green Day are the type of guys who would take on an unknown/young producer right? Someone with Fresh ideas?

I need contacts! Someone must have them!? I just need addresses? Emails? Of anyone who matters.

BTW, Sampy, love your signature pic, it's so "honey, i'm home". Haha, you are officially my new idol! :P

Gah, I'm so excited but if this all really starts to happen in the very near future I will be beyond words!!! But I'm not too worried about what producer they choose, when they changed producers to Butch Vig and it all worked out great, so it should be all good XD

Really? I wasn't really sure about the whole Butch Vig thing. I prefer Rob Covallo.

I've just realised how hilarious the description of this thread is;

"New ALbum May Come SOnner Than Thought:D"

Personally I hope it comes it SOnner rather than LAtter.

I think we should just wait (overexcitement is terrible if you have to wait then :shifty: )but i'm sure it'll be great :whistle
