DecanoLP Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Is Paper Lanterns about her too? Because this song has one of the best lyrics I've ever seen...
Fuzz Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I'm moving this back to GD Chat. I think GD Music is good for a place to talk about specific songs, since this is more of a "collection" of the same songs already in GD Music, we can just keep it here.
Beathe. Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Is Paper Lanterns about her too? Because this song has one of the best lyrics I've ever seen... Nope.
Anita_GD Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Mike did.... I was unaware of this. Are you sure? *googles* When it's time or 2000LYA are probably my favourite songs Billie has written about Adie...such beautiful lyrics oh and redundant how the hell could I forget
Ellenkc Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Mike did.... In a Fuse interview they said it was Billie and Mike who wrote it
Izzard Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 In a Fuse interview they said it was Billie and Mike who wrote it oh. I see, half right Do you have the interview
Punx89 Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 happy anniversary!! 80 & 2,000 lightyears away my favorite songs
leah_pau Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Yay!! Happy sixteen years 80 is definitely my favorite song i like the part of "80 please keep taking me away" is so lovely
Pedestrian9394 Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Church On Sunday. It's my favorite Green Day song in general, and I think the lyrics are so genuine. =)
theviridiansea Posted July 2, 2010 Author Posted July 2, 2010 You know what I love about Billie's love songs in general? In every song he writes, he sounds even more in love than the last. Now that's true love.
Guest Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 when its time is beautiful, and redundant has always been one of my favorites.
theviridiansea Posted July 2, 2010 Author Posted July 2, 2010 You're right, but HOW THE HELL DO YOU KNOW that? hahaha, okay so I'm 15 and I obviously haven't experienced true love myself, but marriages either: a) start off strong and end within a few years, or b) last a long time but the spouses are bored with/hate each other. When I look at recent pictures of Billie and Adrienne together they look so completely in love, even after 16 years. And it's quite rare to see that.
Hanamay Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I like Last Night On Earth, because it's so unapologetic in regards to how cliche everything is that he's singing, and that's the beauty of love. You don't have to apologize for just being head-over-heels crazy in love with someone Aah this sums up how I view it
Hanamay Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 You guys are actually making me well up I'm going to be really lame tonight and have an evening of Adrienne and Billie Joe love songs tonight : It's myself and my boyfriend's 4 years 6 month anniversary in two weeks so I'm feeling pretty soppy
Bastard of 1967 Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Yeah good call. Redundant is maybe a song that the YOUNGER generation of fans don't COMPLETELY get but after your with someone for say 5-10 years there becomes a transcendence of feelings from that all encompassing puppy love stage to a new sort of love that is spiritual and that is hard to label as the same thing that you called love when you first met. I always loved the lost for words line of that song for that reason. The video for Redundant is also awesome -- I love how it starts off simple, then the background activity keeps repeating itself, adding a couple new elements on each iteration...so metaphoric for life with someone becoming routine while getting crazier and more complex as time goes on. Then in the closing seconds of the vid, Billie picks up the daily paper and walks off the set with it, breaking the pattern -- and the anonymous 60's-esque female character can't handle it and shrieks. Epic. There's a good, older thread in SOTW discussing it by the way....
Tubbie Head Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Aww Happy anniversary you two *.* My favourite song he has written about Adie, is definitely 80
AndrewW91 Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 "When I come around" That made me giggle. I'd say 2000 Light Years Away... Cause it's one of my favorite songs anyway.
Lu_S Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Happy Anniversary, Billie Joe and Adrienne. My favorite song that Billie wrote for Adie is definitely Redundant.
Hanamay Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 My favourite is Good Riddance I joke, I joke You're four years in and still celebrating months??? That's pretty sweet. Aaah we're silly! We only really celebrate half years and full years now..we used to celebrate weeks
Shaekwon Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Definitely Church on Sunday. It just gets to me. Its like the emotion in that song is so strong it reaches out & punches you dead in the face.
