Hermione Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 The first time I ever listened to Kerplunk I remember this song was the one that stuck out most to me. It has a great melody that gets right in your head and something about the music gives it this poignant feeling, especially when he goes "80 please keep taking me away. Away..." and the instrumental part after that. And I'm not usually a fan of songs fading out, but I think the way this song fades out adds even more to that poignant feeling. It took me a long time to get the 80/Adie thing (probably because it doesn't work in an English accent), but I always loved how he really went all-out with the lyrics - he certainly wasn't shy about expressing his feelings! They're sweet but not sickly sweet, the lyrics are frank and there's humour in there too. But they're filled with such genuine, undisguised emotion and that's what makes it such a beautiful song . When I finally realized what he meant by "80" it just made the song even sweeter. Such a romantic gesture to write a song like that.

It's so fucking adorable and sweet and just...amazing. It makes my heart all fuzzy and I love when the songs fades out and the lyrics are just pure...<3 The melody is not too fast and not too slow...I don't think I can express my love for this song anymore without rambling. If I heard it live, I'd probably die.
