bat-chen Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 ^ I'm positive. I wonder what they will sing? I hope it's not going to be 21 guns. I love this song but I want something else.
Sanity Loan Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 ^ I'm positive. I wonder what they will sing? I hope it's not going to be 21 guns. I love this song but I want something else. It would make sense to perform LOTAG since it is their current single and everything.... but I doubt that will happen though. The only smart performance was EJN at the VMAs.....
petros Posted June 6, 2010 Posted June 6, 2010 I hope it will be only Green Day and not the musical They should play LOTAG!!It's their latest single and they haven't promoted it at all. They don't even play it to their lives! Makes you feel like they regretted for choosing this song uh?

The only smart performance was EJN at the VMAs..... LOTAG/She's A Rebel/St. Jimmy? Like in the musical? That would be awesome! But I would love to see them just do LOTAG too, it's such a fun song! Guaranteed to have everyone on their feet!
Foxboro Holiday Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 So if it's confirmed that they will preform there shouldn't you change the title to Green Day preforming at the Tonys?
dirnt286 Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 It is totally possible for them to fly in from Europe if it on June 13th. They have a show on the 12th and the next show in on June16th. That's 4 days. I have to admit though, flying in from Europe for such a short time and then to fly back seems awfully tiring. And crazy.

I'm sure if it happens they'll be on a nice jet where they can get some sleep. It's possible. We'll see what happens. Like I said, I can't see Billie Joe not wanting to be there. Greenday.com has a splash page on the Tonys that says, "Green Day is set to take the stage." Whatever that means.
elanorelle72 Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 It said in the article "likely to perform with the cast" which means he doesn't know what he's talking about (and "likely" is a word denoting assumption). Sorry guys, I'll be at the Tony's so I wan them there but nope. want to meet up before hand? I am thinking of getting a meet up started
plaid ducky Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 The cast will be performing at the Tonys (it's stupid if they don't). They'll be doing "American Idiot" (the Berkeley version) so it may be possible that instead of the show's house band, that it'll be Green Day.

plaid ducky Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 How do you know, was this confirmed? Which part? The musical is nominated for "Best Musical" so it's kind-of given that the cast will perform. As for the song, a cast member mentioned that that's what they were performing, "American Idiot" (the Berkeley version). As for Green Day performing, I said that "it was possible," not saying that that's happening; it's an option since all the reports say "performing with" or "along side" the cast so I don't think LOTAG will be an option, quite frankly. I was just speculating that everyone else in this thread.
Sanny Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I really hope they won't be there physically. It IS possible to fly from Austria to NY in such a short time, but Green Day are playing on Nova Rock from 09:40 to 00:40. I just checked the Austrian Airlines and the only flight from Vienna to NY seems to be at 11:05 am (they would arrive at 2pm in NY, local time). Which means, they have less than 6 hours to get over the jet lag (which is impossible) and get ready for the performance. Sorry, but this just seems so insane and....unhealthy Even if they fly by another plane at another time, they would be so damn jet lagged. My schoolmates and I were in England once, which is a time difference from only 1 hour. And I was completely fucked for the whole week. Now imagine what it means to get over a time difference from 6 hours after a 2 hour long set at a festival and a 9-hour flight AND then trying to perform. Really, it's just insane...or I'm way too worried about the guys lol
watsername182 Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 ^^ The boys have been doing this for 20 years now, I doubt a little jet leg is going to do them any harm. Ooh, I quite like the idea of the cast performing Last Of The American Girls/She's A Rebel/St Jimmy with the band. I'm really, really, really hoping for a medley of songs. Though as long as I get to see/hear John Gallagher Jr perform, I'm happy. If the band end up physically being at the awards I'm going to be ecstatic.

GDM Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 want to meet up before hand? I am thinking of getting a meet up started Suzanne, just tell me when and where. I think I'm going to hang out at the red carpet for a bit, so it will be fun to meet up at some point. Too bad I don't have an extra $200 to see the awards!
Hermione Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Nice! Looking forward to it. Someone should change the name of this thread now it's confirmed (and Green Day not just Billie Joe).
Zalex Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Suzanne, just tell me when and where. I think I'm going to hang out at the red carpet for a bit, so it will be fun to meet up at some point. Too bad I don't have an extra $200 to see the awards! I actually only work til 2pm that day and I'm sad I missed all the AI premiere madness in the city while I was in school but I'd love to meet up too just for fun even if Green Day wont be there themselves!
elanorelle72 Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 I'll start a Tony Awards meet up group for those going to the tonys or staying round to be part of the fun:) Suzanne
lizziebix Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 This is Tre on Chicago radio this morning and he confirms they are flying in: Tre on WTMX confirming Tony visit
Tubbie Head Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 This is Tre on Chicago radio this morning and he confirms they are flying in: Tre on WTMX confirming Tony visit wow that's inpressive =0 Thanks for sharing hmmm.. I'm expecting a different performance than the usual.. I would love if they performed with the Musical, like they did with 21 guns, but other song!|
norcalgreendayfan Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 This is Tre on Chicago radio this morning and he confirms they are flying in: Tre on WTMX confirming Tony visit Wow really thats awesome I really didn't expect them to fly in to Ny from Europe during the tour. Oh and on a related note I just saw a commercial for the Tonys on the CBS Station here and during the commercial music from the show was being played in the background
Isabel Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Dammit! My plans of casually bumping into them in Manchester airport are foiled by the Tony awards
norcalgreendayfan Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Dammit! My plans of casually bumping into them in Manchester airport are foiled by the Tony awards Well damn and I bet you had a near fool proof plan too.
