I can't understand why so many people hate this song. It's so amazing... Together with Platypus maybe the most angry songs they have ever done. But this is cool :D

Love the Astoria performance :)

Such a great song. Thats one of the reasons I love Nimrod. It demonstrates their heardest music and their softest music.

Pretty much the only green day song i really don't like. I don't know what it is about it, but i don't like it at all

That's okay. I think one reason so many people don't like it is that it's SO different from a lot of their other songs. So for a Green Day fan to NOT like it makes some kind of sense :).

I love listening to this song when i am angry with someone. The other week i got really pissed off at my sixth form teacher and a manager on the same day, and i had this song in my head for the rest of the day. I even posted it on my blog, because at the time it really represented how i was feeling. It's not usually a song i will listen to if i am in a normal mood though.

I'm taking it you mean Good Riddance comes right after Take Back? ...which isn't true either, KFAD is still in between.....or do you mean on some live thing? I'm confused! xD

Wait, did my iTunes eff up? For me it goes Good Riddance, Take Back, then KFAD...

Well, I can assure you it's Take Back, KFAD, Good Riddance (and then Prosthetic Head and then the CD's over)

Best angry song ever :D. Pure intense rage. And it's delivered with some absolutely killer lines

You pushed me once too far again

I'd love to break your fucking teeth

Stick a knife in the center of your back

Love that. And the way he spits out the chorus is so intense. I like how the song's really short, it's like all that anger is compressed down ready to explode, and it all bursts out in little over a minute.

I don't think it's that different from other Green Day songs. There's already a lot of variety and experimenting with different styles in their music. And they have lots of other songs that express intense anger. Take Back is the most extreme example and the chorus is pretty unique, but I think it fits with the rest of Green Day's stuff just fine. Especially on an album with as much variety as Nimrod.

I love this song. It makes me feel good whenever I'm pissed at someone.

I understand that many GD fans don´t like this song. Cuz its just not "GD style"...

And thats what i love so much about it! That they can play music that people dont "qualify" as their style, and still be totally themselves! :D;)

Two years before when I loved metal and hard music this song was one of my favourite Green Day songs...

I still like it a lot now and when I'm angry it makes you relax cause it's like expressing your anger with this song...

I prefer to call this song 'TAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE BUUUUUUUUUUUACK'

me and a group of GDCers sung it at kareoke once like that xD

funniest thing

It's the best angry song, indeed. The lyrics are great, too.

I, however, don't listen to it often because there's also something I don't really like about it.

I love Take Back so much. It's very different from other Green Day songs and it's really punk-ish.. I wish they still played it live, I'd so be blown away.

Take Back is perfect for people like me who could never say those harsh things in real life, but sometimes really, really want to. On certain days, it's medicinal.

You know - that's a good point. I could never say those things, either. Maybe that's one reason I love this song so much.

Yeah, growing up I was taught that good (Catholic) girls NEVER say hateful things, and vulgar language is for people with small vocabularies...so now I get great pleasure from singing Take Back (and other songs like it) at top volume when I'm alone in the car. One of the many gifts Green Day gives us....

I LOVE this song. And not like a  love, more like a punch-my-fist-in-the-air kinda love, lol. When it comes up on my iPod, I wonder how something so angry gives me such a huge smile. Just one of the reasons I love Nimrod so much! I always have to hit 'repeat' - once is not enough. It seems like it goes by too quickly - and yeah, it is only a little over a minute.

It's like an outburst of pent-up raw emotion coming out thru this one minute rant - like he's letting it all out. How cool to be able to do that with a song! I agree it doesn't sound like him, but maybe because he doesn't usually express himself in this way. This is obviously more in your face, not the subtle word-play that he usually uses.

(Angeline described this song once, and I've always appreciated the wording she used. Maybe she can repeat exactly what it was she said, but it had something to do with vomiting up the words - very cool analogy!)

i completely agree:D i love this song because-espeially if your angry- you can just listen to this song ad get so much out just jumping around or screaming the words or even just by listeining to it.
